I saw the food truck a couple blocks down from my work place and stopped by for a snack. If I knew these pies were so delicious, I would have grabbed more! I went for an apple pie and it was perfect. It’s the perfect serving for one, perfect crust to topping ratio and perfect flavors and textures! I’m about to head to work, hoping they’re there again. I really want to try their savory pies and, although I want to try their other sweet pies, I don’t know if I can pass up the apple!

The pie crust is so flakey and amazing. I’ve never seen them before at the Capitol Sactomofo event, but was able to try them out this time. The lady taking orders was friendly and there was hardly any wait. I ordered the Louisiana meat pie and it had a lot of flavor and spices. It has ground beef, sausage, bell peppers and brown rice all stuffed in a crust of awesomeness. It was $ 7. I also had a bite of the key lime pie and it was perfect. I hope they come out more to this Capitol event.

Five stars for the homemade pie crust. It is flaky and nicely baked. Four stars for the chicken pot pie filling. I added a salt and pepper to it. But it’s good they don’t over season it. Five stars to the last key lime pie of the day! Perfect level of sweetness and just enough custardy lime flavor, don’t change it at all. I will be back again.

What a unique and utterly charming food truck offering! I visited An Honest Pie at Sacto Mofo in Tahoe Park for the 4th Friday summer parties, and I’m glad I did! Their truck is smaller than others, subtle in color and unassuming in advertising. I always try to find the more unique fare at food truck parties, as it can be so dang repetitive, and in my wanderings their sandwich board caught my eye — sweet AND savory pies! And then the words I’m a sucker for every time — Thanksgiving Pie! A mini pie filled with turkey and stuffing, paired with cranberry relish. Are you kidding me? Get me to that truck now! The owners watched me approach and were welcoming with big smiles! My Thanksgiving Pie came with no wait, and was $ 7. There were a couple other savory options, a chicken pot pie and an intriguing sounding Louisiana meat pie, plus several fruit pie options for $ 6. But nothing could dissuade me from getting my stuffing on! The little pie was the perfect size, fabulously compact, stuffed with shreds of tasty roasted turkey and wonderfully herby breaded stuffing, with all the flavors of Turkey Day I love best! Their homemade crust was perfectly baked, flaky and buttery and on par with any great bakery. Their cranberry relish was really something special too — clearly homemade, with bright cranberry flavor boosted with, I believe, oranges and cherries and apples. This is one of the best representations of taking classic home cooking and beloved family recipes and translating them into the food business I’ve ever seen! I would love to revisit Honest Pie to try their other savory wares, and of course to smash a peach or cherry pie. Don’t overlook this charming and petite food truck, give them a try for a comforting taste of home!

New food stand located at Raley Field. I was quite intrigued by their selections. They had a turkey pie, staples like blackberry and apple and something called a Monkeys Uncle. I went with the the latter. It is filled with chocolare ganache and toasted coconut. They are single serving pies and look like a pot pie.
