Basement of the Dead — Escape Room Dr. Trauma is harvesting organs at this haunted house and he’s giving you and your friends 60 minutes to escape from the room. For $ 30 per person(or $ 24 if you have the Groupon), you can see if you and the people in the room can work together to find clues to get the code for the door. There are 2 modes of play — normal and expert. With the normal mode, the guide will help with organizing the clues gathered on the whiteboard and provide up to 3 hints during the game. With expert mode, the guide will just observe without any hints. You can book online and there’s a maximum of 10 people per each 1 hour spot. My friends and I had a great time here, even though we didn’t quite make it out of the room. Some of the activities included finding a password for the laptop, solving word puzzles, finding keys, decoding messages, looking for lock combinations and opening a puzzle box. The people working here were super nice! We had a couple of friends that were running late and it wasn’t an issue for them to join. The guide we had tried to help us as best as he could during the game. Location: Behind Doughballs and Ballydoyle, walk down the stairs to the back and you can’t miss it. You won’t see it from New York St. There is street parking available or parking lot on Rivers. Read my other review if you’re interested in the haunted house part of this. They also have laser tag here, which I have not tried.

Wonderful! We bought the VIP Groupon for two(great deal!) and waited only about 5 minutes before we went inside — it was amazingly scary and detailed and the actors really got into it! They got just close enough to make me uncomfortable(but refrained from breathing/spitting on the back of my neck like at another haunted house I went to this season). The costumes of the outside entertainment staff were great and everyone who worked there was very polite and respectful. I had wanted to head to this haunt for years but never made the drive; I’m so glad that I did! My husband and I will definitely be returning in the future — highly recommended!

This is an amazing haunted house. I’m reluctant to get too specific as to not spoil anything, but LOADS of effort went into designing and staffing this whole thing. The best part about it all is they very deliberately put through super tiny groups paced reasonably well. There were more than a few times where we felt like we were totally alone inside, which is a really neat feeling for a haunted house. We ended up getting VIP tickets via Groupon, so I can’t really comment on the wait as we went inside pretty quickly. There were a lot of people in costume wandering around outside, so it almost would’ve been cooler to spend a bit more time to see them all, but again, the attraction is the haunted house, not the line, so, whatever. Shattered is another one of those 3D haunted houses which have come into fashion recently. You’ve got glasses they give you, and the neon blacklight paint produces a cool 3D effect. This isn’t really scary as much as it is just a neat sideshow /value-add sort of thing. One thing they do with this one that I haven’t seen at other similar haunted houses is give you a blacklight flashlight for this portion. It really makes the 3D pop when you can illuminate exactly what you’re looking at. Basement of the Dead is easily among the best haunted houses in the area. Like all these things, be sure to check Groupon and Living Social for deals first, but otherwise, don’t miss this place during Halloween.

Great haunted house, Made a day of it they have one in Montgomery IL(Massacre haunted house). Hit this one up first and it was GREAT. alot of different scenes inside, all kinds of different things to throw you off as you venture in. The dark maze part was by far the most fun and you defiantly can feel the pressure to get out because it is full of random scares until you leave. Overall Price and attraction ratio i was impressed, I dont scare easy but they got me a few times, and good ones too not just minor jumps. Id advise any halloween/haunted house fan to check this out.

Pretty good, about a 30 minute wait in line, but the basement of the dead was better than the 3D maze one because the 3D maze was short and not as scary as the basement of the dead. What got me the most was the air that just popped out at you. But at the end of this it’s scary!

Awesome haunted house! The actors were talented, the set up looked real and the experience was super scary! There were also some cool tricks used to intensify the scare! VIP is worth every penny!

Loved the dark maze as I would call it. The second part the 3-d clown house coulda been a little longer, but overall good!

$ 25– 2 attractions! You can’t beat that deal! It was a great experience as well! Get there early to avoid paying the VIP and long line. DJ Creature spinning some great hits!!! Def keeps you entertained while waiting and they have munchies for you to purchase! The haunted house was great but short! It was such a good scare and wished it lasted longer! Our group was trapped in a cage and had the walls coming down on us that was amazing!!! That was the highlight of our night!!! All screams and pleas to get out!!! The 3D was great not as scary and shorter. Overall it was an amazing experience! You have to check it out!

We haven’t been to too many haunted houses in Illinois(maybe three others), but this one takes the cake out of the ones we’ve been to. My boyfriend and I just left here, and it was quite the fun time! One of the employees was willing to honor the $ 40VIP online price when we paid at the gate, so it was nice to skip through the line and get right in! The first house was pitch black and full of jump scares! I don’t want to ruin it, but as one reviewer said, they definitely played with your senses quite a bit here. It wasn’t a typical room-to-room sequence, but rather a maze of obstacles to squeeze, push, and blindly navigate through at times; and when there was light, we were greeted with excellent actors and scenes. We both found ourselves screaming quite a bit; some of the tricks they used here were things we had never seen in a haunted house before. There were moments in which we became quite dizzy, so beware if you’re easily affected by motion sickness! Our only complaint was that we were moved through the two houses rather quickly. When we stopped to examine the scenery, an actor told us to move along. Of course they needed to keep the lines moving, so it’s not a huge deal. I’d say that we spent about 15 minutes in the first house and 10 minutes in the second house. The general admission lines were VERY long by the looks of it, so unless you’re willing to wait outside for a few hours, I’d recommend buying VIP tickets.

By Far the best haunted house . They play with the mind and the darkness, interior and actors creates confusion, fear and haunts you till the end. Adding 3d(Shattered), it just takes your fear to another level. The usage of 3D affects is phenomenal. Every person in Illinois should go to this haunted house and appreciate the art of scaring. Definitely recommend it and will go next year too. Guys keep up the good work.

Visited both of these haunted houses last night. they were awesome! Got a great spook from the first one and the second one was trippy yet still scary since you wear 3d glasses and the scenery pops out at you! Would highly recommend basement of the dead, where all your worst nightmares will come to life! Your in for quite a thrill!

My wife and I went here in early October and had a great time. I don’t want to give away any of the surprises but it was creative and used a lot of different approaches to set the mood and scare people. We didn’t get to experience the line as we went with the VIP/fast pass but on our way out we noticed they did a good job of keeping people entertained with music, actors, and activities while you wait. The best part was that they send you through in small groups, we had 4 in our trip through. which seemed to be the perfect amount. There was a lot of variance in the themes from room to room you went through. The location was a little difficult to find and we couldn’t find any convenient free parking, so keep that in mind, but it was well worth the slightly added challenge and cost. We will be coming back next year.

This was the first haunted house that I have been too, and I have to say that I loved it! It was just the right amount of scary, without being too overwhelming. It lasted probably about 15 minutes. Which was just enough for me! There were some parts that were completely dark, so be prepared to have to feel your way around. All the actors did a really good job, and they even have ones outside while waiting in line which makes waiting not so bad! I would highly recommend, I will definitely be back every year.

But far the best haunted houses(2) I have been to. Great staff and just the right amount of really scary effects. Loved this place. They do it all right. Head upstairs to the Irish pub to grab a great snack and drink too Loved the 3-D added on second haunted house too, wow.

Maybe because I am slightly biased but this is a very good haunted house! I live in Aurora and I live like less then 5 miles away. I never been to this house for years because I thought it was lame. Was I wrong! That year I went I figured I go to ALL of the Chicago land area haunted houses. I went to 5. And this was the best one by far! I went with one friend and what I like is that they separated you by yourself. The house is SODARK I couldnt see anything which made it scarier. This is pretty cheap in price too so seriously go to this one. The line isn’t that long and the length is pretty good. I like the first part a lot better then the second part.

Tis the season! I had never been until this year to Basement of the Dead, but after hearing the positives from last year and some this year we decided to check it out. We went with a group of 5, decided to do the 2 house option($ 25 each). The wait in the non –VIP line was roughly an hour and a half. It wasn’t too bad though. You have actors interacting with you and the others around you, along with a dj playing some music while you wait. The house itself was good, they play a lot on the dark and quick lights to disorient you, which was done well. 2 vortexes! That’s just cruel, but in a fun way. The line was timed well so we didn’t hit the group that went in before us too much. And the 3d haunted part(the 2nd house) was way better than I thought it would be. The glasses really made everything pop out at you with the bright colors. Sound is the focus in the 2nd house with lots of loud horns throughout. All in all we had a great experience, and I would definitely recommend a visit!

A top rated haunted house in Aurora? Yes, this haunted house is soooo scary. Just remember they can’t touch you, it’s hard to remember though… This place looks so real. This year they have two houses!!! Believe it or not, cheaper then Statesville. This place is amazing, the actors are the best I’ve ever seem and the outside entertainment is unbelievable. You got to go!!!
