California Cavern Tattoo

This place is amazing! I came in yesterday for my first tattoo. They were welcoming, friendly, and did amazing work. I felt instantly comfortable in the shop. Poor jeff did a quote on my foot, which hurt!, but it looks amazing and beautiful and I love it so much. He took extra time to make sure the writing was perfect. It turned out great. I will recommend this place to everyone, New and experienced to tattooing. Overall great experience.

I love the shop and the guys. This place is so comfortable and a great way to escape when getting tattooed. They accommodate all your needs and make sure you’re comfortable and making sure that you love your tattoo. California cavern I would totally recommend getting tattooed. Super clean and safe! Everyday I’m constantly getting compliments on my tattoos thank you so much guys!

If like me, you are tired of feeling overcharged for mediocre tattoo work, then look no further. The artists at Cali cavern are exceptional, professional, friendly, and a great bunch to be tattooed by! The pricing for the kind of talent they have is crazy. Crazy reasonable! I have been tattooed by three of the artists and am blown away by the talent. I feel at home when I walk in and am never dissatisfied by the art on my skin. I got so many compliments on their work I just had to share! Stop paying exorbitant prices for badly executed tattoos, and give California cavern your business. BTW, I’ve been getting tattooed since 1997, and have traveled all over the country getting tattoos. I fully endorse these artists!

Nothing short of great artists! I’ve had all my work done by JUNIOR or Mama Bear! Poor Jeff is also phenomenal. They have won several awards at competitions and do impressive work. A relaxed environment and places for those not getting ink to sit! Right around the corner from Pistol Pete’s to grab something to eat as well. Fun place and great artists!

Had my tattoo done Robert. I absolutely love it! He made it look so much better than I imagined it could be. I will be going back for sure. All the people there were so friendly. I will be telling ally friends to go see them.

I knew poor jeff in high school and i had high hopes when i found his tattoo shop. He was definitely a laid back fun kinda guy.
But doing business with him? Never again. The first meeting was awesome. He had many ideas and was confident. I asked to make sure he had time to do what I needed and he assured me that he did. He did an outline because I wanted to fix a tattoo and i wanted new ones as well. I gave him a $ 40 deposit.
A week or so goes by. I call. No return call. Another week or so goes by. I stop by and he says he hasn’t even started recreating my old tattoo or started drawing my new one. So i waited another week. I texted him to see if he had started. No reply. I went elsewhere.
I asked for my deposit back. He had the balls to say he’s keeping half. I said no because that money was going towards a tattoo he never even started. So he finally agreed to give me the full fourty back. When I called to see if I could come get it. He said he has no money for me.
So i asked firmly when the soonest time I could. And he said the money is his because he spent time outlining my old tattoo and that I am harassing him.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND DOING BUSINESS WITH POOR JEFF… EVER.
HE HAS BAD WORK ETHIC.
HE IS RUDE.
HE IS LAZY.
HIS SHOP REEKS OF POT.
HE IS POOR JEFF. POOR BUSINESS. POOR TATTOO ARTIST.

Lots to say, where to begin. First of all when I walked up to the door the co-​owner «Junior» comes right up and greets me in a «welcome to our great new home» kind of greeting. Warm and welcoming, the way a person should be if you want their art on your body. forever! My appt was with Poor Jeff though and I was early so I kicked back
in the waiting area and flipped through portfolios of work from all three artists. Very comfy, welcoming, spotlessly clean, cool, happy vibe. The body of work by the three artists, Poor Jeff, Johanna, and Junior are really truly just stellar works. Fine lines. check, color. check, lettering. oh hell yes check, photo realism. check, traditional and mind bending just rad art.check. The care that all three put into not only the drawing of what you are asking for but really putting them on you like they know what the fuck they are doing. As I said my tattoo was done by Poor Jeff, it’s my daughters name written in a beautiful cursive, very small understated flowers, on my lower arm. Poor Jeff couldn’t have done better. I’m just so happy with it. It’s good to mention Poor Jeff took third place in a lettering competition in Sac just recently, and it shows. He is a real artist, and I am just lucky enough that he picked up a tattoo machine so I could have an original forever. All work is custom here, you won’t find silly flash shit plastering every wall so you can pick out something that everyone else in town has. Put some thought into what you want and prepare to be impressed. My gut tells me our little town of Auburn won’t hold these folks forever as they could easily stand next to some of the best artists in San Francisco or Los Angeles. This always sounds so cliché when I hear it. Poor Jeff is the only one that will tattoo me from here out… well maybe Junior or Johanna too. ;)
