What a great night! Stephan our bartender was outstanding! He was very friendly and incredibly knowledgable about tequila. He was happy to let us sample different things and try to pair our tastes with a like-tequila. We will definitely be back!

My boyfriend and I came in here just to grab a drink and kill some time before our show started. The atmosphere is very cozy and the costumer service is outstanding. Very welcoming and on top of there game.

Love this bar! Came in around 10 pm on a Friday night. Stephanie was our bartender and she was fantastic! The drinks she made us were excellent, and you can tell she really cares about her customers. Will definitely be back!

This is a small bar with a nice friendly staff. Margaritas hit the spot on that day where I felt that i was melting outside and needed a frosty alcoholic beverage. They have a taco truck outside that serves three days a week but unfortunately not on the day that I was there. Margaritas give me munchies so i wish they offered some salty treats at the bar. They had a decent selection of tequilas and a few tv’s for entertainment. Music was good and their velvet room is a cool contrast to the wooden bar area.

Stopped in for National Tequila day with a group of about 7 friends. Let me tell you, this bar was BUSY. First off 508 is TINY. There is more seating outside than there is inside and the two bar tenders were a bit overwhelmed so they were coming across kinda short which is understandable but the lady tender was a straight up mean little thing. It’s not your customers fault you guys don’t have glasses, juice, and garnishes. Yell at your bar backs, not the people tipping you. Moving on, they have a huge selection of tequila because you know it’s a tequila bar. The guy bar tender is really creative with his drinks and had me try something he whipped up. Twas delish. We moseyed over to the restaurant next door and had this server, Pepper, and she was so cool! Recommended a bunch of foods, accommodated the herbivores in the group, and accommodated our carnivores too. It was all reasonably priced I think I made out with a drink and appetizer for $ 14? Give it a try it’s a nice hangout and date spot.

A cool, chill bar along 8th and Red River. There’s lots of areas to hang out at, including an expansive patio to chill out at. They serve cold beers, and lots of tequilas. The inside bar is the best place to get a drink, and belly up to the bar. The Lone Star tall boys are serves super cold, and the atmosphere is relaxed. Be sure to check out the washers game out on the east side of the bar. Parking is nearly impossible around here, but so is most of the Sixth Street area.

The bartender at this place is a really great guy. He gave some good suggestions on where to go and makes really tasty drinks. This is the only bar that I’ve ever been to that has had my favorite beer: Immortal Beloved by Los Muertos Brewing. So, this place definitely gets 5 stars from me. The space is quaint inside with some awesome décor one wouldn’t expect from a bar(think, velvet wallpaper and porcelain hands hanging from the ceiling). There’s also outdoor seating for those willing to brave the Austin heat… but they do have misting fans. If you’re in the area, this place is a must!

I love this place, NOT. I have a strained relationship with it after the pretty good time we had here today. To set the scene, imagine a young couple tired after a long day of work looking for a nice quiet place to drink away our sorrows and hide away. This young couple, was not us. Now, if you were that couple, all the more power to you — this place is probably excellent for that kind of crowd. We’re the kind that like to get rowdy and throw our napkins and other pedestrian things we can grab at one another during dinner. This place was a good precursor for it, but i’d be wary of actually starting any fires here. The people are too polite and I’d feel bad. We had a few of the house margs(they were $ 5 during happy hour) and my date(who can never get the cheap thing like a true jewish american princess) got an amaretto sour. The margaritas were heavenly and the amaretto sour was fruitastic. The only thing that this place could really use is a bit more prompt service /better seating. 4⁄5 Stars

What a lovely evening! The bar was fairly empty on a Tuesday night and we struck up a conversation with the bartender. Had a great time. We had a couple beers and some really good queso. The bar used to actually be the owner’s home until they opened Pelon’s next door and then turned the home into a bar some time later. Perfect, chill atmosphere. I will definitely be back. Good people!

This is a superb hole in the wall hangout with a lot of great spots to sit outside and watch all the crazy that is downtown nigh life unfold. The drinks are great the patio games are entertaining but my favorite thing about the place is the laid back décor. This place isn’t trying to be anything but casual fun… and I thank them for that.

I’m Ok with spending some time and $ at this whimsical yet historic tequila shack. You can find everything your libated mind could want for, secluded dar rooms tucked out of the way, complete with mirrored walls and comfy sofa, giant JENGA and other simple human games, decent soundtrack to back it all up and ample patio spaces. I’d like to see some consistency in the volume of the outdoor speakers, every couple minutes the volume would jump to a level that produced cringe inducing distortion and confusion(to be fair I’m easily confused). I don’t know if it was a technical problem of somebody kept bumping the knob… I don’t mind getting twisted, just be careful about twisting my knobs…

TRYIT, TRYIT, TRYIT!!! This little hidden gem has it all… amazing tequila selection, knowledgable staff, quaint patio, clean bathrooms, great music and the local neighborhood feel that we all look for when we go out! This will be my new go to place! It’s not about only having a great tequila selection but, having the staff who is knowledgable and can mix the right tequila with the right ingredients and they receive a gold star for that! The price was also really reasonable for the caliber of tequila they have! I have noticed that a lot of tequila bars tend to up the price because tequila bar is in their name however, this one still retains the non-snobish feel! I think this would make a great date night place or a place to take a small group to hear live music on the patio but, still be able to hear each other talk!

Meh. Drinks were ok, but the bartenders sure seemed busy for the amount of people there(few). The manager decided to close at midnight so he could«go home early», which is good for my liver, bad for fun. But mad props to DJ Dolomike for his spins that night.

We chilled here before a concert at Stub’s since its right across the street and you can kinda gauge the crowds at Stub’s to see when you need to actually go over. A little pricey for drinks, but they were really good and they know their tequila… as they should. I really like the chilli-lime salt on my margaritas-delish. No frozen margaritas here, its all on the rocks, they takes their drinks seriously!

We were lucky enough to stumble over to 508 after a brunch at Pelons. Turns out the drink menu is the same at both. So, other than point out that 508 has a super cool funky interior(velvet wall paper and such) and a taco truck onsite, the same review applies(yup, I’m that lazy): «Amazing drinks! I highly recommend setting aside an afternoon to sit out on the dog-friendly porch(with it’s awesome giant trees) or inside(a cute old house) and trying several. They have maybe 5 variations of margaritas, and then some crafty cocktails. Just know you will have to go back, as they pour a strong one and you may only get through two before having to start again another day, especially if you have the Cuernos Lagos(aka „Longhorn“). I think the Pepino is my favorite(tequila, cucumber vodka, citronage, homemade sweet and sour) or the Pelons Fresca(tequila, st. germain, mint, fresh lime juice, soda). I tried some others but these are standouts(and my memory fades after a few).» and then… «I’d rrather get my carbs from a Revolucion: peach vodka, tequila, grand marnier, tabasco, agave nectar and lime, yum» Go there. Drink. Enjoy.

With intentions of grabbing a spicy margarita at Pelons, I found myself intrigued by the spacious patio and bar next door. This is a converted house similar to a Rainey street bar but in the middle of Red River next to the old Jamie’s Village. The patio is shaded by a huge old oak tree and has cool lighting. The drink menu consists of margaritas, cocktails, beers, wine. Most intriguing was the margarita menu. I tried the spicy margarita with patron silver and citronage, fresh lime juice, grapefruit and muddled jalapenos with chili salt on the rim. It was pretty good but the spice was mild. I also had the house made sangria with Spanish red wine, brandy, orange liquor infused with fruit served on ice. The sangria was not too sweet and the perfect patio weather drink. I had a sip of the Cuernos Largos which is their strongest drink with a 2 drink max. The Cuernos was no joke, it was tasty, strooong and in true Austin fashion it was«burnt» orange. Some of the other drinks that looked enticing was the Texas sipper with St Germaine and Tito’s vodka, the skinny mojito and the bloody Mary with black pepper infused vodka and zing zang. The drink menus are the same as Pelon’s but they do not serve food at 508. However there is a food trailer called Zorro’s serving up mini tacos on site. Their happy hour is Monday through Friday from 3pm-6pm and consists of $ 3 wells, $ 4 wine, $ 5 sangria/house margaritas.
