My husband and I decided we wanted bbq. We decided to give this place a try. Well, we get there stand in line. We get to the counter and all of the sudden the cashier loses her voice when hubby ask her a question. So I ask her can you talk. she looks at me and goes yes, ma’am.I put that menu down and left. I refuse to spend my hard earned money where I feel I am not welcomed.

Where to begin… we came to Perry Fosters with an open mind and I have to say I was incredibly disappointed. I got the sampler platter and she got the smoked wings with fries. The sampler platter had, pork spare ribs, smoked chicken, polish sausage, chopped pork and chopped brisket. Let’s start with the ribs, while they had good smoke, that’s all you could taste. The rub was nonexistent and the ribs were dry and a tad over. They had quite a bit of tug to the bite. The brisket was sliced wafer thin which is an indicator of tough/over cooked meat. A little beef flavor but mostly smoke. The chopped pork was über bland and needed sauce to add any semblance of flavor. I stopped eating there I will say that the sides(Mac and cheese and collards) were very very good but for a place that claims to be «World Famous» I was other worldly dissatisfied… if this is the best BBQ Augusta has to offer… well damn.

I just got takeout from Perry Foster’s last night: spare ribs, collard greens, macaroni and cheese, and baked beans. It was absolutely delicious! They even gave me sides of barbecue sauce(KC style, so I don’t think many people in the carolinas/georgia would care for it) and pepper vinegar. The ribs were tender and smokey/flavorful(didn’t really even need to dip them in sauce). The sides(which usually suffer at other bbq joints) were all delicious and homemade, and if they weren’t, then they sure fooled me! I see a lot of complaints about slow service. I think that’s how you know you’re in a good, authentic barbecue place. I ordered ahead of time and still had to wait 15 minutes, but the waitress and customers were very friendly so I didn’t mind at all. And the wait was well worth it. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in Augusta!

This place marches to the beat of its own drummer as far as service goes, but that’s to be expected… this isn’t some corporate chain where servers wear«flair». Not bad service at all, just unconventional. I would never eat in anyways, but I think it’s more designed for take out. We’ve had it three times now. The brisket and pork are great but the real belle of the ball are the pork ribs. Amazing, smoky, juicy and fall off the bone tender. The sauce is neither here nor there. I prefer SC mustard BBQ sauce, but the ribs are so flavorful that sauce isn’t necessary. The collards are great as well. Kinda wish they served cornbread.

Awesome environment. My mouth was watering before we entered the door. Unfortunately, the party I was with wanted«drinks» with their meal so we ended up leaving. I definitely will go back to enjoy the food and home atmosphere the place offers. I didn’t catch her name, but the lady running the place was very understanding regarding our leaving.

I just left this place and it was disgusting! The food was so awful that I gagged when taking a bite. I ordered the chicken wings and let me tell you the wings were old. They taste like they were old and had been cooked probably a month ago. They do not cook the wings to order they warm them up in the microwave and I can tell from the angel of the wings that they do not keep age dates on their chicken because there is no way those wings should have served. I was in the parking lot when I tasted them an I spit then out immediately. The wings smelled like a dead carcass. It was bad and they should be closed down for serving awful food. I can’t believe that they are in business because this place did not egg been have enough cash to do transactions, the young lady had to get money from the tip jar. This place is unclean and unsafe!!! DONOTGO! I immediately went back in and got my money back!

Damn good bbq. The best I’ve had in Augusta. Mr Foster is a very nice man and a great bbq chef. Pulled pork was a nice smoked meaty not fatty meal. Mac and cheese is on point. A bit expensive but well worth for the amount and quality of food. Will definitely return!

WOW, I finally tried this place and what a fool I’ve been. Hands down the best BBQ in the Augusta area. I got the sampler platter with 5 meats and 2 sides. everything was cooked to perfection. None of this is cold and that is hot, it was all perfect. The spicy BBQ sauce is bangin’. big daddy your good, sconyers is good too. this place tops em all!

This is the second time I have been here and it’s been great bbq both times. This time I had the lamb and it was quite tasty. I also had the potato salad and beans. The beans were not quite what I liked but still good. The potatoe salad was super tasty with the bbq sauce. I would recommend it again.

I’m giving this review based on a lifetime of delicious BBQ. I grew up in rural Missouri, close enough to Warrensburg to be lucky enough to enjoy Perry Foster’s for most of my life. Heck, I took swimming lessons with PF jr. I was excited when he changed locations from a little bitty place to a larger one, and when we were really broke, one sandwich, split carefully and served on tortillas, fed a family of four to fullness. I left state as an adult, I ALWAYS went to Perry’s. My word, the SAUCE. Best BAKEDBEANSONTHEPLANET. Seriously. Mouth watering, smoky beans full on onions, peppers, burnt end and pieces, and a little sugar. Mmmm-mmmm. My mama always got our holiday turkeys smoked there, too, and they were THEBEST. Hank Jr knows it, too. Mama passed in 2010, and Perry’s is gone, so I haven’t got much reason to go back there. Georgia, on the other hand…;)

The waitress stole my credit card number along with 10 or so other customers and is currently in jail. I’m stuck having to deal with legal issues because of them. Good BBQ though. I wonder if the owner knows or cares.

This is without a doubt the best barbecue place in the area. And Perry is just the coolest owner. He’s personable and genuine. Now back to the food: it’s the best barbecue ever. The fact that he cooks it over wood makes it amazing!!! You can actually smell it before you get into the building. We highly highly highly recommend the beef brisket.

First off we sat in and ordered sweet tea and they had none. How you have NOSWEETTEA and your a bbq restaurant in the south. Bbq chicken ribs and pulled pork was dry and had NO flavor. I could tell that they were not fresh and cook couple days ago. Sides Was the same precooked and very flavor less. We had the mac and cheese collard greens bbq beans Potatoe salad and hash and rice and all was ok but not great. Sad to say We are NOT going back. PLUS the menu had a picture of a half chicken plate that was stolen from the SHANE’S RIBSSHACKMENU… lol

This is roll-up-your-sleeves-get-down barbecue. Even the sides are good. Just like Mama makes. They even have REAL pork skins y’all!

It always smells amazing passing by so we decide to stop in twice now. The first time they were out of all there food. Why wouldn’t you make sure you have enough food on a Sunday. A day in which a lot of ppl go out to eat. The second time we sat at a table for over 10 mins waiting for someone to come out and no one ever did. We heard ppl in the back and a girl sitting at the bar. We also have a baby so it’s not like we were extremely quite. Prices on the menu were way over prices for no service and no food.

This place has outstanding food! The staff is very friendly. The owner gave me a free piece of red velvet cake while I was waiting. It was delicious. I had a turkey sandwich, some beef, greens, mac n cheese, and peach cobbler. It was all great! This is the best place to eat in Augusta!

I hope I was there on a bad night. Pork didn’t have much flavor. Brisket was better but not great. Their sauce is BAD. Sides were great! Some of you might be thinking what’s a guy from Florida know about BBQ? I know a lot. Travel every week through the south and try BBQ most every where. I do that to compare to my own. Mine would crush this hands down and I don’t use or even offer sauce. I should have tried big daddy’s but I went off the reviews and didn’t go. The server here would be better suited to do a job working a machine some where because she had no personality and was not great at serving. I hate writing bad reviews because I know this impacts business. Sorry but trying to be truthful so others can get great meals.

A true mom and pop BBQ spot, so do not go there expecting fast service. Did enjoy the conversation with the owner and staff. For a first time experience, the food was so so. The ribs had a descent smoke flavor and was tender; however, the sauce left much to be desired. The Mac & Cheese was cheesy but could have used some salt. The collard greens were very good! The baked beans were just ok. Keep in mind this was just my first visit and I typically give a place three good chances to win me over. So more to follow.

This is a great barbecue place. A lot of barbecue places focus just on the meat and forget about the sides, but not this place. I had pulled pork and brisket and they were both delicious, but the sides were outstanding. Hash was spot on, green beans were exactly like the homecooked ones I’m used to, and the slaw had the perfect balance of sweetness.

Visiting Ft Gordon or the August area? Do not pass this place up. This is exactly what a BBQ place should be. It is a whole in the wall off the side of the road, where you order your food and then take it out and eat it on a picnic bench outside. We came for lunch and ordered the«small» sandwiches. These are not small by any means. I had the beef, pork, ham combo with collard greens and sweet potato fries for around $!0. Oh my Jesus, this shit is good! It is no frills good BBQ… Period.
