Be very careful and read the lease agreement. You are being forced to take renters insurance that covers property damage due to water leaks etc. These are things that are normally covered by the complex owners. You will have to pay their $ 11/​Mo. fee, as you will not find anything cheaper. I asked for a copy of the policy, but they said the lease shows the insurance and that is all they will provide.
Next, they allow $ 90/​MO. for utilities and we have already paid an average of $ 51 for extra electricity. I asked for proof that it went over and they said I would have to contact Alabama power and light.
Nice place, but they nickel and dime you to death.

This is NOT where you want to live. The apartments are poorly constructed, the management is horrible, and their policies are ridiculous. Let’s start with the apartments themselves. They were obviously built in a hurry – repairs were needed upon move in, and we were the first people to live here. The walls constantly crumble, leaving a coat of white dust no matter how often you clean. Every time we turned on the stove, the power went out in the living room, the third bedroom, or both. The maintenance staff said it wasn’t worth fixing because it was too difficult.
Now, let’s talk about the management. The manager is never available. To talk to her, my roommate and I had to sit outside her office until she would see us, like she was the Wizard of Oz or something. When we explained our dilemma to her, she said she’d get back to us. She never did. I called corporate. The guy said he’d get back to me. He never did.
Now, let me explain how The Grove’s ridiculous policies necessitated calling corporate. Move out day was in the middle of final exams for the summer term. So, on top of finals, I had to move out and stay in a hotel. I tried working with management and corporate, as mentioned before, but they really weren’t interested in helping me. When I asked why on earth they would make move out during finals, they said corporate named the date; it’s a one-​size-​fits-​all policy. They have a lot of policies and rules here. For instance, if you leave trash outside the door, you’ll get a fine. Except our neighbors did that all the time – not just trash bags, but also vomit, nachos, and beer cans. Hell, the guy who inspected my room at move out tossed a cigarette into the breezeway. Nobody seemed to care about maintaining the buildings. That’s probably why we had bug problems even though we kept our place meticulously clean.
The Grove will paint a picture of perfect college fun to lure in students who have no clue about the best place to live. (I was a grad student who had not lived in Auburn before.) They call it «fully loaded college living.» Well, they’re full of something, but it ain’t that.
