I was a loyal Home Depot customer until just recently. Scheduled an appointment to have gutters estimated for my house. Person came out and did not provide estimate for a week and a half. And I actually had to ask for it. When I got a estimate it was only for half the house. Very poor customer service. Affected me so much that I will now be using Lowe’s.

If you know what you want and need, and are prepared to scoot in, grab it and leave, then Home Depot is perfectly fine. But if you have questions, forget it… even if your question isn’t at all technical. Twice in the past month, my husband went to Home Depot to get an item, but wanted to know if it could be used in a certain fashion. On both occasions he was told that ALLTHREE staff in that department were on break, and would be back in 10 – 15 minutes, so he’d have to wait. And on both occasions, he left… and drove down the road to Lowe’s, where he found customer service staff more than available to help him. He of course wonders why he’d ever go back to Home Depot.

I’ve always been drawn to Home Depot over Lowes. Maybe it is the bright orange that draws me in. This Home Depot has a food truck parked out front selling hot dogs. I’ve been to a few stores where I’ve found a Dunkin Donuts but this is the first dog truck I’ve seen. There is plenty of parking as it is at the end of the lot where the old Walmart use to be. They carry a dog powder that we put out on the lawn and hedges to keep the pups from poopin. It is made with peppers so when the dogs go sniffin to find the right spot there not so apt to pick our place. We’ve had good luck with it as the front walkway use to be a neighborhood bathroom for our 4 legged friends. Sadly the local dog walkers don’t pick up after their pets. It does«wash» away after a while with the weather and rain so we reapply each spring. Happy trails.
