My father spent the last month of his life at Siena and while this was not how he or we intended for him to spend his final days, we are so grateful to the compassionate staff who cared for him during such a difficult and vulnerable time. I cannot say enough nice things about he was treated by virtually every person who cared for him. My father is fortunate that someone from his family was with him every day and night during his time at Siena but even if we hadn’t been there I am confident the staff would have treated him with kindness and compassion. There is nothing easy or pleasant about being in a nursing hospital and the staff was totally professional and kind to all of us. Thank you to Jill, Kindle, Camille, Lydmilla, Rebecca, James, Vermon, David, Lisette, Andrey, Disha, and so many other people whose names I can’t recall at the moment. Thank you.

I do not understand how this facility has such high reviews. Actually I do, because at least one of them is an EMPLOYEE review and not a patient review… anyways… Long story short… My father is fairly young(63) and got MRSA at the gym. It got into his spine and he had to have a back surgery. He was taken to Kindred-Siena for rehabilitation and to get his antibiotics(intravenously) for 6 weeks. He had not walked for nearly a month by the time he got to the facility. He was supposed to be on his antibiotics three times a day, and it was very strict due to the MRSA. When he got to the facility, his level was one point high. So, instead of calling Kaiser, they took him OFF of his antibiotics for nearly 48 hours without even thinking about testing his blood to see where it was at within 24 hours. To keep someone off of Anti-biotics for nearly 48 hours can be detrimental to their health and recovery AND affect other patients, if it is in his blood, because its HIGHLYCONTAGIOUS if not dealt with accordingly. His Girlfriend had to fight with them to give him a blood test and start him back on his anti-biotics again, When they tested him his level was so low the doctor was worried when we contacted them. That was completely negligent on their part. Then, my father started OT and PT and was cut off after a week. They blamed Kaiser, however my father is at Eskaton now, and the OT and PT told me that they have leverage with Kaiser to keep him on, it all depends on what THEY communicate to Kaiser. So Kindred was HORRIBLE and did not due what they could to keep him in the OT and PT, which he desperately needed as he couldn’t stand, walk or get out of bed by himself! The entire point of OT and PT in a place like that, for a person like my father is to be able to get them back to the way they were before they were sick, and independent again. That is exactly what this currently facility is doing, so I know that it is what SHOULD be done! He ended up getting the MRSA in is spine AGAIN and they didn’t even see him deteriorating over a few days. I could not be with him every day as I work in Davis and live in Sacramento, so I thought that I could trust them to do their job, but alas they didn’t and MYFATHER had to call an ambulance for himself. I could not imagine having an actual elderly relative in a place like that, where they are even less mobile and seriously can’t care for themselves, I would be terrified! The people who work there seem to honestly have no care for the residents/patients and are there to collect a pay check. It was horrible and depressing and I do know that these facilities are not the nicest of places, however this place went above and beyond not caring, from the gruel they served the people, to the lack of care and smiles. I would not put anyone I love in this facility and will be formally complaining to Kaiser about Kindred. On top of it, I called 5 times to ask about his belongings after he left and when I finally spoke to someone they were so rude to me they nearly made me cry… I really can’t believe this place.

Don’t let the reviews fool you like I did if you have a person who is a major fall risk. They will call you(several times) & inform you, you need to have a family member come babysit the patient and/or have you call a service that charges $ 24/hr because they do not have the staff to properly supervise a patient. If they are forced to find the staff, they will then tell you the patient no longer needs nursing care and push to discharge the patient(with massive confusion, with a feeding tube, with a halo and who is a serious fall risk at age 73). If you want to speak with someone, or even if they want you to speak with someone, they do not return calls(even after 6 messages). Doesn’t seem to matter who you call. Even the nurses are«at lunch.» Mind you this is all taking place BEFORE the initial care conference when the patient there less than one week. This has been one of the worst experiences I have had, right behind Sutter Roseville and I work in the medical field. If you decide to go here, have the ombudsman on speed dial.

My husband spent over 100 days at Siena recently. For the vast majority of the stay he was very medically complex. His wants and needs changed sometimes every day making providing his cares very challenging. The nursing staff did an unbelievable job of managing his medical care and keeping a challenging patient happy. The therapy staff was equally amazing, and through their constant persistence they were able to get my husband strong enough he went from bed bound and unable to even feed himself for months to ambulatory. After 100+ days I came to feel I was part of the Siena family. I know quite a bit about the sub-acute care industry, this facility stands out as superior to everything in the greater Sacramento valley. Bonnie

One of our residents just came from Kindred after rehabilitation. She had nothing but wonderful things to say about their service and care. Her daughter is a physicians assistant and said that she chose Kindred because of their great reputation. I am an administrator of a board and care home; All Seasons| Residential Assisted Living in orangevale. When I came to Kindred to do an evaluation, they were kind caring and professional. I contacted them a month after for some paperwork we were missing, and they were just as kind and obliging as before.

WARNINGTOANYONELOOKINGTOUSETHISFACILITY!!! It was arranged for my mother to be transfered to this facility from Kaiser in Roseville on 1÷11÷13. I toured this facility On 1÷8÷13 and all was good. I was told that they would have no problem accepting her on her discharge date and all would be taken care of. This was all said by Tammy, the administrator. Today, 1÷11÷13 while in the middle of discharge we find out that this nursing facility is in the middle of a stomach flu epidemic! I called Tammy and she said that they are not accepting new patients and have not been all week do to a stomach illness that currently has 11 rooms infected!!! There was absolutly nothing posted to inform prople of this. This has been going on for weeks and we were not told any of this during our tour! We are now scrambling to find another location to take my mother now that she is discharged from the hospital! This facility dilibritly lied to my face and led me on in what is the worse medical situation my family has ever faced!!! UPDATE: 1÷13÷13. Turns out that the staff was instructed not to inform us about the circulating stomach illness. If we had spread this illness to my mother, with her compromised immune system, she would have been back in the hospital for weeks! UPDATE: 1÷15÷13. Facility has had 2 more outbreaks, last one at around 4am 1÷15÷13.
