E-470 Public Highway Authority

Over $ 5 for a short 6 mile trip with the transponder. Really? E-​470 reminds me of the military industrial complex. They are always adding new features, but could care less about keeping the price reasonable. In this day and age of mobile phones do we really need to be paying for teams to drive around in case someone breaks down?

I thought it would be worth mentioning that after writing reviews and making a stink I finally got these people to waive my charges. Prior to writing reviews all they were willing to do was tell me that «the tolls are valid».
There are still no signs that state a transponder is needed for HOV users. I believe they are intentionally deceptive. If you missed the supposed media campaign or you’re from out of town or out of state you’ll be charged for something seemingly marked as free with no recourse. It’s a scam.

I was given a bill for $ 10:35 for apparently going on this road that I wasn’t even aware I ever was on to begin with (lack of signs or something, who knows… I’m from Fort Collins), never the less I got charged three separate amounts o $ 3.45 once for E470 Plaza C North and twice for E470 Plaza D North… the funny thing being that BOTH statements for Plaza D North have the exact same time 2:35am for both times, how is that even possible? Was I charged twice for the same thing or occurrence? Yes, $ 10.35 is not a ton of money, however, if they do that to thousands of people each week, it sure does add up to a lot of money! They need more signs and warnings letting you know about the fees… if people were smart, they would just cover up their license plates so their stupid machines can’t illegally charge them… or maybe even cover them up with snow during the winter time! What a scam and rip off!

I just got a bill. 3.98 for the i25 central north which is bs and funny. I told my wife there was no charge and she said there was a charge. Maybe I was thinking the old one where it showed hov for free. Then another charge for 3.45 of e470 Plaza north. I was never in that Lane so I don’t know how to even contest it. Anyways, what a joke. I can’t believe we have to be subject to this in our state. It’s the same road I’ve driven on for over 30 years for Petes sake. How is it now a toll road in Colorado? Why didn’t we use our pot refund on this?

Confusing, expensive, and lazy. 2 PhDs in a car couldn’t figure out what is charged from the signage. I have seen many tollways in the country and never seen one with no tollbooths. I’ve also never seen toll roads this expensive, despite no booths or employees manning them.

I used to travel out of DIA often for work and I used E-​470 for convenience and to save time. I hadn’t traveled on 470 for a couple of years as I don’t travel like I used to. The tolls, which are going up yet again in 2016, are exorbitant! From Smokey Hill Rd. to Brighton the one-​way toll is over 15 dollars. Taking Buckley and then Tower Rd. may take about 10 minutes longer at the most and is actually fewer miles and it doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. E-​470 is a total ripoff. Let the out of towners have this POS highway and let them get ripped off. If you live here and use E-​470 regularly then your a sucker.

Recently was charged $ 27 for 30 minutes getting inadvertantly on and off the E-​470 returning to the Denver airport gas station to look for a lost cell phone and then going back to the airport to return a rental car. The bill shows we were only on the E-​470 for a few minutes at a time, but were on it repeatedly as we circled around. I recall seeing NO signs indicating this was a toll road and received no bill, the charge was simply taken from my credit card (as per rental car agreement).

I know E-​470 does not control the administrative fee, but still all the toll charges within minutes of eachother when neither the fact that this was a toll road, nor the price of the tolls was advertised seems unfair.

There should be a substantial discount for companies that have purchased passanger vehicles in order to have 12 – 15 people travel at a time. This saves Colorado energy and congestion on roads. Im literally paying thousands of dollars a year in tolls to go to 1 jobsite.

I recently received a toll bill in the mail for being forced to travel in the toll lane instead of the HOV lane due to road construction shutting down the HOV lane. On I-​25 Northbound I was in the HOW lane when construction cones forced all traffic to merge into the toll lane while passing the toll station. I was told by customer service that they had no record of that road work and that «anytime» lanes are restricted or closed the tolling would be shut off during that time. Clearly this is not true and the tolling authority is not coordinated enough to figure this out!
I also have to say that while recent changes to HOV lanes and transponders were well publicized on US-​36, they were very poorly signed and advertised for I-​25 Express Lanes. Many others have made this same comment and much better signage could have been installed or included on I-​25 VMS boards. Stop kidding yourself that HOV is free… it is NOT! You have to pay for a transponder to not get charged for traveling in «free» lanes, let’s just be honest here!!!

Yes. Its highway robbery almost 50 $ for using this road in denver in rental car. Avoid at all costs.

Most expensive road EVER! Was also told today that it would never be paid off and will forever more be a toll road by customer service! What a scam! Unfortunately, there is not much of an alternative in SE Aurora so they have us continuing to support this ridiculousness! Avoid at all cost (literally, more than my actual car payment!!!)

I was stuck with a flat tier right outside the airport and couldn’t work the jack that was in my car. I called and with in ten minutes I was helped. Really great customer service on the phone. On the scene Bruce helped me quick, and I was on the road and on my way. Very thankful for everyone I talked to today. You guys saved the day!

No, it isn’t cheap. But for me the alternative (i.e. I-​25) is worse. I figure it is safer and less stressful and puts less wear & tear on the car (maybe not tires) which amounts for something. With the transponder there is a 15% discount. In addition, I have had no issues with billing. The website highlights the costs, so best to have a look first.
I have seen the E-​470 roadside assistance on several occasions, so it looks like they are responsive.
My only complaint is that it wasn’t real clear that the NorthWest Parkway (NWP) is a separate toll road (different ownership). This seems a bit strange to have 1 toll road morphing into another, but whatever. NWP is ridiculously priced… makes E-​470 look reasonable. There is signage around I-​25, but I wasn’t sure what it was until later. Anyways, I get off at I-​25 to avoid NWP.

We used to take this toll road all the time to the airport because it was a bit faster. And it usually only cost like $ 5-​$ 6 bucks, which was worth it for the convenience if you’re in a rush to get to the airport. I took the toll road in early June to pick up my husband. Got a bill for $ 5 from Express Toll (which sounded like our normal amount) so I paid it and thought we are good.
Just got another bill for $ 7 from apparently another toll company Northwest Parkways. *Granted we are not talking about massive amounts of money here but $ 13 to use the toll road for such a short drive seems ridiculous. It didn’t even save that much time.
Will never be using this toll road again. Heads up to others who use this road that the cost has doubled! Never had to pay two separate toll companies before. And for out of staters: don’t use this toll road!

I’m only giving them one star because I can’t put 0. I just moved to Boulder and my Dad came to visit me so I made 2 trips to the airport. A month later I get a bill from Northwest parkway for $ 16. I thought this was the toll for the whole drive. Today I get a bill in the mail from E470 for $ 27.60. I thought it was an error but turns out to drive to the airport you need to pay two different companies totaling $ 43.60! It didn’t seem like the road was paved in gold, WTF! Not to mention despite the signs I still couldn’t tell weather I was actually being charged or what was going on. My GPS just took me that way.
I will never ever drive this road again. This is absolutely insane. I’ve never felt so ripped off in my entire life. There should be signs that say it costs over $ 10 one way to the airport. I thought It was only a few bucks here and there which I would be more than happy to pay.

I would give five stars to Alexa Pecorella, e470 Marketing Coordinator who helped me with toll charges after I moved out of state. My bills did not route to the proper address and I was charged several late fees years after I moved from Colorado. Alexa helped resolve this problem and went the extra mile of great customer service. I will drive this toll again.

I needed to get to the airport fast and didn’t want any traffic delays so I heard the traffic on the toll road was not a big deal. Routed my GPS to go that way and wham! I there. Coming from the Bay Area paying tolls is no big deal. I think I paid like just $ 2.50 or something for the section I used. Compared to paying $ 5.00 just to cross a bridge or $ 7.00 for the Golden Gate, this ain’t nuttin’! I was zooming right along. This is the first toll road I ever drove that wasn’t a bridge. I liked that there was already a Unilocal listing and there was someone from the toll authority responding to the reviews! I guess there are some problems with the automated license plate reader thingy … there is on the Golden Gate as well! I wanna drive that 85mph toll road in Texas!

Every-​time you drive on this road, you will be charged a late fee. They will wait until it’s in collections to send the first bill in order to scam more money from you every single time. Figure on at least 3x times the posted toll rates. Good luck being proactive and paying on their website as their customer service people suggest. It’s incredibly buggy and you’ll likely get stuck at the «this feature isn’t available for your account» or, they’ll randomly lock your account. Or, you’ll get in and the fees just won’t be there until the late fees have accumulated. They will not work with you or correct a thing! These people are begging for a class action and government takeover. Any rookie attorney could make millions and I hope it happens.
Funny side note, you can actually login to your account or anyone else’s without a password. This is useful for when they lock you out and can’t seem to fix it. Just punch in the driver’s license and name. When it errors out saying you’re locked, hit refresh and you’re in. Nice! Now, if you feel comfortable actually paying over such a «secure» system, I might question your intelligence.

Nice Road, TERRIBLE billing system. Avoid at all costs. Its just not worth the hassle of paying your bill, then getting another bill because they can’t get it right. You are better off sitting on US 36, I-​25, 270 or 70 than racing down on the tollway because you know you are going to spend hours on hold until they un-​screw your account.

Just as reviews below, they sent my bill to collections as well who further charged me $ 55 instead of $ 10. I am pretty sure this strategy is a part of their business model to make money from people. Why doesnt this toll have a normal cash/​card system at te end? There are virtually no instructions on how to pay the tolls either ANYWHERE. Apparently they sent my bill to my «address» but i never got it, as reviews show below. They never even tried to contact me directly through phone until a collection agency called me.
When i asked them for a refund, they said — «we can waive your collection fee if you buy a pre-​pay card from us to use the toll road regularly». This is absurd. Please avoid this toll at all costs. Its not worth the hassle.
