Do you hate pesky follow-up calls from your doctor? Does it annoy you when someone calls you to discuss test results? Does caring, personalized care make you uncomfortable? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then UCH is the place for you! You’ll be a cog in a huge, lumbering organization where you’ll get to wrestle your health care to the ground each and every time. This place is a healthcare factory and it’ll be evident during every interaction you’ll have. It’s impersonal, you’ll need to initiate all follow-up calls or visits, and don’t be surprised when you find out your doctor goes AWOL immediately after a procedure and you’re left with no one to contact.

Have had no need for emergency treatment yet (knock on wood) but the outpatient center here is wonderful. The giant sprawling complex has everything from a cancer institute to a midwifery clinic to an ophthalmologist. I have never had to wait past my appointment time in the waiting room – in fact, I’m usually called in early. (Waits in the patient room are always par for the course, though, unfortunately). And it’s a research hospital which is by far the best type of medical treatment one can seek. Two (or three or ten) heads are better than one when it comes to your health.
Valet parking, free coffee, and electronic correspondence and prescription slips are nice touches, too.
