Consistently great high quality food at a reasonable price. I’ve been there many times and always leave feeling like I had a special meal.

My family and I had dinner here last night, we were a party of 6. The food was great, everyone enjoyed their appetizers and entrees. However, this five star review is specifically for our waitress Christina. My family can be a bit of a handful, we our loud Italians and like to joke around with each other and whoever we come in contact with! Our waitress had a great sense of humor and interacted with us throughout our entire meal. She was extremely nice and genuine and she was attentive to everyone’s needs. It was a busy thursday night in the restaurant but she remained calm the entire time and never made us feel rushed. Please thank Christina for us and tell her to keep up the great work! Servers like her are rare!

First time back in years. Food was very good and portion was just fine. Generous with wine samples when undecided.

Tried to phone in a take out order and they weren’t even taking calls! I get that they are busy but you need to answer the phone!

I love this place but I can’t afford it often. Recent reviews almost scared us away, but we wanted something special for our anniversary, so we ignored the reviews. We were not disappointed. It is as good as we remembered. The frutti di mare was lovely. The shrimp and scallops were both sweet as only the freshest seafood can be. Both the scallops and the mussels were cooked so that they were just barely done. That way they were so tender they melted in my mouth. Many restaurants would overcook these items til they were rubbery. All of this seafood demonstrated a talented and attentive chef.

Busy place, Good reviews but we had a couple problems; Involtini appetizer was very good, BUT, our entrees came before we could finish it. My wife’s entrée of Pappdelle Ragu was also good, But, my pork loin is best described as 2 hockey pucks on a nice lemony polenta. Other than that, being rushed and no water refills we enjoyed the help with our wine selections. Pat

The service was not very good. My pizza looked and tasted burnt. … seriously, it was at least 1⁄3 black. Stop burning the pizza! Srsly, cheese pizza isn’t that hard, just take it out before it turns black. Let’s be fair, the pizza unburnt wouldn’t have been great but then at least I could have eaten all that I paid for. The fried rice ball things were pretty good… I miss having unpretentious Italian food in auburn.

We used to love this place but it’s going down hill. What happened to the portion sizes? They seem as though they have been cut in half! My husband order a pasta dish and it looked more like an appetizer! I ordered the pizza and it was overcooked. The crust was burnt and the pizza was very dry. I feel bad for the servers because they just don’t have enough servers to properly service the customers. I would gladly pay more for a reasonable portion and reasonable service. Very disappointed with the last two visits we made here. The sad part is the pasta and the sauces are very good. It’s the rest of the experience and the portion sizes that need improvement. This used to be our favorite restaurant. We will not be back.

Food was so good I wanted so much more… The reason for two stars. The portion was so small I actually finished it before the server came back with the fresh Parmesan cheese – not exaggerating at all. Luckily, my wife ordered the pizza or else I would have had to come home to cook dinner. SERVER: The server was obviously slammed, but she did a fabulous job serving all of her tables. She even brought more ice for my Pellegrino. NOTETOOWNERS: increase the price and make sizable portions. The portions were so small I thought this was a «Smile You Are On Candid Camera» show. Honestly, if I wasn’t with friends I would have walked out with the child portion left on the table. ALSO: STOPBURNINGTHEPIZZA. Your chef cooks the pizza so well done it tastes like corrugated cardboard. I’ve had your pizza when it was cooked correctly and the fresh olive oil drips on the side of your lip. Best Margarete pizza in Northern CA when it is cooked correctly.

Very disappointing. I would never come back here. Came here with my wife and kids and initially it looked very promising. The staff was courteous and the atmosphere was welcoming. We ordered the mixed green salad and zuppa robusto for starters and it was ok. For the main course we ordered the chicken pollo arosto, pizza with prosciutto and pasta bolognese for the kids. The chicken was too dry, my wife barely touched it. The pizza wasn’t any better. Pizza is my favorite dish and this was the first time I’ve left a slice on the table. But this could happen — every restaurant has its bad days. But we weren’t ready for the following. so the kids didn’t like their pasta. They love pasta in general but in this case they said they didn’t like the sauce and barely touched it. We asked if we could return it and get a plain pasta instead. Our server said she’ll check. She got back to us and said she called the manager as she didn’t have authority(?!) and the manager didn’t approve it so she can’t take the pasta back and offered we purchase another one for $ 8. I have never heard of anything like this before. How can they refuse to take back a dish? We told her that’s not reasonable but she reiterated she has no authority. Off course we passed on the offer of paying more money for low quality food and asked for the check. The kids were still hungry so we went looking for food elsewhere. This is hands down the worst level of service I’ve seen in the US. Would definitely recommend avoiding this place.

The up side, the food was good. But I thought the portions could have been a little larger for the price. My bowl literally looked like I ordered a child’s portion. Big down side, the service! We waited almost 30 minutes before our waitress even took our drink order! I don’t recall how long after that we finally got our food order in. I made eye contact with the waitress several times trying to get her to come take our order, but she was busy getting back rubs from male employees and couldn’t be bothered. We had to ask for side plates for the shared antipasto plates, which according to the waitress they only give if you ask for them and since we asked, she would be happy to bring them now. Seemed strange. We also had to ask for the oil and balsamic dip for the bread that we noticed all the other tables had. We came here with a large party to celebrate a birthday and brought in a dessert which the person who greeted us nicely put in the back, not saying it was a problem to bring it in. But when I asked to have it brought out, the waitress informed me she had to charge a plate fee, $ 1.00 per person. Of course she kindly offered to just leave it in the back and said we could just order dessert. I agreed to pay the plate fee and we enjoyed it. And in case you think I meant plating, as in they helped serve it or something, no, it’s just a fee for them to let you have plates. Must cost them a lot to wash dishes or something since you have to ask for appetizer plates and since they charge for dessert ones. Sadly this poor customer service made the experience not so enjoyable for me, in spite of the fact that the food tasted nice.

I have eaten here a few times, but this last time they really impressed me. I ordered the eggplant appetizer and it was just amazing! If you like trying new foods, they will always have something new on their menu. The service was excellent and it is priced right. Make sure to call ahead for reservations.

I would say this is the best Italian in auburn however I don’t think I was impressed or unimpressed with anything. Every time I come into town I was trying to eat here but reservations on a Friday of Saturday are difficult so I was really looking forward to finally getting a reservation. They serve antipasto to start with fresh bread which is a great touch. My cannelloni was delish but too much water at bottom of dish. The polenta lasagna and spaghetti squash were good too. Portions are small(including the wine) but prices are fair. I will be back.

Atmosphere, restaurant, food and service were wonderful! My huge complaint is we could hear conversations the staff was having, talking about personal affairs and even vomiting! I was appalled, please staff, if you are reading this… please be more courteous to your guests.

Great place to eat real Italian food in Auburn. Not a dumbed down American Italian restaurant. Everything is good.

My wife and I started the meal with the fried rice balls which were excellent. After the appetizer we had pretty high expectations for the entrées, unfortunately we were let down. I ordered the swordfish which was highly recommended by our server and my wife ordered the pasta with Bolognese meat sauce. My fish was dreadfully over cooked and bland, and the food looked like it had been carelessly tossed onto the plate without a thought towards presentation. The Bolognese sauce was under seasoned and pasta was over cooked and mushy. The atmosphere and service were excellent, but the food missed the mark. There aren’t other options for Italian in Auburn, so if you go here hopefully the cooks in the back get it right.

Best. Polenta. Ever. Service. Rocks. Food. Outstanding. Spending some of my days in SoCal, I know the price of a decent Italian dinner can be costly. I was more than impressed with this place. A glass of Moretti beer, Montepulciano wine, polenta(the best ever!) and margarita pizza was under $ 30. Great food. Great service. Outstanding experience. I was blown away. Definitely a find. Don’t pass it up. Even has outdoor patio seating.
