This is where you should go if you are truly craving great Mexican food. It’s not the trendiest place in town, and I doubt it will ever be recognized as one of Denver’s Best. But you will never convince me that you can find better tasting Mexican food in Denver than here. True. This restaurant fits right in with the hole-in-the-wall restaurants that permeate Colfax. I wish that would change. Aurora and Colfax deserve better curb appeal. But as far as quality food at a reasonable price goes, the Colfax restaurants cannot be beaten. I ordered the barbacoa burrito. Amazing. Great flavor. Little resemblance to the Tex Mex that is most common in Denver. I’m not saying it’s authentic Mexican food because I can’t claim that authority. But it was different in a good way than what I’m used to in Colorado. I also remembered that a friend of mine highly recommended the al pastor taco. After ordering my burrito, I added a single taco to my order. It was worth it. The tacos here are incredible. Fresh flavor. Great seasoning. Overall, some of the best street tacos in Denver. I got my food to go, but I think dining in would be great, as well. It’s a small restaurant, but you would have to be completely self-absorbed not to notice the bright décor of the dining room and the custom-carved and painted Tacos-y-Salsas chairs and tables.

As a native south Texan, I rate their tacos as phenomenal. Best I have found in Denver. And they have a salsa bar!

WTF am I doing out here you might wonder? Heading to Kansas maybe, not exactly, but I’ve been craving for some authentic Mexican food for a long while, and on the bus I saw this place, so I walked back down to get some. WTF am I doing walking around here you might ask? Yo, look at the crazy tall white guy, some passersby were thinking, but it really wasn’t that bad. I think I started a trend. I love the Gordita with AL Pastor, which is basically, a bread pocket filled with marinated meat, tomatoes and lettuce. If so inclined they have a salsa bar with endless choices. This location is more of a serve yourself type joint, which is damn fine with me. I was hoping to go back for seconds, but I was to full. Oh well, if I’m ever heading towards Kansas again, I’ll get some then.

Holy Guacomole! This place is fantastic! There are several locations around town and this was the first one I visited. I ordered a chicken gordita and a chorizo taco. Oh my goodness, the chorizo was to die for. The gordita is kind of like the outside of a corn dog(much bigger) that’s fried. It turns into a hollow pocket and they stuff it with delicious meet and cheese. They have a salsa bar with a variety of fresh salsa and toppings. Everything there is delicious. There aren’t very many tables and it can get packed in there. If possible, I would encourage you to get take-out if you plan on eating at a busy time.

The tacos de asada are soooo good. Tortillas seem like if they are made there. The gorditas are even better! And you can’t beat the price! Cash and credit. Definitely would recommend and will return while I’m here.

Finally a place that has good salsa and at least one VEGETARIAN thing on the menu! I got the gorditas and told the waitress I was vegetarian. She hooked it up a bunch of extra veggies to compensate for the lack of meat and talked to the cook. Such nice and efficient service. The place was packed, she was the only one up front and still managed to keep a smile on her face. Very rare for Colorado! Definitely will be back. The selection of salsa is pretty good too. They have authentically hot options which I love.

I broke my back tooth eating a rock that was in the burrito. I informed them that I found a couple of pebbles in the burrito. The cook came out and collected the rocks and refunded my meal. He stated that rocks end up in the beans every now and then. At first I thought sand had gotten into the meal also, but then after the weird feeling I got from rubbing my tongue on the tooth, I realized it was pieces of my tooth. I asked them to pay and the manager /owner never called me once! I hate writing bad reviews but I wanted to warn people reading this. If you eat here please chew cautiously! They did refund my meal which was great but never returned any of my phone calls when I wanted to have them pay for my dental repair. If proof is needed I can upload my dental bill just to make my point. If the owner ever wants to call or meet me to discuss this matter any further I will be more then happy. The owner is difficult to get in touch with and his employees seem to never know when he is going to show up to the store. I refuse to waste anymore of my time driving back and forth to Tacos Y salsa. I did that twice and both times the employees said the owner was not available and he was in Mexico. I’m just glad I didn’t chip my front tooth. I would hate to be reminded of that place every time I look into the mirror.

You really cant get better Mexican food than this! I’m crazy picky about the good stuff and I can’t sing higher praises for Tacos y Salsas… not matter which one you go to, it’s awesome! This location is pretty small but it still has all the style of a vibrant restaurant in Mexico. The colors and the music and the delicious smells are all what make this place so great. I don’t think I would ever turn down the opportunity to have some of the best tacos in town. Love me the Al Pastor tacos with some pineapple added on top. Seriously, these bad boys are insane good! The best thing to do is get a variety of tacos(they’re under $ 2 a piece) and try all the different meats. They’re all delicious but I say just pick your favorite. During the lunch rush this place might seem crazy packed but that’s because the food is awesome and the space is small. Get in while the gettin’ is good. Love it.

These are true Mexican tacos. I enjoyed the quick service. Our orders we’re taken and our food was delivered quickly. I had the shredded pork, barbacoa and chicken. The tacos we’re full of meat with lettuce and tomato on the side. The choice of bottled sodas is great. The choice of salsas was made me happy. I used a lot of combinations because I couldn’t choose just one. Beware of that roasted pepper it is hot! The price is great and has me going back for more.

OMG I finally found real Mexican food in Denver?! Salsa bar has so many salsas its hard to choose– and the 3 I tried were very good. I ordered 3 tacos: Carne Asada, El Pastor, and Chicken. Yum, yum, and yum. They come out full and plain on a corn tortilla; add lettuce, lime, and SALSA to your liking. The best part? The price! $ 1.85/taco. Service: fast! Food: Good portions, tasty food! Restaurant: Clean, tiny! If you want a seat, your timing has to be right. Return?: ASAP

I am very, very picky about my Mexican food. Most of what I have tried in other establishments does not taste authentic at all. At last, I found a place that tastes like the real deal. The things that turn people off about this place usually stem from the ‘atmosphere.’ To them it looks small, hot, and dirty. It’s a place to step out of the every day and go someplace that feels far away. I don’t see the negative at all, but instead see a place that feels like a real Mexican restaurant. They carry bottled imported Coca-colas made with sugar rather than high fructose corn syrup. They also have desserts available from a local bakery such as flan and tres leches cake. They aren’t as good as the food they prepare themselves, but will satisfy a craving in a pinch. And even though they have a small array of choices, if you don’t come here for the tacos, you are doing it wrong! They have every type of taco meat imaginable and about six fresh made salsas plus pico and fresh made tortillas.(I recommend the carnitas.) The taco quality and variety of excellent salsas are the stars here… there’s a reason why it’s «Tacos y Salsas»!

This small joint on Colfax has a variety of Mexican entrees on their menu. In all honesty I’ve only tried their tacos. My favorite are Asada and Tripas, they cook the meat just how you want it. This place gets somewhat crowded on the weekends so we always order to go, doesn’t take away from the experience because the tacos are great! The staff stays busy but are friendly when you walk in the door.

Any place that I has a line out the door and I have to have someone translate to the lady taking my order is most likely really good. Despite the fact that they were really busy, my two tacos I ordered were ready in 5 minutes. I got the marinated pork and chicken. I also got three salsas. Two of them were red and one was green. They also had sautéed Serrano peppers with salt. The tacos were delicious, especially with the salsas. The serranos were hot and flavorful. I would give this place five stars but the it’s kind of small and everyone waiting was kind of stepping on each other. Can’t wait to go back.

This place is an adventure for the foodies, came upon this place because my fellow Unilocalers recommended it. I ordered the lengua tacos, it was very flavorful and tender. I experimented with all the salsas that they had displayed there, I did not have a favorite. The salsas were meh, but the roasted serrano chili that they offer is wonderful! For a newbie like me, the menu was quite confusing, but I figured it out. If you want authentic tacos, this is your place to go.

Yummm! Quality. Fast and cheap! Walked in and out within 10mins for a carne asada plate and tasty lengua, al pastor, and adovada tacos — every single thing was amazing. The tacos come out with just meat and a side of lettuce. A side bar had all different kinds of toppings, different salsas, chopped cilantro and onions and roasted serrano peppers to add to your liking. While we filled up on sides, we watched a lady make our tortillas from scratch, wrapping each ball, flattening it and frying it made to order. The cook had it down to a science, at one point he reached for salt behind him with one hand, turned around and grabbed meat with another hand while simultaneously reaching backwards to season things without looking — whoa. Fun to watch, fun to eat! With a large horchata, our order came to $ 16. This is my kind of place.

This Tiny hole in the wall gem Was Fantastic! Some of the best street tacos I have had in a long time. Now I say Street tacos but these things are piled on with meat of your choice. They are served to you with just the meat but they have a small bar where you can load it with salsas and veggies. It is a small place and are a bit packed in with as much seating as they could fit, but once you get your food you could care less. Very clean and colorful environment! Yes it is far down the older part of Colfax but it is worth stopping by!

Simple menu but delicious! Tortas are amazing. We had barbacoa and marinated chicken. Perfect crunch and fresh lettuce and tomato on top! The Gordita was also great. They also have a salsa bar, which was pretty good. Mostly medium to spicy though so not for the intolerant. Also includes cilantro and diced onions, as well as really fresh limes. To enjoy the salsa bar even more, the salsa chips are worth the $ 1.67. Homemade fried chips! This place is sit down or counter. Friendly service. Good music and decorations as well. Most of all, extremely cheap.
