Recently moved, this place was close and it had been 2 months since last haircut. Larry was very nice and did a solid job for what it was. Can’t beat the price either @ $ 20. That said, was hoping for something a little more contemporary… not sure if I did not communicate what I wanted or he didn’t listen. Wife says I came out with«dad hair». Net net, good for the price, but probably not going back.

I’m sure you can pay $ 200 somewhere and get hair that makes dinner, gives you a massage, etc. but for $ 20 I’m calling this as good as it gets. Totally consistent, sharp haircut no matter what I ask for, unlike Supercuts(totally inconsistent… one day OK next day NIGHTMARE).

I’ve been to a couple barber’s in the Auburndale neighborhood, and I keep going back to Larry’s. The cheapest place to get a haircut in Auburndale is definitely Supercuts, for about $ 14. The Supercuts employees aren’t friendly, and the conversations they have(with each other, not with the customer) are questionable at best. If you want a haircut with your uneven and your haircut to look like an 8 year old’s then go to Supercuts. You get what you pay for there. The other barber shop in town is Kevin Max Hair Salon(now in the same building as Larry’s actually). Kevin is a great guy but focuses mostly on women’s hair and is usually pretty booked, but not a bad guy to give your business to. Larry on the other hand is a nice guy, for about $ 21 you can get a quality, professional haircut from a guy who’s been cutting hair a darn long time. Larry will take the time to have a nice conversation with you about anything and appreciate what you’re saying. One of the other reasons I like giving him my business is because he supports a lot of local initiatives and childrens programs and sponsors a Little League team. I know the money I spend there is staying in the community and not going down to wherever Supercuts headquarters is located. Last reason is that now, with Kevin and Larry in the same location you’ve got a great friendly place, the way a barbershop is meant to be, with good friendly people and nice conversations going on. The barbers know almost all their customers, greet them by name and create a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Well worth the trip! Parking is street-side or in the public lot located directly behind the building.
