I really couldn’t decide whether to rate this a 3 or a 4. I lived here between 2006 and 2009 and it’s the best place I lived in Hyde Park(yes, I have lived in some crapshacks). It’s a small complex of 1-bedrooms and efficiencies. Pros: The 1-bedroom was roomy with TONS of closet space, and it had a two-floor layout with a porch downstairs and a balcony upstairs. It was cheap for the neighborhood. The maintenance was pretty good. Got along with the neighbors. Cons: The stove was way old, I’m pretty sure given the color that it was from the 70s. The AC was very inefficient even though they changed the filter every month. No ceiling light or fan in the living room. At one point there was a rat problem(in the walls) but they did take care of it. The management was weird. I had no problem with Barbara Durr/Ables(she’s changed her name) AKA Capital Area Property Management until we decided to move out. She and her people became really hard to deal with toward the end, even though we had never given them a problem before. They rudely refused to do a move-out walkthrough and gave us attitude about even asking, which I thought was uncalled for, especially since their own lease suggests doing so. They were asses while showing our apartment, badmouthing us to the prospective tenant within our earshot. Lots of other move-out annoyances that left me with a bad taste in my mouth. So while I liked the apartment I wouldn’t rent from them again because I’ve seen their true colors now.
