Some of the food was good and the tea selection was great but the service and overall experience was sub par to what is available at other tea rooms. The wait between courses was really long and we were the only people. The portions of cream and sugar were really small and not frequently refilled. The green tea ice cream was horrible. There are other better tea rooms around.

Love this place! We were never without food and tea, and the ladies who work there are very kind and attentive, even though we walked in without a reservation.(oops) The food was delicious and all the teas were unique. I recommend the ‘Paris’!

We are regular customers at Thompson s Gold Rush Tea room and they always meet and exceed our expectations! The scones are homemade delicious and seasonal. we had the apricot scones last time and vanilla rose a few months ago. The high tea is extraordinary filling beautiful like celebration foods. Home made soups and unique salads. the quiche is the best I’ve ever tasted. The service is great the prices are great. I feel like I’m vacationing in Paris or London just taking a short drive to Auburn. Not a fast food place, more like an experience with healthy food.

I love this hidden gem! I’ve been there twice now and I live in Elk Grove. It’s worth the long drive every time. There’s a closer tea room in Carmichael but I don’t care for the owner there. She doesn’t have good customer service skills. On the other hand, the owner here at Goldrush Emporium & Tea is awesome! Her name is Betty and she is so welcoming with a smile. She takes great care of her customers. The place is so cute it has that old feel like you’re back in time. I always get the Elegant Tea. It’s just enough to fill you up. They have a large selection of tea so guarantee you will find what you want. Too bad this place is hidden in Old Auburn so no one really knows it there.

My friend and I found out about this tea parlor though word of mouth. we called to make a reservation, but they were closed on Mondays. So we showed up on Tuesday morning at 10am, no one was there? Around 10:30 the owner showed up and we told her we would like to have a Royal tea. She said, well I don’t have anything ready, help comes in about 11am, I thought(oh no) this isn’t good ! But, she said, if you come back at noon, I will have the two royal teas ready for you. We did come back at noon, she seated us at a quaint table(all of the tables have little fancy purse hangers hanging from the tables, so you can hang your purse, very neat !) she started serving us our tea — the food was small portions, but many courses, we went away full .All of the food tasted excellent ! The owner was very nice, we will be back and tell all of our friends about this new Tea Parlor ! Julie Phillips of Granite Bay

Stumbled upon this find when I was looking for another place nearby that has since closed. Well, what a delightful happy surprise! A cozy little tea room & bistro where you can stop in & enjoy a sip & a bite or even indulge in one of their full tea services(including a Royal High Tea). If you’re unsure what to try — so many teas & treats! — ask Betty, the owner, for her recommendations. Her creativity & love of organic teas & foods makes this hidden gem truly special.
