I recently purchased a share of a grassfed lamb for my father’s birthday. It just happened that Dan had harvested his fall lamb, and I was able to purchase it the day it came back from the processor. First of all, the meat is delicious. For roughly $ 140, I got just about half of a lamb. It is a bit more expensive than what you get at the grocery store, but well worth it! The meat was tender, flavorful, and lacked the«old sock» flavor that much lamb tends to have. My father cooked the boneless leg of lamb, and we all loved it! He compared it to the lamb that he had at Chez Panisse a few years ago. I would highly recommend Flying Mule Farm’s lamb. The difficult part for me, at least, is that he only harvests twice a year, and you can only get it from the farmer’s market in Auburn, which is a bit of a trek for me. He also delivers fresh to your door depending on where you live.
