I ordered the jerk baby back ribs and they were delicious. Full of flavor and fall off the bone. The service was great and the staff super friendly. Both times I’ve been the manager came to check on my table to see if we needed anything and made us feel welcome. The location is a bit difficult to find since it seems like you are driving into an apartment complex, but using a gps should be just fine with the address given.

To say this place is off the beaten path would be an understatement. Trust your GPS on this one cause you’ll think it is broken. That being said, the destination is worth the journey. The place looks so authentic both inside and out that you’ll be expecting to hear sea gulls and smell the salt air. My first course was the she crab soup, which was the best I’ve ever had anywhere. I would have eaten a gallon of it if they would have put it in front of me. The menu was very diverse and representative of Caribbean fare. Wanting to get a taste of variety from the menu, I went with the trio, which consisted of jerk pork, mahi mahi, and coconut shrimp. The jerk flavoring of the pork was bold and intense without being too much heat, very tasty and representative of the cuisine. The seafood portions were flavored and seasoned perfectly as well. I definitely want to try the jerk chicken on my next visit as I’m sure it will be a home run too.

Very impressed by this off the beaten path restaurant. Shrimp patè was amazing, especially with the jerk mango chutney. Had lunch, cant wait to go back for dinner.

!!! THE… WORST…SERVICE…EVER !!! I won’t go into it let’s just say my party was waiting almost 30 minutes before we even got water. Short and sweet the food was… edible… $ 30 ribeye was ‘alright’ but I can get the same thing if not better at Longhorn.(without driving through an apartment complex to get to the restaurant NICETOUCH) Trust me, Nothing I would make a special trip for like we did being out of towners. Word to the wise anything fried here is FRIED!!! Like left in the oil too long get out your heart medicine fried. Sorry Raes but you won’t be seeing us anytime soon!

Everything here is great! I had one of the specials, Amberjack with a Dill Cream Sauce, New Potatoes, & Green Beans. I had never eaten this fish before and it was a mild flaky delicious fish. My husband had the Shrimp & Grits and said it was wonderful too.

Great lunch! Best Mahi Mahi I’ve had outside of Florida. Jerk wings were a perfect app! Friendly staff, perfect portions, great tastes! She crab soup is a must try! Crab meat sandwich yummy! Sides were flavorful and perfect additions. No room for dessert but we will be back! And we LOVELOVELOVE that it’s a hideaway!

So weird as hell location… Drive into some neighborhoods… It’s odd… But cars in the parking lot is a good sign. Went in and got seated right away which is good for a Friday night. Our waiter told us the specials… And compared their steak to Ruth Chris’s… Which I found funny and probably not at all accurate. I got the trilogy… Which was jerk pork, Mahi Mahi and coconut shrimp($ 20) and my husband got the coconut shrimp($ 16) both came with a side of rice and beans and a side salad. Overall the meal was mediocre… The jerk pork was good, and surprisingly juicy. Sides were lacking. Rice and beans and side salad were just ok. We heard the key lime was good so we decided to try it… Definitely not key lime pie… It’s more like a cheesecake… Very odd my husband hated it… But he is a keylime pie lover… I thought it was a lime flavored cheesecake… So if that sounds good to you you will like it. Overall just an average place… Good service, but probably won’t return…

I was so disappointed especially given the fact it has such great reviews. Our friend frequents this place and when he said it behind apartment buildings and tennis courts, I thought his auto correct was messing with him. It’s in a secluded wooded area by a golf course and a tennis academy so it feels homey and warm when you drive up to it. It feels like a dark and dank Jimmy Buffets, which I like. There is no real sense of flow to this place and it’s very cozy-we could hear the managers conversations with servers counting her tips since they were just inches away from us at a round cocktail table. It’s dimly lit, feels sketchy but the staffers look like country club tennis instructors. Personally, I think they’d all look better in Hawaiian fun guy shirts. Since this was our first time, I ordered a combination plate. It was served with coconut shrimp, mahi and rice. It was heavily salted and terrible. Never again.

Don’t be fooled by the outside, this place is a gem! Definitely get the key lime pie martini! The food is really good and has a delicious Caribbean flair!

If this place isn’t the definition of «out-of-the-way», I don’t know what is. We followed our GPS to a shack hidden in the backwoods of what felt like a trailer park but was actually a nicely hidden neighborhood. Our reward was a sea shanty/Caribbean-ish decorated dark hideaway. There was promise here… but unfortunately the promise was more than the reward. While«acceptable», there was nothing in our meals that stood out. I had the Frogmore Stew, more a collection of cooked items than a traditional stew. None of the flavors stood out, nor did they for one diner’s Baby Back ribs. Mind you, we weren’t disappointed, more just not impressed.

I have mixed feelings about this place. The good— Let me first say my food was good. I ordered the dolphin sandwich and the hubby got the crab meat sandwich. We also ordered the jerk wings and our total bill came out to be approximately $ 35. So prices are relatively inexpensive. The weird, it isn’t necessarily bad but it wasn’t necessarily something that I look forward to when I go to a restaurant— The outside is less than desirable. It looks pretty dumpy and you have to wonder if the place inside is just as bad. The inside is dark and dated. Tables are covered with green plastic tablecloths and the bathroom does not have doors to separate the toilets, but only shower curtains on a rod. They have an outdoor patio section but anytime somebody goes in and out it blows in the smoke and it circulates the inside of the restaurant quite rapidly. Our waiter was friendly and the general manager of the restaurant stopped by after we finished our food to ask as if everything was okay. He insisted that we try the key lime pie and gave it to us for free as a courtesy for being new customers. I thought it was very gracious of him. We came in on a early Saturday night and by the time we were leaving they started to get busy. My husband and I were the only young couple in there and everyone else was in their 50s and older. It appeared that everyone in there were frequent returners, which probably says good things about the establishment. So some of the things I mentioned in the weird category propbably don’t matter to their customer base, since some of those things and the décor like the shower rod look like they’ve been there forever. The food here was good, but the key lime pie was less than desirable. If I am in the mood to get some seafood I will consider coming by this establishment again especially since everyone was so friendly. Next time I’ll take a picture of the bathroom because it’s definitely a photo.

Everything about this place is great! The atmosphere is laid back. You can dress up or down it’s really up to you. The servers are always nice and can answer any questions you have. Their food is always fresh served at the right temperature and seasoned perfectly. Their best appetizer in my opinion is their jerk wings. You can honestly have them as a meal by themselves if you want. If you have to choose between their she crab soup and house salad don’t choose get both. With regards to entrees everything I have had is good the trio was my favorite though.

The food was very good. We started the evening with the refried bean dip, very tasty but too many green onions were used for our taste, we ended up picking off most of them. I ordered the New Orleans fried shrimp. Very good overall. Came with saffron rice and black beans. He got the Jerk chicken. The chicken was moist and a large portion, 2 thighs and 2 wings and came with a house sauce that added a fantastic flavor and kick. We highly recommend coming here.

Go here for bold flavors. Stay away from everything else. The jerk pork and New Orleans shrimp were excellent. The flavors were bold and those items were well seasoned. My wife’s shrimp and grits and my coconut shrimp and filet were under seasoned. It tasted very bland and there seemed to be a lack of salt. It was unfortunate as the filet itself was cooked very well and the texture was fantastic. It just needed more salt to bring out the flavor. I was a little disappointed when they brought out the check and there was an unexplained upcharge. Apparently when you get the trilogy you will be uncharged $ 6 if you choose the filet. This was not explained to me by the server. I wouldn’t have minded the upcharge and would have still made the same choice but it is not fun to see a surprise on the bill. Our server was DJ and he was fantastic overall.

Food was tender but tasteless. I was left looking around the salt and pepper, there were none on any of the tables. Prices were normal for the types of food offered. I guess if you haven’t been to the islands and eaten there, then this may not be bad. I would definitely not return. Lastly the manager struck a conversation with my husband were he was informed that I too was in the military, he proceeded on thanking only my my husband for his service. I guess women don’t really do anything, right? Positives: at least I didn’t have to cook tonight.

I liked how ducked away and private it was, went with a friend who didn’t enjoy her meal too much, but I got their shrimp and grits which was expensive but so good, piping hot, and filling. Great ambiance, my waitress was lacking, but the host was very warm and fun. I liked it. I’ll go back, my friend – probably not lol.

We’ve come to this restaurant several times. It is absolutely wonderful. The food is very good. The restaurant is kinda hard to find. The GPS always gets confused. Its tucked in next to an apartment complex… near the tennis courts. The Shrimp pâté for an appetizer is great. I think you should try it. I ordered the jerk chicken. It’s a lot of chicken on the plate. It comes with rice and peas, salad, and rolls. We were greeted at the door upon arrival by a really nice and friendly guy. Also our server was super good. The place is nicely decorated to give that Caribbean feel to it. Great aquarium. If you’re ever in the Augusta area, give this place a try. It’s only a few minutes away from the mall.

We gave it a try. Nice casual décor. I had the New Orleans fried shrimp. They were kind of small and just ok. The salad was not crisp and it seemed that it was made earlier in the day. There was a small portion of seasoned rice with black beans. The beans had good flavor. The prices are over the top for the quality and portion size. Also had the shrimp and grits. It had great seafood flavor bit kind of short on shrimp. At $ 20 I expect a shrimp and grits that will knock my socks off. Service was good. Quality and and portion size did not meet the high priced menu. Can’t say I will be back.

Just awesome. Our waitress was amazing. My glass never got under half full, food came out promptly and steaming hot. Their rolls are amazing, flaky and just GOOD. I had the shrimp and grits the husband had the low country boil. His boil was SPICY. So beware, by lips were still burning as I paid the check! My shrimp and grits was so amazingly delicious. The seafood tasted fresh! The only thing I would say is their salad was a little… weird. It tasty slimy… idk I think it was the dressing. Next time I will ask for the dressing on the side. Our waitress noticed we didn’t each much of them and asked if we would like a soup instead. We both declined but her gesture and customer service were awesome! 100%, I will be back!

I was SO excited to go here. Had some friends that went and they enjoyed it. BF had the scallops, they were pretty good, friend had the chef special trout. He used the term«delicious». The girls had the jerk chicken after the waitress explained the slow rotisserie roasting and how juicy and yummy… TOTAL letdown. Those were to absolute 2 driest chunks of chicken I have ever had at a restaurant. We were joking about the turkey the Grizwald’s had on National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. Won’t spend my dough there.

If you want healthy options choose Rae’s Coastal Café. We had the mahi mahi(shared the 6oz) with saffron rice and blackbeans. Rae’s manager tells me they make everything from scratch and keep an eye towards consumers health. Our meal was very affordable at $ 5 roughly per person when we split the meal in half. You’ll need your gps to find Rae’s inside the Forest Hills Tennis Club but it’s well worth the effort for this gem off the beaten path. Great forested area and quiet with coastal/tiki theme inside and out. They receive 5 stars for healthy options and portions. Starting a gluten free menu soon.

I really enjoyed my dining experience at Rae’s! Its a great find in the middle of Augusta. Rae’s is named after Rae’s creek, which runs directly next to the restaurant. The restaurant will remind of you places in the Florida Keys. The food has a strong Caribbean influence, hence many of the jerk offerings on the menu. Despite its unassuming location in the middle of a subdivision, Rae’s was super busy on a very rainy Friday at 6 pm. We had to wait around 20 minutes to be seated. But it made for a good excuse to grab a drink at the bar. The bartenders were super friendly and nice! We had the jerk chicken wings and green jacket salad as our starters. The wings were very tasty… they were deep fried, which gave them a nice crispy finish with a taste complimented by subtle jerk flavor. I actually wish they were grilled(to enhance the jerk flavor) instead of fried but they were still pretty good. The green jacket salad albeit simple, was also pretty good. It was iceberg lettuce topped with Rae’s secret vinegarette dressing, homemade pita croutons, red peppers, and tomatoes. There is lot of tradition behind the salad being made«as-is», but adding mixed greens would have been a home run. For our entrees, we tried the Cajun Mahi, Scallop special with coconut shrimp, and the Trio. The Mahi was good and had some kick to it. The scallops were very flavorful and served in a sweet sauce that nicely complimented the fresh taste of the scallops. The coconut shrimp were very tasty too. The trio was also very good and came with a nice sized piece of fish, steak, and chicken. The key lime pie was awesome and tasted better than any pie I had in the Florida Keys! It was made with fantastic crust and topped with homemade whipped cream. The flavor profile was definitely more sweet than tart. The service was great! The manager even came around to introduce himself, tell us the history of Rae’s, and make sure everything was going ok! Overall, great people, great key lime pie, good food, and fun atmosphere! Try it!
