Probably the worst attitude I have gotten from staff. We walked in and we were looking to buy some tops and jeans and when we were finished, my friend went to ring out her bracelet that she bought. She present a roll of pennies since she recently organized her money and she wanted to get rid of them. The woman that dyed her hair 10 different times literally said, «Oh, no. I am not dealing with that. You need to pay some other way». You are not supposed to reject someone’s cash or even coins when they present it to pay, regardless of how big the portion of the money is. We came back a second time to buy something else and then right when we walked in, the same lady said, «What did you say?». She intruded in our conversation that was none of her business. When we were looking around, we saw someone strike up a conversation with us and then we started talking to him. A minute into talking the SAME lady says, «Are you guys going to leave soon?» and right after we responded, she rolled her eyes at us. I don’t know what was going on with that woman, but she has the worst attitude I have ever seen for someone that works at retail. She needs to be fired.

The staff here is incredibly rude. They goof off with each other as opposed to talking to customers or actually working. The one employee that did speak to me during my short visit greeted me with a «what do you want?». My tip? Don’t bother coming to this location. Either find a different mall or shop online!

Apparently, corporate has stopped caring about customers, because they sure don’t instill customer service in their employees. Sunday night, 9 days before Christmas, only 2 employees visible on the sales floor, one of which seemed to be in training — and no manager there at all. Everything is extremely overpriced compared to just a few years ago — not that I could even get my wheelchair around the displays to shop through the whole store if I was willing to pay $ 6 for a little rubber bracelet. I could’ve been upsold, too, if the employees tried at all.

Everytime I go into a Hot Topic, I’m made to feel like I need to leave because I don’t fit into their little goth/emo group. I go in to look for hard to find music because I don’t like buying things online. But, I don’t wear all black, have long hair, wear chains on my pants, or paint my nails black. I’m a normal dude; I wear a shirt, jeans, and Nikes. So sue me if I want to look for CDs there that I know I won’t find anywhere else. Just because my outward appearance isn’t the same as yours, that doesn’t mean we don’t like the same music or movies. The people working at these stores need to grow up. And seriously, do you want to work at Hot Topic your whole life? Isn’t there a point in life where you stop with the goth look and clean yourself up so you can get a real job?

The staff is unseemly moody — maybe that is part getting paid only minimum wage, or part being Goth super teen queen. That aside, they are plainly unkowledgeable about body piercings and their jewelry — don’t. My eyebrow piercing became infected, puss filled and eventually scarred because a clerk sold me a U shaped ring for it, it was too heavy and pulled the skin out — yuck. Ok, I went through a massive Bondage /goth like stage that ended when I got into law school, and I kick myself for donating all of my old pants — but I am not tempted at the prices they present to go and restock my armoire. Over priced, commercialized products. The only good thing they had was a Daria T Shirt, but they didn’t have my size, and don’t even try asking the surly staff.
