This update is for the date of December 2, 2015. I attended a funeral that day out of town and not eating at the repast at the funeral; my mother, my cousin, and I decided to dine here. To my surprise that day was a great day to eat here!!! The food was delicious!!! I had a small salad to start my meal off. I didn’t want stuff myself with salad before my GOOD meal, as Madea would say. That salad was soooooo good I wanted to eat just salad!!! But I wanted some real food as well. I had fried chicken, rice and gravy, cabbage, rutabagas, liver and onions, collard greens, and sweet potato soufflé. Everything was DELICIOUS!!! I had to force myself to eat all that because I was so stuffed. I wanted another plate of real food and another salad but my stomach wouldn’t allow it!!! I see why my neighbor eats here almost every day, and we did see him come in that day, because it’s good food that you can really enjoy. I’m trying to set up my next visit NOW!!! I was very much pleased about everything I had on that visit!!! This day has me rethink my first review SERIOUSLY!!!

I have a special place in my heart for this place. I remember my godfather bringing me here after church on Sundays at least once per month. The food was good and it was always packed. As an adult, like other reviewers have mentioned. it can be hit or miss from visit to visit. I will say that they are more on top of it than not. Mister loves this place.

I was traveling through Augusta and happened to see this place. They are very friendly and the fried chicken is excellent. They have a very large selection at a reasonable price. I will eat here again the next time I am in Augusta.

Price point good for what they offer. The food here can be hit or miss. Sometimes great, sometimes not so. The cooks can at times be heavy handed on salt, so be careful if that is something that gives you trouble. The wait staff is great on keeping drinks filled and attentive to your needs.

The very best part of my dining exsperience: fried chicken & the attentive service with a southern smile. The food was routinely rotated & replaced w lots more hot & fresh food. Simple, striaght forward southern food in fresh abundance. I typically do not eat @ buffets(the NE is not know for good buffets). The fried chicken is excellent: tender, moist, crunchy, lightly spiced &NOT greasy. The mac & cheese is very buttery & cheesy, lima beans, greens, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, sweet potaoes(w too much all spice for me), creamed corn, pork chops, fried fish, green beans, & lots of veggies for salad. Texas Pete sauce & hot pepper vinager for the greens. Excellent fresh brewed tea & sweet tea. I was not as impressed w the desserts. I have had excellent banana pudding but sorry to say NOT here. We went for Sunday dinner so it was $ 8.95– amazing for all you can eat! Private parking. Pretty clean.
