Great basic rolls. Sake tastes like nail polish. Always closed! Great marble soda. Nice atmosphere.

Good quality sushi, with a lot of variety of rolls(more American-style). The lunch special is great and well worth it. My favorite roll is the Lobster King roll, often served as a special. It’s always a tad bit quiet and reserved inside. Service is a bit awkward but when I’m there I like to get down to business and eat. For Auburn, a place not in the coast, it’s a cut above!

Possibly the best sushi etc outside of the upscale overpriced restaurants in San Francisco. Most definitely the best Japanese in the area

Very consistent and always a yummy experience… I tweak my «Dynamite» roll every time and it is embellished perfect! I love watching sports at the bar because it is quiet and I can really enjoy my game and food! I will always gravitate here vs other Auburn spots! My husband lives their bento boxes and creates a new one each time!!!

Seated quickly. Nice waitress. Somewhat private booth seating or open tables are available. The décor is drab. The tuna tataki I had was the absolute worst ever. The Miso soup was very bland. The sushi rolls were OK. I won’t be going back.

Should of known to never trust a sushi place that has Christmas ornaments hanging from their ceiling in late February. I’m not a picky person, but their tuna and salmon were slimy and their Fantasy roll gave me a stomach ache with just one bite. I hadn’t eaten all day, and my appetite disappeared almost instantly. I’ve been here quite a few times, and this time, I definitely won’t be coming back. Save yourself the trip, and go somewhere else.

My Fiancé had gone here a couple times and the sushi was good. However, they get a negative review for a couple reasons. 1) They are closed a lot. We will go to have dinner and lately the last couple times they had a sign posted each time with some variance of «closed. sorry». 2) The time that it takes for the food to get to the table is ridiculous. There will be 3 tables occupied and it still takes 30+ minutes to get the food. I hope things change soon because we wont be going back for a very long time.

We’ve been coming here off and on for a couple years and it’s a love hate relationship. They make the sushi exactly how we want it. Not too much rice, fresh veggies and fish. Some Rolls have way too much sauce but we ask for sauce on the side. Many vegetarian rolls. The staff is interesting but love the cheap rolls and the quality is pretty consistant.

Not bad for a sushi place away from the coast. We took my mother here as her first trip to try out sushi. Tea was good, as was the miso soup. The cucumber salad was a bit different than other sushi places, but still very good. If you’re ordering vegetable tempura, they seem to have a very limited choice in vegetables, only receiving onion, broccoli, and sweet potato. Sadly, no carrots. The inari wasn’t too bad, though it lacked some flavor. Usually the inari that I’m used to has more sweetness to it. This one didn’t have much flavor, though was still okay. My boyfriend ordered the spider roll and thought it was great. Service isn’t the best as it took awhile for us to be greeted and seated. I do think the server was shy, which is why things may have seemed slow, but she was very nice and knowledgeable. I would come back, but am open to trying out other local sushi places.

The food is excellent. The last two times the service was very poor. Not sure if I will return.

Been meaning to stop here for a long time. Glad I did. Had the special Hokkaido roll… absolutely delicious. Also had a sweet potato roll… nothing great but I would definitely come back. Service was fast though a bit reserved .but that is Japanese culture… so understood!

The service is not good at all here. Its kinda a weird atmosphere. I will say they use minimal rice and the rolls are large and wrapped tightly. We really didn’t enjoy the taste of the rolls. They either were in a weird soupy sauce or no sauce at all. Kinda bland and flavorless over all.

This business just seems to get less and less impressive every time I try and eat here. It started out great, but the last few times were disappointing. The freshness of the food seems to have declined and there are some truly annoying patrons that frequent the place. I know that isn’t something that can be helped by the business, but it’s a factor all the same. I’ll stick to getting sushi from downtown Auburn or Roseville from now on.

I like this restaurant and have had a serene in-house experience where I enjoyed calm atmosphere AND the food was all to my satisfaction served in a timely manner – Bento Box Salmon, yum. I usu do take-out and the food is delish and well priced.

In a word: Gross. I love sushi and have never had the displeasure of having bad sushi — until yesterday. It literally tasted like I imagine sawdust might taste… bland, and disgusting, plus I was sick to my stomach a few hours later. I live in Auburn and frequent the other two sushi restaurants often, and thought I would give this a try since my friend lives on this side of town. We tried asking for some sauce to put on our rolls to see if it helped, but to no avail. They saw we werent happy with our food, but did not ask or offer to do anything, we wasted $ 50 on enedible food. Between the two of us, we ordered 5 different rolls and they were all awful. Don’t waste you money here, this place stinks!

Too bad, this place would do really well if they hired a server who gave a dam. really almost just rude young gal who could care less. Portions are super small and over priced, One thing that was order was Udon seafood soup, $ 12.003 tiny shrimp and almost no veggies. What a waste. The Sushi tasted good at the time, but we all had headaches later. We have been many times this was the worse and will be the last.

Love love their sushi! One of the best sushi place in town! The price is right and also a plus extra point is that: they are right next door to my shop!

I got the asparagus roll, avocado roll and sweet potato roll. All $ 3.95 ea(+1.00 for soy wrap) they were delish! I love this place. I don’t understand the bad reviews. I have eaten here 6 times and the service and food has been wonderful each time. I am really hard on my reviews of restaurants so a 5 star rating is a major kudos from me.

Service is awful. On multiple occassions we’ve been forgotten before we even got our drinks. When it happened on our anniversary, we vowed never to patronize Take Maru again. The sushi is so-so; the unoriginal sushi you can expect from an establishment so far from the coast. The fish is frozen and tasteless, so they make up for its lack of flavor by deep-frying or over-saucing their more expensive rolls to try to justify the price. If this place is looking like your best option, then just skip sushi tonight.

It was really good at first… but after a few hours all I can say is two words, FOODPOISONING. Should have known because I was the only one there, at 2:30. And their lunch specials include two rolls for $ 8.95.

Its still a good lunch option for asian cuisine in North Auburn. My only disappointments are as follows — the gyozas are deep fried, they seem like the ones you buy at Grocery Outlet, and the California Roll that came with the Lunch Box was very stale, like the ones you buy at Costco in the shrink-wrapped packaging. Don’t get me wrong: its a great value at $ 8.50. The décor and service is nice.

I feel like Auburn is a black hole of for good food, this place included. I’m not sure why it’s rated 4 stars overall, it’s honestly nothing special, but I’ll be nice and give it 3 stars. The nicest thing about this place is that the make their sushi with a small amount of rice, good for those watching their carb intake. Pricing is about average, food is OK, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here. Oh, not sure what was up with their salad dressing, but it was NOT good. I’ll probably try another place the next time I’m up in the foothills.

This place is great, i love coming here! I come at LEAST once a week. I love coming here for the lunch special, it’s probably my favorite when im by myself. They also have very good dinner boxes with a bunch of different kinds of sushi on it. First off, i walk in and am seated almost immediately every time i come in. Drinks are brought out in a timely manner and so is the food usually. Sometimes are busier than others but it’s usually all the same. I normally have a lunch special when i come in. 3 sushi rolls, a diet coke and a water with a lemon. $ 15.80, when paid with a $ 20 bill, change comes to $ 4.20. ha Anyway, the sushi is always great, im a big fan of the volcano roll, and the last samurai roll, also the white and black roll, the spicy yellowtail roll, the crunch roll, and the philly roll are all super good, and im always a bit too full after leaving which is always a plus. They don’t skimp you, that’s for sure! Definitely if your interested in great sushi and are in the area you should swing by and give this place a try! It’s not the best sushi I’ve ever had but it is the best in auburn. For friendly, quick service, above average sushi, comfortable booths and a consistent price that doesn’t change every time when you come in and order the same thing, earns this place a solid 4 stars. I’ll always come to here, and you should too! Cheers!

What can I say! I LOVE this place! Growing up in San Francisco and living across the street from Japan town, you know that sushi isn’t so traditional anymore. Moving to Sacramento, you know that sushi has become trendy and«cutting edge». When I go to eat sushi, I like to have a quiet environment; I’ll either eat at the bar if I feel like socializing a little, or in a quiet booth where I can enjoy my food and relax. If you want some hyped up, overcrowded, long wait, uncomfortable tables and an environment where you can’t even hear what the other person at your table is saying, this is definitely not the place for you. But, if you want good sushi, a clean, inviting, relaxing and quiet environment this is the place! All of their food is good! The sushi is fresh, the meals and tempura are delish! We go with our children and they usually get the meals and my husband and I share the sushi. There is never a wait, it’s clean and quiet, the kids love it here; they like to see the fish in the fish tank. The meals come with miso soup, salad with a yummy ginger dressing, rice and your meal. They have children’s chop sticks available on request. Our favorite rolls are the Ichiban, and the Volcano roll! It’s to DIEFOR! Come here to eat and relax, bring your family and enjoy GREAT food without the hype and noise!
