Way too expensive for over rated things. Don’t bother. Spend your money more wisely than on too expensive things that you don’t need. Be responsible. Try another store that isn’t so over priced.

Rule #1 of Needless Markup … err, Neiman Marcus: don’t buy anything full price. Rule #2 of Needless Markup: Price shop viciously. Then visit Last Call and see whether they have what you need. The Last Call at Great Lakes Crossing is probably one of the star attractions for the fashion crowd drawn here. Discount department store shopping meets its match for the four digit(before decimal point) price tags that Neiman Marcus at Somerset specializes in. This place doesn’t exactly specialize in slash and burn pricing unless you really luck out, and extended, strenuous return trips can be necessary for something to reach the clearance rack if it doesn’t come home in someone else’s cart. Given the number of well dressed women in this city who excel in finding a bargain, the competition is pretty fierce. The store falls roughly into men’s clothing, women’s clothing, footwear, and accessories. Women’s wear further splits into designer threads, standard lines, and a limited formalwear selection. I haunted that section in search of my ballgown and found Monique Lhuillier, Theia, Tadashi Shoji and JS Collections to name a few. They had a surprisingly reasonable number of party dresses but very few longer ones, a real shame since their in-store selection at Somerset is abysmal. The number of mother-of-the-bride style dresses is also a bit broader, but the majority of these frocks are flirty, short, and $ 80 – 600. Not a bad selection of size 8+ either, which came as a surprise when I expect the majority to be 2. Women’s clothing is their bread and butter. While my beau boggled over the deep discount of a Neiman Marcus house-brand merino wool sweater to $ 150, I prowled through one rack after another of skirts, shirts, and dresses to find something to amp my everyday wardrobe and carry me through work. I found a few promising specimens, but the price tag rules the day here when I am indecisive and too many lacked the discount for me to take a leap. I’ve never bothered much looking at the accessories, so I can’t comment on their presence. The shoes, on the other hand… this is like Nordstrom Rack x 5. Except I’m looking at Choos, Aquitalias, Louboutins, and some gorgeous leather knee high boots that would equal the cost of my rent for the month if I want to have the butteriest, sleek equestrian look. Since the beau was right there, I didn’t think I could justify getting something and asking if he wanted to cover the payment himself. Especially since he’d moved on from that sweater. So much for Vanity and Gluttony being our sins for the day. The shoe selection is smaller in some ways than the other great source, Lord & Taylor(my god… it’s terrifyingly compelling), in the mall. But they have an awful lot of pretties that will soon part a woman and her paycheque without a lot of consideration. Typically dull interior for some reason induces a lot of fatigue in me. Fitting rooms are a bit plain, but the staff on hand is pretty capable. Not especially friendly, though.

A label addicts dream come true! Nieman Marcus’ Last Call houses some of the biggest names and discounts in fashion. I absolutely love shopping here. The shoes section is to die for — Manolo’s, Prada’s, Gucci’s. Loubiton’s!!! You can find any high end favorite in this store for up to 90% off retail. I purchased a pair of Prada stilettos, regular price $ 349, I scored them for $ 75 bucks! Nothing like a bargain. They also have a kick ass hand bag section. I bought a denim Gucci bag for $ 200, retailed for $ 850. This store continuously marks items down. They have an accessories department, men’s, children and home. I have purchased items from this store for as cheap as $ 5, it was a DKNY sweater, way cute! You can’t go wrong in this outlet store!
