Great dive bar. The jalapeño poppers were the best I ever had. Chef came out to say hello. Great service. Definitely will go back for more food. Loved it.

Not a bad little dive bar. Drinks might have been a little higher than I thought for this kind of place. I had the chorizo and shrimp app, it was ok.

Food was absolutely perfect. Wish I could’ve taken pictures of the masterpieces, Ralph, cooked for us! Honey chipotle wings were cooked to perfection! We all shared spicy shrimp queso and sausage stuffed mushrooms! Seriously such a delicious menu! The bartender poured generous and the $ 1.50 Jell-O shots with whip cream were pretty damn tasty! Do yourself a favor and check out this cool little place!

I think they should put a diving board out front. And stop watering down their drinks. Drink beer and you’ll have a great time!

Honestly, not a nice bar to normal standards. However, it is a great dive bar to hit up with a group of friends. Super cheap drinks, decent(inexpensive) food and A decent level of cleanliness. Not bad for part of colfax its on. If your trying to find somewhere near anshutz to hit up after an exam, definitely give it a chance.

Came in for an happy hour beverage and was rudely greeted by a couple of patrons sitting at the bar. I won’t be back!

Yes, the Zephyr Lounge is definitely one of the most«dive-iest» places I’ve ever visited. It is definitely everything you could expect from a dive bar; some strange people inside, cheap drinks, and a dated look. I give The Zephyr 3 stars because the server we had was amazing. She was serving the whole bar by herself and was always friendly and helpful(impressive for her, but only one server on a Saturday night? Maybe not the best idea because she was terribly busy). I’m also giving three stars because the food was pretty good. Hello deep fried burger and green chili fries! The chef was also super nice and he did accept our card(and our friends cards) because we were told to just ask. On the negative side, their beer selection is nothing special. Get ready to choose from a list that only has the cheapest beers around. And get ready to pay $ 7 for a quality shot. We went with well whiskey and well vodka shots and they were hard to swallow so that $ 7 might be worth it. Overall, this place is good, but not great.

Great DIVE bar to grab a drink at. $ 4 pitchers during happy hour. They have this deep fried cheeseburger — I didn’t have one — but saw it and it looked good… to try, maybe once, haha. I ate the french dip and the sandwich was okay, but the au jus was terrible! Also, for bar food, it took WAY too long for the food to come out. LIKE forever… All in all, I will definitely come back, though probably not eat!

The first couple of times I went here, I really liked it. Yes it’s a dive, but the barkeep(Joline) was great and the patrons a hoot. On a subsequent visit, the barkeep was terrible. Slow, forgetful, unfriendly. So based on the combined experiences, I’d give it a 3. Then tonight I went and was denied a happy hour round because I didn’t order in time. The thing was, it was still 10 to the hour, but Zephyr’s bar clock is 10 minutes fast… and they know it. Even then, I had been waiting for a long time while the bartender served lots of new people. The owner — Myron — was right there and said they couldn’t honor my happy hour order because«they can’t serve everyone and it gets confusing.» He said it didn’t matter that the clock was wrong or that I had been trying to order for some time. «We can’t get to everyone.» Which is bullshit. He was standing in front of me most of that time and never offered any service. Both he and the bartender knew I had been trying to order for some time, so again that’s bullshit. I hate to sound nitpicky over a few dollars in drink prices, but I’m a man of principals and it’s simply wrong to apply arbitrary rules when it comes to customer service. If you have customers who were doing their part and you can’t keep up, don’t deny them the service they deserve. Not sure if I’ll be back.

The Service is something to be desired. IT takes forever to get a server. Probably best just grabbing a seat and going to the bar. Friendly patrons and the bartender is awesome though.

Wow. This place gives the word«dive bar» a deeper meaning. I love the art deco outside of this bar. I hope it never changes, the inside however, is a different story. It felt small and dirty and old. The condition of the clientele, hygiene-wise, sort of made me pledge to never eat here. Which I guess is an odd way to judge the food, but if the bathrooms and general feel is dirty, I do not trust the kitchen. I think they could use a good old fashioned remodel inside, and this place could really be more successful.

Not a fan. Truly wanted to be! I love dives. But after coming here, I just was not impressed with the service nor the prices on drinks. I went to the Zephyr with my gentleman Memorial Day Weekend of 2013(May 2013) with this bad experience. I looked it up on our bank account. I was contacted by the owner in February 2014. The bar does raise drink prices by a dollar on Sunday nights for entertainment. That still doesn’t account for the lack of service we received. I do want to call out why it was more expensive. Now since I last posted in May of 2013 I edited the pricing info to be accurate to the bar now, as that is what is fair to them. However, I stand by the 2 stars, as I know we were not treated well that night. We were not contacted about it until this year. I appreciate the owner taking steps to right this now. I would say that I am not the only one complaining about service here as well. Thank you for letting me know your pricing. Until the service improves you will not have solid customer loyalty. I wish you good luck and hope it was an anomaly.

Over the years I’ve occasionally gone to the Zephyr for it’s cheap drinks and good bands on weekends. Recently I was very happy to find that they have a chef and are open for lunch and dinner, with varied, well prepared and extremely reasonable food. The chef has a Lebanese background and some of the food reflects this with adventurous seasoning. Our apps came with a great assortment of dipping sauces. Much of the menu is of the comfort food variety and all the dishes the four of us had were very carefully prepared. I usually don’t order chicken as it’s too often dry and overcooked, but not here. Great value for food – and they still have the cheap drinks!

I’ll admit. I love the Zephyr. Working in AMC I tend to venture over there a lot. Truly, what isn’t there to love? The $ 2 for 2 PBRs? The undrinkable level of alcohol in their mixed drinks? The at times, wonderful, at times horrifying but always weird artwork? The at times, wonderful, at times horrifying but always weird regulars(I’m one of them — the server knows my order before she comes over)? For me, the icing on the cake is the perpetual wonder at how on earth the song currently playing could be picked on a juke box by the same person who picked the previous song(eclectic doesn’t even begin to describe the Zephyr’s musical repertoire). If you’re still not convinced? They have their own theme song on the website. Best train in Aurora indeed!

OK, think of the Zephyr as Denver’s up and coming art bar. A mural by Gary Sweeney(who did the America Why I Love Her mural at DIA) greets you as you come in the front door. If it’s not happy hour when you get there just stick around a bit. It’s amost always happy hour at the Zeph. Yes theres a lot of East Colfax flavor… but if you wanted bland you’d hang out at Elways. We watched some of the super bowl there and had a lot of fun. They have the best velvet painting collection in Denver.

Let me start off by saying that I love dives. Cheesy décor, ridiculous alcoholics, and staff that are… um… museum quality? Love it! Usually. Me and some friends went to see a band we really dig(«What the hell are the Hillbilly Hellcats doing playing a joint like this?!»). At first we were cool with it. We were served by our cocktail waitress pretty quickly, and although she had one of the funniest lines I’ve heard in a while(when one of their unsavory patrons yelled«You all smell like cheese!» then ran out the door, she said something like«Now that’s an alligator mouth on a squirrel body, that’s what that is.») the service progressively got worse. But the topping was at about five to one as the band started their third set. We got hungry and I asked if the pizza was any good and if they are still serving. They said yes and yes. So I ordered the cheese pizza. Almost a full half hour later I asked if the pizza was coming. «On the way!» she said. Another 20 minutes later, and just as they’re about to kick everyone out, my pizza arrived, looking like melted wax over a wood-chip. I was still hungry, but asked for a discount as I couldn’t eat it there anymore because she forgot to place the order with the kitchen(and lied about it). She said she couldn’t but she could make it to go. I was NOT happy, but needed to eat, so I agreed. After I paid, the to go pizza came out in a teeny container. I opened it and they were stacked on top of each other. Let me clarify… CHEESE pizza slices stacked on top of each other! CHEESE! I took two bites. Now I wasn’t expecting the Edgewater Inn… Hell, I wasn’t even expecting Dominos. But when they tell you your $ 8 pizza is good, you expect edible. I threw it out. A perspective… for the same price you can get a delicious handmade pizza at the Horseshoe. It made a two-three star dive a one star dive with a bullet. Avoid at all costs, service like that doesn’t deserve a dime of your hard earned money. Wouldn’t go back to see the Rolling Stones play there. Although in retrospect, our waitress might have been Keith Richards.

The Zephyr is cheaper than Panama, and I speak from experience. Here is a place that has three, count ‘em, three happy hours … every day, with two-for-one PBRs for $ 2 a pair. From 7 – 9 am you get the breakfast of champions happy hour, your regular end-of-work-day happy hour, and cap the night off with a final happy hour around midnight. The locals are REALLY local, and an assorted bunch of folks. After 60 years on Colfax, this place knows what it’s doing. … I don’t know what it’s doing, but IT knows what it’s doing. The jukebox is awesome; bands play here regularly so the jukebox is hooked into a nice sound system. Billy Jean played twice in a row while we were there; this was a good sign. The man walking by on his way to the bathroom looked like he stepped out of an 80’s MJ video; this was a better sign. The Zephy is also a motel, just talk to the bartender about getting a room if you don’t want to make the drive back home along the glorious Colfax Avenue. The food is not so great. My buddy got sick afterwards and we think it was the corndog, so watch out! … more on Panama some other time.
