Johnny’s Fish Market

I come here every so often to get a fish sandwich. I also love their fried shrimp. There are other fish places in Augusta, but I always come back here. Every time, the place is crowded. Fridays you can forget it.

Decent portion, price, and platter. My parents use to come here a lot often but started to explore other eateries (seems like a common theme with this place)
Disclaimer: I dont like salty food… seasoned is better. So what one may think is bland… i may think its flavorful.
The hushpuppies were good but I can’t compare them to much… bc ive only had hushpuppies a few times in my life. The fish was seasoned well and fried to perfection. but wholly bones! The shrimp fried rice was my least favorite. I thought it punched flavor but they need better quality shrimp. The shrimp was damn near dehydrated shrimp that wasnt cleaned thoroughly. The poop line is not popping. I would get fries and more hush puppies.

This use to be my mother’s lunch spot. You could catch her here almost always. She put me on to this place. I use to enjoy it. More fish markets started to open up in the area and this restaurant became last on our list. We were in the area today and decided to check them out again and see if the food was still as good as it was. I can say it was ok. I have been spoiled by my usual spots so it’s really hard to compete with them. We both got the filleted Tilipia lunch special. It came with shrimp fried rice or french fries and coleslaw. I got the shrimp fried rice and my mother got the french fries and coleslaw. It took them a while to cook the food and the restaurant was pretty empty at this time. The fish had an ok flavor to it. I’m use to at least 6 pieces of fish and I only got 4 here. The rice was very bland. I had to add soy sauce to it to make it edible. I can say that the tea has really improved. It use to taste like they made it from syrup but now it taste like they brew it daily. I might check them out every once in a while but I doubt it. My regular places blow this place out of the water and plus my regular places are closer to me.
