After several visits to Golden Phoenix, it is time I review. I am going to be honest. I went here so many times because I honestly didn’t think I was going to love it like I do. You pull up to what looks like hole in the wall spot with a «rough» looking exterior. Then you walk in to a bar that no one even uses and proceed to the dining room that is very«cultural» and cool looking. I am thinking, «there is no way this place is good» Well I was WRONG. Every single visit and many dishes later, this is one of the best kept secrets at Hampden in Aurora! Curry Chicken, Chicken Satay, Shrimp fried rice, Pork fried rice, chicken and broccoli, beef and broccoli, mongolian beef, sweet and sour chicken, hot and sour soup, and even the CREAMCHEESEWONTONS!!! The theme song for this restaurant should be ALL I DOISWIN!!! Seriously, if you live within 10 miles of this place, do yourself and your family a favor and go to the best Asian restaurant within that distance!!! DOIT!!!

Ordered delivery driver prompt. Sashimi excellent. Chinese food on the other hand dripping in greese. Mongolian Beef had puddles of greese in the box. Hot and Sour soup was swimming in it. Pork Lo Mein was very bland and greasy. Last but least portion sizes were very small compared to other Asian cuisine reastaurants. This will be my first and last 35 $ spent at the Golden Phoenix!!!

Doesn’t look like much from the outside but it is really nice inside. Great selection of sushi.

When you walk into this place I have to admit the area that is in and the front of the building makes you grab onto your purse. When you get in the inside is very well put together. Very intricate designs. We went for a Friday night dinner. Not very many people in the place but a good sign was the two other group of people there were regulars. We ordered alot of items and most were recommendations from others around us. We crab rangoons as an appetizer and they were ok not much fluff. Then we ordered three sushi rolls. All of them being great with my preference being the spicy tuna roll add cream cheese. We also had seasame chicken with white meat and it was great. Green curry chicken was very interesting and also was great. Tempura vegetables were good. Believe it or not the thing that stood out the most to me was the Thai fried rice with shrimp, it was just really really good! I would go back here for sure. The waitress was great and very attentive. I look forward to dining here in the future as the prices were very reasonable as well.

Oh how this place has fallen. I have quite bit of history with Golden Phoenix, went to high school with the previous owner’s son. It really used to be a joy for and a date for my wife and I to come here and eat sushi and Chinese food. But after today I won’t be back. We ordered the Bronco roll and Aurora roll, 2 rolls we both USED to enjoy. Both came so fried they were grey and laden with old fry oil. The salmon in the roll was dry and dusty tasking. My spicy tuna handroll had brown avocado and odd tasting tuna, and the ginger, the ginger just needs to be thrown out. It looked like they no longer have a real sushi chef, just one guy doing all the cooking, Chinese, Thai, Japanese and Sushi. The one redeeming dish was the Tom Kha chicken soup, we both enjoyed it. Thats the only reason the«New» Golden Phoenix doesn’t have one star. I hope the rest of the Thai food is as good and the new owners just drop the sushi and bad chinese food…

Great food and very affordable… BOGO on saki, huge sushi pieces. Kind scary from the outside but inside is quite traditional.

Delivery order was accurate, well wrapped, and arrived a bit before the 45 minute estimate. We ordered a ton and sampled a bit of each item. Panang chicken = first time we’ve had this so we didn’t have anything to compare it to, but I liked it. Pad Thai = I wasn’t expecting to like this as much as I did, since I’ve had bad luck ordering Thai food from anything other than an authentic Thai focused restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised here. I prefer this sweet pad Thai with traditional noodles to all other delivery pad Thai I’ve had. Keep in mind that I order my Thai food with NO spice, so if you’re curious about the spice factor you’ll want to read other reviews. :) Sesame chicken and hot and sour soup = my husband didn’t like these. The quality was good he said, but just not his preferences in either dish. Crab cheese wontons = Just as you’ve expect. Thick wrappers… could have been fresher but still pretty darn good. Sticky rice with mango = hit the jackpot here! Yum! We’ll definitely order delivery again. Next time my husband will choose something different and we’ll see if our combined rating goes up a star.

Mediocre at best. We went at about 4:30 on a Wednesday and the place was empty. A waitress came out to greet us after a minute or two and we decided to sit at the sushi bar. They have happy hour of $ 1 nigiri and buy one get one free drinks specials. The fish quality really isn’t great. I’m gladly surprised we didn’t get sick. The«sushi chef» came out from the back wearing a button down shirt. Looks like he was doing paper work in the back and only came out to make sushi cuz he promptly went back inside. Didn’t say hi, nothing. Just came out, made sushi, and went back in. I ordered a plum wine for their buy one get one and they came out in little mini wine glasses. I mean it comes out to $ 2.50 so it’s fine, but it’s like saying I’m gonna charge you $ 2.50 for wine because I’m only giving you half a glass but hey it’s on special. The rolls weren’t particularly cheap, spicy tuna was almost $ 7. We also ordered their shrimp egg rolls and a tom yum seafood soup. The soup was pretty decent, a little too sour but not bad. I can see how their kitchen food(chinese/thai) might be better than their sushi but for a bill ended up being $ 50, it’s not worth it. Sweet Ginger down at Cherry Creek North has a much better happy hour menu/deal and we fill ourselves on sushi without spending nearly as much.

I hate to knock down the stars because the food was so tasty(try the Tom Kha – coconut soup with lemon grass, lime leaves, onions, and mushrooms), but the service was awful. We finished our food and waited a full fifteen minutes before we received our check.(Meanwhile, we ran out of water after having eaten a bunch of spicy food and the waitress was nowhere in sight). It was another full five minutes before she brought back the card and a to-go container and we were finally able to leave. I would have understood the prolonged wait if the restaurant had been busy, but we were the only ones dining at the restaurant! To make matters worse, I spotted a couple of kids(presumably the waitress’ own children, based on her interaction with them) meandering in and out of the kitchen. Not only is it grossly unsanitary to have underage children walking around where the food is being prepared, it’s completely unprofessional to bring your children to work! Thoroughly disappointing experience.

Okay — I apparently did not have enough of the Awesome dry dock beer at Dry dock brewery for me to appreciate this food. The place was awful. Just awful. It is the 4 star rating on this place that causes me to really wonder about how much I can trust Unilocal I ordered Tso’s chicken. You know.. its easy. Mcdonalds does it. Fry some chicken and a sauce. I don’t know if the chicken was left out baking in the sun for too long or what. .but it had the texture of cardboard and the flavor of rancidity. If I was in the restaurant(and not across the street) I would have sent it back. Maybe my brother faired a little better.. but overall it was horrible. A painful experience that was only soothed slightly by Dry Dock Brewery goodness. Listen to the drydock guy, and order wings.

This place looks a little creepy on the outside and there aren’t any windows, however, the inside is decently swank. I got a groupon for this place and so we figured we would try it out. All of the food was really good, but if you want it spicy you’ll have to explicitly tell them. Its worth checking out and the prices are really good!

Super place! The food is great– quality ingredients cooked perfectly. The service is outstanding everytime, our drinks never go dry and they’re always making sure we’re happy. The prices are ridiculously cheap– my husband and I usually get 3 – 4 entrees with Happy Hour drinks and our bill is never more than $ 54! Eating in the dinning room is nice because there’s never anyone there– seriously, when we eat there it’s just us and one other family!!! So, if you want a good meal in a quiet setting served by people who genuinely care about customer service, patron this place :)

Have I got news for you! As if Japanese and Chinese cuisines weren’t enough, Golden Phoenix has now added a roster of Thai dishes as well! Curries and stirfries and soups — oh wow! You’ll love ‘em.

I just had the best $ 1.50 food experience ever. It was an unassuming bowl of hot and sour soup. My mom pointed out that the $ 1.50 price meant there would be no shrimp. It arrived with puffy, square crackers?. Then I learned. The crackers brought a surprising crunch. The savory broth brought warm layers of heat from both chiles and black pepper. The thin strands of tofu and noodles brought creaminess and the whole soup was surprisingly bright. Chinese food is good. Golden Phoenix is great and it’s a result of great flavors and freshness and an outstanding feel for texture. The mu shu pork crunched with vegetables but you never lost the full yumminess of the pork. The rolls are served pre-rolled. Hosin sauce is on the side. The hot and spicy shrimp is amazing. The sauce is hot but tangy with hints of both china and bbq sauce. Again, the vegetables crunched and the shrimp arrived perfectly. Eat the shrimp quickly though because they will toughen slightly in the warm sauce. Thankfully, the vegetables remain lovely with roasted onion adding a hint of sweet to the mix. Everything else was so good that I’d skip the lemon chicken next time. It was battered and fried and a light lemon sauce is served on the side. The chicken was savory and moist but didn’t compare to the other 2 entrees. The eggrolls were also okay but rolled more like fried spring rolls than eggrolls. Our waitress really helped us pick out the hot and spicy shrimp because the menu does not have detailed descriptions of the entrees. Ask the wait staff about individual entrees so you can find what you really want.

So my sister was in town– so we just had to go get our Golden Phoenix fix-once again the sushi was great, egg rolls were perfection of fried veggie goodness, and the service fantastic! We went for a late lunch and were the only one’s in the place-and we just couldn’t stop laughing about the music that was playing– it was all Billy Joel songs– done jazz /lounge style with no lyrics, hahaha! This totally made our day!(and don’t forget the two for drinks and happy hour prices!!) Love this Place!

This is a little hidden gem that services delish sushi at a great price. They have dollar sushi on the menu all of the time, but I pay a little more for the sashimi. Also two for one drinks. The salmon melts in your mouth. They also have great Chinese and Japonese fare. The music will make you laugh and the inside décor is kitch hard core. The place is usually empty and service may be a little slow, however with a smile. They do alot of take out business so the emptiness is not because their food is bad.

Lunched there again this afternoon. Was pretty dead inside but the meal was very satisfying. Twice cooked pork is my favorite here. I had the place to myself and just enjoyed the décor again. 6.95 wow! What a bargain for twice cooked pork, soup, wonton, fried rice and green tea. mmmmmmm.

went to dinner — and the waitress and staff were so slow. — I wondered if I had escaped back in time to the eighties– The food was good– ordered the orange chicken and a korokke?(potato cake) I guess I look like a ketchup type of guy– the brought ketchup with my korokke. They also brought the rice about twenty minutes before my meal showed up. I also was scared when the waitress brought a flaming brazier to a table full of old people on oxygen. The guy making sushi looked bored and the pregnant waitress seemed bored– this left the little old grandma doing most of the work. The food was ok– I actually kinda enjoyed the dining room going back in time– Just felt like the wait staff were drafted by the family to work in the place. didn’t try the sushi I think one reason I am being hard on the place is I didn’t feel welcomed when I walked in the door. Other people I have talked to love the place.

What is better then sushi? Sushi that is delivered to your house so you can eat it in your PJs while watching a movie! I have fallen in love with Golden Phoenix! Not only do they deliver my favorite food(sushi) but they also offer a large array of japanese and chinese dishes. This is perfect for me since my boyfriend is not much of a sushi lover but he likes chinese food. We both win when we order from Golden Phoenix! Last time I ordered the Philadelphia roll and the spicy tuna roll plus an order of gyoza. My boyfriend had the mongolian beef. Along with a couple of glasses of Prosseco(curtesy of my liquor run earlier that day) it turned out to be an outstanding night! The sushi is great and the fact that it comes to my door makes it even better!

The food is always good here. This was my favorite little corner restaurant for a couple years and then I moved. The woman that runs this place(ie hostess, waitress, food runner, carry-out, etc etc) is fantastic. She’s like your favorite aunt who is very strict but in a most loving way. They have a variety of Chinese and Japanese offerings and a good happy hour. The prices are very reasonable, especially at lunch. Still one of my favorites, although I don’t make it down as often.
