Tried the all you can eat here instead of katsu which is where I normally go for all you can eat. Way way way to much rice on everything here. They try to fill you up with large amounts of below average rice and mediocre fish. Several friends have tried here also and told me the exact same thing, but I had to try myself. Stay clear.

Hmmm… went there today, just to give it a try. Okay, actually Sushi Katsu was swamped and it was nearly 2pm. STOREWASOPEN, UNLOCKED, BUTCLEARLYNOTOPENFORBUSINESS. It was a complete mess, only couple tables, and stuff scattered everywhere, and empty of any people. Not sure but I am guessing this place has«closed» down.

This place is right next to current incumbent, Sushi Katsu. The premise is the same, all you can eat sushi for not many dollars. They had slightly larger pieces of fish BUT also more rice so it’s a wash with regards to portion. The fish is «ok» but nothing special. Compared to Katsu, more of the rolls have additional sugar so they’re sweeter. Even the BBQ beef is more sweet than it should be. It isn’t bad but nothing about it warrants choosing over katsu. I would also like to throw in that 2 of the 4 people in our dining party thought the rice was abysmal — as in never coming back because the rice was so bad.

If only I can give lower than one star. Me and my fiancé went there for the first time today as he always wanted to try it. It’s new, it’s cheap, it doesn’t have a wait. And yes, now we know why. The fish is not the freshest. If u want to know, try salmon, which is the easiest to tell. It has lot of tendons and chewy. We ordered a freshwater eel roll and the ell is bad, it’s sour. Both of me and my fiancé tasted it and pick out the fish to smell it. It is sour!!! I almost puked and I show it to the chef/owner. He smelled it and rudely reply: it’s from today! Well I don’t care if its from today or an hour ago, it’s bad it’s bad. No excuse!!! He shaked his head and just walked away ignored me. Later the waitress came and said the same thing to me about using new eel. But nothing was handled besides giving me excuses. The rice. Yes the rice, they might as well just force us to eat a bowl of rice before we order. I’m still feeling sick and wants to puke as I’m writing this. Katzu is way better and I’m so calling the health department.

3 stars only cause AYCE(all you can eat) for $ 13 is pretty decent. The food quality was 2 stars, the service was 1.5. There was something about the sushi rice, I couldn’t quite figure out what it was but it was different then every other sushi restaurant. Almost a little sweet, but not in a good way. I wouldn’t say you absolutely have to avoid this place, but I’ll be spending the couple extra dollars and going to Katsu instead in the future.

Initially, we tried to go to katsu, but there was a line out the door. At sumo, we were the only ones in the restaurant for a while. And now I know why. The fish had no taste and poor texture. My mother did not want all you can eat and tried to order yakisoba while the rest had all you can eat and they made a big stink about it. What if you don’t even like sushi? Overall, not a great place as far as service or food but it could be with a few improvements.

I tried this place before reading the reviews that are here. I am glad that I did. I would have never even tried this one out. Food was very good for a sushi bar in Colorado. I do agree that was a bit too much rice, but the flavor was still great. Wait staff was very friendly and attentive to us. Answering questions about the different rolls, or making suggestions when we could not decide on what to get next. New favorite is the«Firecracker» roll. Try it when you go in.

Sushi was bad. Fish was tasteless and everything was over packed with too much rice. Service was a little rude. I had 3 people at my table and they didnt know to bring an extra plate set for the third person and ordered an udon and they didnt know to bring a spoon with it just got chopsticks and when I asked for a spoon I got a long spoon not a soup spoon.

I was excited to try this place because it was new and would offer a comparison to Sushi Katsu across the street. I also figured Sumo Sushi would be less crowded since it’s much lesser known than it’s similarly themed neighbor. I was definitely right about the place not being packed. There were only a couple of other tables occupied, and I quickly learned why. First, the service was abrupt, inattentive, and borderline rude. It’s almost as if the waitstaff couldn’t stand to talk to us or make eye contact. With our plates empty and ready for a second round of sushi, I watched the waiter walk by our table two or three times before I finally flagged him down to ask for another all-you-can-eat menu so we could order more. Second, the food was atrocious. We ordered the the spicy tuna roll crunch and salmon roll crunch and were grossly disappointed to have been served the regular rolls.(What’s the point of ordering the crunchy variety if they’re just going to serve the plain stuff?). The waitress(I should specify that we had two different people waiting on us, both of whom were equally inadequate) did a double take with our plates(perhaps realizing that a mistake had been made), but did not offer to fix the error. The fried calamari tasted like rubber(I’m sure it would have bounced if I had thrown it) and the«dynamite»(baked seafood dip) was a crispy bowl of mayo with chewy chunks. As for the sushi itself, I’ve never seen so much rice packed into a single roll. It was 95% rice with just a spec of fish(I couldn’t even SEE the fish in some of the rolls) and a stringy strand of seaweed. I was so disappointed with the quality of the rolls, what didn’t immediately fall off into my soy sauce I set aside on my plate just to even out the fish to rice ratio. Upon seeing this, the waitress came by and very rudely stated, «We charge for extra rice, SOWATCHIT!» I was so astonished that she would threaten me in such a manner, especially considering that I wouldn’t have even had so much extra rice if they had made their sushi properly! Having only ordered a couple of rolls, I filled up on nothing but rice and couldn’t eat another bite. I tossed the leftover rice in my napkin and threw it away. The $ 14 price tag for all-you-can-eat sushi is not worth it if all you’re going to get is a mountain of rice and a bad attitude from the waitstaff. Save your funds for Sushi Katsu, even if you have to wait to be seated. The food is much better and even in the middle of their lunch rush, they are still friendly.

I haven’t found any place that could pack as much rice as they can onto one piece of roll/nigiri. Environment was great. Service was timely. Food was disappointing. 1) WAY too much rice(2x-3x more) 2) sushi rolls falling apart on dish(poor presentation) 3) everything tasted bland I’ve had a lot of experiences at all-you-can-eat-sushi joints & this is the worst. Going back to Sushi Katsu.

Went there once by myself and the food and service was decent enough. Probably would have given it four stars. However; went there today with my wife and we sat at the sushi bar. The chef proceeded to talk on the phone while he was making our sushi, twice. Both times he didn’t change gloves and went right back to making sushi with the same glove he had just used to talk on the phone with. Completely disgusting and unsanitary. Will not go back, ever.

Oh look another All-You-Can-Eat Sushi spot. But what makes this one so much more special than the next? Well the answer is not much. They have an exact copy of the Sushi Katsu Menu(its practically a copy of their menu with a different restaurant name). But really how much variation is there when it comes to Nigiri and the standard Rolls(cali, spicy tuna, etc.). So we walk in get seated and everything seems to be going just fine. Then the waiter walks up and tells us about their All-You-Can-Eat Sushi. He shows us the standard sushi menu then pulls out a list of the special rolls and tells us that they are included. And to make sure we ask him again if the special rolls on the list are included in the price of the All-You-Can-Eat Sushi and again he tells us it is. Before coming to the restaurant we had seen a post online showing that they had advertised a deal on Westword which was 19.99 for dinner which is usually 23.95. So I asked the waiter if they still accepted the deal. He had no idea it existed so I pulled it up on my phone showed him and he said that I had to have it printed out or they couldn’t accept it. On the ad it says just to «mention» the deal. So I asked him again and he took my phone showed it to the owner and another waitress and came back and made it seem as though they were being generous and accepting the price that they had advertised. What does it matter if I have a piece of paper that says the price or not? I obviously knew about the deal and as a restaurant that just opened you should be happy that people are even walking in. Anyways when they came back to tell us the other waitress came back to explain the menu once again telling us that special rolls actually aren’t part of the All-You-Can-Eat Sushi price. The special rolls are actually an extra charge of $ 3.95. Hmmm thats not actually what the other waiter just told us. Most of the special rolls are california rolls with fish and some sauce. Beware Sushi Lovers. California rolls are extremely cheap its rice, nori, avocado, imitation crab w/mayo, and cucumber. To add a few slices of fish on top of a california roll and throw some sauce on it doesn’t equal a 12 – 14 dollar roll. The waitress went on to tell me how special these rolls are and that they are worth the extra charge because you’ll never find any of their special rolls anywhere else. WRONG! I’ve been a sushi chef for over 8 years and actually the rolls on their list are not special at all. It’s just another copy of all the other All-You-Can-Eat Sushi spots and all the other Sushi spots in town. Don’t be fooled by this new All-You-Can-Eat Sushi place. You can get the same quality for the same price with more options and«Special» rolls somewhere else. LIKERIGHTACROSSTHESTREETATSUSHIKATSU!!! Note to the Owner: Don’t advertise prices if you don’t intend to accept them.

Tried the all you can eat lunch for $ 14. The restaurant is nice, clean, and open(not cramped). The service was very good with lots of waitstaff. Most importantly, the sushi is very good. Unlike Sushi Katsu, the pieces of fish on the nigiri are large and thick. If you go hungry, I’m sure you can get much more than you’re paying for. Also the gyoza were very good. I could see this becoming part of my regular lunch rotation.

I’ve tried the all-you-can-eat sushi fare at a couple different places — Sushi Katsu, Dragon Boat(which apparently doesn’t offer this any longer), and Sushi Train. I think this new restaurant is the best of bunch! The first thing you notice when you walk in is that the décor is really, really nice — you enter through a pagoda with plants all over the place, and they’ve got really cool bamboo accents all over. The next thing you notice is the service — I was greeted by no less than three people on my way to the table! Also, given that this place hasn’t caught on yet, the place was fairly empty and quiet — quite a contrast to the constant craziness over as Katsu! I went for dinner and used a coupon in Westword to get my dinner for $ 19.99. My only complaint was that they don’t include any of their special rolls on the all-you-can-eat menu — you pay extra for those. That being said, the selection of rolls and individual pieces was really good, and they also had a large list of appetizers, salads, and entrees to choose from. I ordered Salmon, Yellow Tail, and Eel sushi plus a spicy tuna roll and an order of Gyoza. The meat portions were VERY generous and it was the freshest sushi I’ve had in a long time! The spicy tuna had a good kick without being overwhelming. They could actually stand to make the rolls a little smaller — At eight large pieces, you’re not going to want to order more than 1 – 2 rolls or you’ll be paying for your leftovers, so if the portions were a little smaller people could get a little more variety. The gyoza was also delicious and fried in a different style than most places — it was more like tempura and pan fried, very light and crunchy. The flavor was a nice mix of veggies and meat, but surprisingly didn’t come with a dipping sauce. Bottom line: large portions, high quality, reasonably priced. Check it out, I’d really like to see this place succeed!

Finally, grand opening. 2nd customer to walk in for lunch. I’m giving it a 4 star in hopes that lots of customers will come in and make this place successfully. being the 1st day, I’m gonna be not so critical on lot of things they have missed. lunch all you can eat menu was similar to other places. plenty of rolls and nigiri sushi to choose from. several appetizers too. 1. nice interior. def 4 stars 2. all you can eat lunch special price. def 4 stars 3. size of the meat(you know what i mean). def 5 stars considering its all you can eat place. not the tiny weenie size like sushi katsu. 4. udong soup: 2 stars at best 5. salmon teriyaki: so so hope everyone stops by and enjoy the fresh sushi! sit at the sushi bar and you will get the extra attention from the chef! as always. here is the note to the owner… don’t serve the food unless its perfect! turn them off once, and you may turn them off permanently! 10/?/13. Its dark inside. Pooie. Didn’t even last a season.
