I’ll preface this review by saying that I have not been down to Shenanigan’s in at least a year. The last time I was persuaded to walk through the doors and down the stairs to this basement bar, there were three fights in close proximity to my group of friends and all within about fifteen minutes. We left shortly thereafter. When you’re not being pummeled from every side, this is a great people-watching bar. I’m sure it’s a lot of fun if you’re young and/or are already wasted. If I recall, they have a couple of pool tables that were nice back in the day, can’t vouch for them now though. Probably the best part about this place is the dance floor and the fact that they actually expect people to come in and dance(most other places around here don’t even have a dance floor). Oh yeah, and apparently they sometimes host«chem-free» parties for ages 14 – 20. Before it was Shenanigan’s, this establishment was Doobie’s; before that, it was«On the Rocks» or OTR, and it’s been many many things(once, an Irish pub/restaurant, and back in the nineties I believe it was called«Not Fade Away,» which I think was an all ages club). Back in the reign of OTR, there used to be a good group of regulars and the karaōke was fun; they held weekly contests with actual cash prizes. Honestly, I’m not sure if this place has improved since I’ve been down there, but I’m not in any big hurry to find out. This is a sure sign I’m getting old, but I’m OK with that.
