Best food in Auburn. The service is great and the food is awesome. I’d go again and again

Have been coming here for so many years and am so glad to see this place in the hands it is now! Hunters is a landmark for the city of Auburn and also has a very special place in my heart from my childhood. My family and I have recently moved back to Auburn and have enjoyed visiting Hunters on a regular basis. The food has been great, from homemade chicken and biscuits, gluten free pancakes, and of course fries and gravy. They even have pies made from scratch, crust and all. I want to say thank you to the owners for keeping such a great piece of Auburn history going and making tasty food to boot!!! We will be back.

Fantastic old-timey diner! Come for breakfast, and come hungry. The portions are enormous and the food is great(and cheap) so you won’t be disappointed. The breakfast sandwiches are very yummy. Hashbrowns are tasty too. You really can’t go wrong with any of their breakfast items. I haven’t been for any other meals, so I can’t speak to the quality of the lunch or dinner fare. Despite the place’s precarious perch over the river, it seems quite secure, so don’t worry about stepping foot inside!

Charming place if you are passing through and seems like a local favorite! All staff were endearing, friendly & efficient. Hands down one of the best cups of coffee in the state!!! Just a great spot!

Sadly, it went straight downhill after changing owners. I used to love Hunter’s. Portions became smaller, prices higher. Staff not interested if they don’t know you. Very sad.

Dont eat at this freak show. Eggs hammered and overdone. Way to much cheese on omelette and old rye bread. Home fries cooked well. Service lacked.

Sketchy reviews are richly deserved. Longest wait for grilled cheese and fries I’ve ever endured. I believe they may have grown the wheat, ground it, and baked the bread before they made our sandwich. Just kidding. It was Stroemans wheat ranch. The food seems like your basic dinner food, not terrible but nothing grand. Service was slow but friendly. The place needs some updates and a deep cleaning. We won’t be returning, but the super cute exterior was too much to resist just once!

Wow, like stepping back in time, literally! I don’t think they have updated this place in decades let alone clean. I had the gravy fries… typical greasy gravy & can’t go wrong with that! Need to clean the place please!

Timewarp diner that does the food right. Dinerant means DINER-restaurANT

Small town diner… Sat in the corner booth. Saw at least three spiders hanging in the window. Dining room was a bit musty and has not been refreshed in decades. Wife and I ordered breakfast and coffee. Coffee was one of the weakest I ever had. Breakfast was okay at best. Stay away from the blueberry pancakes. They were raw at the center. The only real plus was the Italian bread toast. Would not recommend.

A diner is a diner. You can’t go wrong. A place where even though we aren’t locals we ran into people we knew. AWESOME pancakes and friendly staff.

Definitely playing up that small town feel. Go for the sandwiches because they are authentic and delicious, plus you avoid using the less than satisfactorily silverware(just the right amount of diner uncleanliness). Overall this is a great place to stop for a light meal. The prices were good for the meal that we were served. They offer wheat bread as a choice! Huge plus for the health conscious!!!

Yes I eat at Hunters! My husband loves the fish and I am a fan of the burger melt. Breakfast too! Hot coffee, good diner food. What else can you ask for. AND the people are great. If you are driving through Auburn or near by, skip the chain restaurants and try hunters.

Standard fare in a completely classic diner set over a creek. Eat here for the neon, sleek chrome, and old-time, small-town, upstate feel. Beats all the chains in the area hands down for authenticity, and always has seats filled.
