I have visited this statue several times and had a photo-op each time. This is a great attraction to Broad Street. It’s so great to see the Hometown Hero being honored on a main street in Augusta, his hometown. I can go on and on about his greatness and what all he has done for his hometown, but I’m sure you already know!!! Being one of the richest entertainers at one time, it’s amazing to me that a person from Augusta could reach worldwide stardom and greatness. I am forever grateful to Mr. Brown for all he had done for music and Augusta. He always made it known that he was from Augusta and represented us with great pride!!! Even though he is gone now, I stand upon this man’s shoulders and will continue to show as much pride for my city as he did!!!

James Brown. Augusta. It’s a no brainer :) The statue is reportedly life-sized and rumor has it that they originally placed it on ground and off its pedestal until James’s death so he could«stand with the people» which was his personal request. The text to get your picture thing use pretty cool. Basically they have camera there that you text a message to. Then it will take a pic and automatically text it to you. Even though the pics kinda turn out crappy and foggy, it’s still fun. Tip: If you want good pic use your own phone.

Pretty cool to see The Godfather of Soul on Roadside (offbeat tourists attractions). The statue can be found downtown Augusta. It stands in the tree-shaded median of Broad St., between 8th and 9th. This is the first time I’ve seen the statue. What stands out is the Microphone and Cape. I think it’s a great addition to Augusta. My favorite songs: «Sex Machine», It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World, and«Papa’s Got a Brand New Bag». James Brown you rock my world!

The landmark to see in the City of Augusta! Honoring the late great Godfather of Soul, James Brown. You get a bit of history also on the plaque that is also located in the area. Some recent technology now also gives you a chance to take a photo with the famous statue. The TxtCam lets you pose with the Godfather himself. It text you your photo afterwards. If you’re here, you should also travel down James Brown Blvd. or even stop by the Augusta Museum for more history about James Brown. This is kind of ironic, but the iconic Pyramid Music store is located directly across from the statue. You can drop in and pick up some of the Godfather of Soul’s greatest hits!
