Athletico Physical Therapy – Aurora South

I received physical therapy at the Athletico Aurora South location in June, July and August following surgery for a bimalleolar ankle fracture.
My first therapist, Joe A., was great, especially with the manual manipulation of my ankle, something I needed desperately when I started after 2 months in a cast and CamWalker. He was also helpful in advising me on when to get rid of the crutches, weening off the CamWalker, etc. He got me moving again, and helped me start to become a little more confident in the ankle.
After Joe left, my new therapist, Chris W, took over. He really pushed my abilities. Every time I started to feel confident at a task, he would up the ante and make it difficult again. Constantly pushing me to become stronger, improve my balance, and gain even more confidence in my ankle. Chris made me laugh every day, so even when things were tough, I was enjoying my time. By the time Chris was done with me, I was back to heading in to Cubs games at Wrigley Field on my own and had gotten over my fear of walking by myself in Chicago. (I had broken my ankle outside of Wrigley Field after a game.)
All along the way, I had the assistance of Gabby, the office therapy assistant, receptionist, jack of all trades. She was always available to assist when Joe or Chris were occupied with another patient. She is friendly, fun, and a great asset to the office. She does a great job carrying out the plans that the PTs put in place for us patients. She knows the exercises well and even helps us remember them with her fun names for them.
Honestly, I would still go to therapy every day if I could because I truly enjoyed it, even when it was hard, because of the people. Joe, Chris and Gabby did such a good job working with me and my ankle, that home exercises are plenty. I am back to all my normal activities. If I ever need therapy again, I will definitely go back to Athletico Aurora South.
