I’ve been going to Mehndi to get my eyebrows threaded for several years. I almost never have to wait, they know me, and I’m in and out in less than 10 minutes(which includes chit chat and paying). They charge $ 8 and I always tip, so it’ comes to $ 10 when I’m finished. And there’s a punch card, so after something like ten visits, 11 is free. If there is any negative, the salon is closed on Mondays – like most places. Also, the place isn’t pretty, but they also don’t charge a fortune. We just moved to southern Wisconsin and there’s nothing around here and I’m going to miss Mehndi a lot!

*This review is regarding the threading* This is the first place I found in the area that does threading and I’ve had two good experiences with it. If you have concerns about the threader, ask for it to be done by the owner, she’s quick and pretty flawless. One of the posters said that she’s never had someone use scissors– well, I have and it was at a reputable and expensive spa. It just means you have thick eyebrows and they want to thin them out a bit(logical considering your errant hairs aren’t the only ones that are growing). The price is right, I had been getting eyebrow waxes for years and at 20 bucks a pop, it truly adds up. I pay $ 10 for threading w/tip($ 8 w/o). It’s super quick, barely feels like anything(compared to waxing), and I don’t have to hide for two or three hours to wait for the swelling to go down. Also, they have a pretty convenient way of scheduling appointments, you can do it online, but I just walked on my 2nd visit bc the owner is really great about fitting threading in between other’s appointments.

When I first moved to the neighborhood this was my holy grail spa for facials and scalp massages. Not only are these two services excellent for beauty and health, but also amazing stress relievers. In addition I’ve had massages and pedicures done here. They were great, but staff changed in-between visits. As the time went on, my esthetician left without notice :(and the management may have possibly changed as well. The place had a different feel to it. They did give me a free salt scrub treatment, as a loyal customer perk, which was awesome! But there’s no shower to wash off! The staff is really down to earth and casual. If you’re used to high end salons and spas this place is definitely not for you, even though they have an excellent ayurvedic skincare line that’s rather costly. If you’re into henna treatments, hand dyes, and eyebrow threading this is the place for you. Because of the turnover and the unexpected levels of services from one visit to the other, I opted to start visiting the other(many) spa options around the Naperville and Aurora areas. However, I always have fond memories of when I first came here and how great everything was and everyone was to me. Cheers.

I have a friend who swears by threading. When the threading place by our University(the only one in town) closed, she lamented the loss of her threading salon. I’ve had my brows waxed for years, never had tried threading, but found after moving to the midwest that it has a larger following and lots of places that do it. I chose to visit Mehndi because it’s one of the closer ones to Saint Charles, and after visiting their website found that someone there holds workshops to teach others this technique. I figured that if they taught others, they must be pretty good at it. Boy, was I wrong. I don’t think the girl who did my brows is the one who provides instruction. When I arrived, there was a woman of Indian heritage having her brows done, and she was clearly not pleased with the work being done. That should have been an immediate clue to leave, but I felt bad doing that, so I stayed. I’ve read that in a salon in Chicago threading takes about two minutes, if that; it took this girl at least 10 minutes working on my brows. The tentativeness with which she worked was unnerving; it made me feel as though she didn’t really know what she was doing. It was very painful, though my friend said she felt waxing was more painful. Lastly, the girl trimmed my brows with a scissors; I’ve had my brows waxed at least 20 times, and never once have they used anything besides a tweezer and the wax. I was also put off by this girl’s appearance. She was wearing a pair of sweatpants and an oversized sweatshirt, and her hair pulled into a haphazard ponytail. That’s fine for casual wear, but at work — particularly a beauty salon, in the fashion industry — I feel it’s inappopropriate. I feel that, in an industry like that, your expertise in and knowledge of your field shines through in how well you care for your own appearance. It doesn’t inspire confidence in me that the person I’m going to for a service at a salon doesn’t put any care into how she appears to clients. I wouldn’t suggest this salon to anyone wanting their brows threaded. I can’t speak to the quality of their other services, but avoid this place for brows.
