ABC Vacuum Warehouse

ABC has been my go-​to for vacuums for years. Bought a Sebo Felix based on their recommendation, it suits us perfectly (hardwoods with area rugs). Recently bought a refurbished upright for a fraction of new. Just today I brought in a back-​pack vacuum to see if they had bags for it. Done and done!
I have not had any repairs there, I’m a mechanical engineer so I do my own. One thing is for sure though, they have a lot of busted Dysons in there, 2 to 1 more than any other. Says something about Dysons, I think.
Highly recommended, I always go to ABC first, they haven’t let me down yet.

These guys are so good at customer service. You will walk in and think their little shop is not much to look at, but they are good at what they do. When I got my Hoover Wind Tunnel back, the suction was great, and they even saved the items that had gotten caught in the tubing and had them for me in a baggie. (Yes, I’ll be talking with my teenage daughter about how she vacuums her room since there were two of her headbands and a pencil in the baggie.) They hardly charge anything for their good work. Two thumbs up for a home town business that humbly does what they say they will.

These guys were great! My Dyson was broken in a couple places, and they replaced the main top piece while I waited. All working again and now I have a handle to grab on to. Thanks ABC! And it only cost me $ 15.

Beware of the «3 year warranty» on their eBay listings. I ordered a vacuum from them and it claimed it had a 6 month Dyson warranty and like 2.5 years of warranty through ABC Vacuum warehouse. They never returned my call or email. I don’t like companies that lie so I will be reporting them to the FTC.

I’ve been in contact with the company since my initial review and we were able to come to an agreement. I appreciate how willing they were to fix the issue.

I took my vacuum in for repair and was told that it would probably take five to six business days to fix, and that they would call me when they knew what the problem was. However, it ended up being nearly three weeks before they were able to even diagnose the problem. Apparently they were extremely backed up, but I had not been told that when I dropped off the vacuum. We also experienced a lack of communication among the staff there, which resulted in having to explain what was wrong with the vacuum on at least three separate occasions. Once ABC diagnosed the problem, they told me to order the needed part and bring it to the store. Once they had the part, the repair was completed within a few hours. The price for labor was reasonable, and the vacuum now works fine. However, had I known it would take so long, I would have gone somewhere else.

Made another visit here today to buy a new Sebo Felix vacuum. Mechanical works of art, love ‘em. Nothing was wrong with my first Sebo — it’s just that my ex wife took it with her when she left.
Chatted briefly with Brian before getting the vacuum. Nice folks, easy to work with. Can you believe the Sebo was cheaper here than on Amazon? Believe it.

I don’t think I’m revealing any important man-​secrets here, but guys have a «fix-​it» gene that essentially makes it difficult to do the obvious, like ask for directions or admit we don’t know what we’re doing. I’m not even talking about major issues like relationships, but stuff like when your car won’t start we’ll open the hood and ponder very seriously, before you call Triple-​A.
So when I noticed the only joint purchase I was awarded custody of — a screaming yellow colored Eureka — wasn’t quite sucking up carpet goo or chasing away the cats like it used to, I downloaded the manual online, disassembled & thoroughly cleaned each component, and replaced the two appendix items listed as «parts you’ll need to replace» — the belt and a weird filter cup inside the wind tunnel thingy. The damn thing looks & works like it’s brand new now.
The point is ABC Vacuum has been in Austin a zillion years, they sell and service a hundred different vacuum cleaners, but they also carried those two specific parts I needed for my apparently discontinued screaming yellow colored Eureka. And it cost me a total of $ 24.86. It’s hard not to be a fan of that scenario, especially when I didn’t give the process much thought — it was all pretty instinctive.

I dropped my Dyson off for a cleaning. I picked it up about a week later. My Dyson works so much better now. I wish I would have done this sooner. The price was very reasonable. Thx!

ABC Vacuum was referred to me more than a few times! I am thrilled that I shopped there for my new machine! They gave me product knowledge that helped me decide to buy a new version of my old machine, plus… I bought a vacuum for my daughter and son in law! The manager, Sandy was kind and patient with all of my questions. The repair/​sales guy was as helpful and kind. Customer service is the best!

Had some trouble getting a refund check for my broken vacuum. but it did finally arrive a few months later than promised.

My two-​year-​old Dyson’s motor broke yesterday so I called Dyson to find out there’s one place in town that honors their warranty. ABC Vacuume Warehouse had my vacuum back to a lean mean cleaning machine in less than 24 hours. The people there were professional, friendly and knowledgeable. I hope I don’t need their services again but if I do — I’m sure glad I know where to find them.

I have had such mixed experiences here! And I’m a little astounded at how many bites at the apple I’ve had in such a short span of time. I must vacuum more than I like to admit… or, alternately, I’m a really terrible vacuumer and passive aggressively break it on a regular basis.
Each visit below occurred between August and November 2014.
The first time I went in, I needed a super minor repair. The bill was an astounding (and thrilling) three dollars and 25 cents. I was thrilled and it made me feel that they would be fair when issues with my vacuum cleaner came up. And it made me want to come back again and again. I was a first time customer, and it established credibility.
The next time I went in, I’m pretty sure I was overcharged for the filters I needed. One employee thought one price, and another employee thought that was too little, so they charge me the higher price and it ended up being about $ 40. So it goes. How my supposed to know how much a vacuum cleaner filters cost? I paid it, and left feeling meh.
The next time I went in, it was because my vacuum cleaner stopped working mid vacuuming. A very nice employer (guy) plugged it in and it worked, he told me that it had over heated and had automatically turned off as a safety feature. In other words, there was nothing wrong with my vacuum and sent me on my way free of charge.
On my final visit, I went in to have the belt replaced. An employee took my vacuum to the back and replaced the belt and brought it back around to the front. There was no ticket written up, so another employee took over. She was of the opinion that he had put the belt in incorrectly (which in itself did not inspire confidence-​I almost walked out with a gimp belt and there are probably better ways to rectify this situation without making customers think that you’re all incompetent and/​or trying to sell each other out). She said that there would be a $ 20 service fee in addition to the price of the belt because they were going to clean the brush roller too. Mind you, this servicing had not yet been done but I didn’t feel like I was in a position to stop her. So she stands there and halfheartedly uses another big vacuum head to suck some stuff out of the bottom of my vacuum. So, with the replacement of a three dollar belt, I walked out of there with a $ 25 charge.
I can fully understand their need to turn a profit but it needs to bear relation to the services provided. On my first visit, I probably should’ve been charged a bit more. On subsequent visits, I did not like being present while the person watching the books rounded up to an absurd degree. If you’re going to charge a $ 20 fee for a five-​minute $ 3 repair, the vacuum should look pretty good afterwards, at least in the affected area.
I won’t be coming back. Back to the drawing board. I may send my husband into get parts and bags from time to time a la carte, but I’d rather have consistency and fairness and my expectations nice and managed so that I don’t walk out of there again wondering what exactly happened and why I have a vague feeling that I got hosed.

I ordered something from this business through ebay. Today I spoke with Collin about a problem and he was very friendly and helpful. I will order from this business the next time I need something they carry.

My Dyson brush bar stopped spinning. I tried the prescribed remedies including the ‘reset’ button. Didn’t help. Dyson says ABC is the only authorized repair shop in Austin. Brought it there.
After a couple days, got the call and was told it was working fine. No problem found. At my request they kept it a couple more days and ran it each day. Still no problem found. Magic. The good kind.
Also…no charge. Great business. Will definitely see them again. Recommended.

Said they worked on rumbas, when I drove all the way down there they told me that it’s not. Thanks for the waste of time.

I have done business with these folks the past 20 years. They don’t see me much as I haven’t had any problems with the vacums I bought from them. I had an orack and traded it in on a SEBO which I love love. Also bought a great canaster vacum for my cars. All have been great products. My kids just bought me a roomba for mothers day and I called them to be sure they could service it as I will not deal with any vacum dealer except them.
They know their busines and the right vacum for you.

After our 20something year old Oreck started smoking when we used it this week, we figured it was time for a brand spankin’ new vacuum.
I like to be thrifty (or at least pretend I am) and try to get the best possible deal, and try my hardest not to be ripped off by big chains. My dilemma began when I wanted a Dyson— because those don’t run cheap! I compared many places that sold them new and hadn’t considered a refurbished one since Dyson only has a six month warranty on refurbs vs. a 5 year warranty on new ones.
Right before I was going to go out to Costco to sink some dough on a compact version of an upright Dyson, I decided to check eBay to see what they could offer and low and behold there were much lower priced Dysons being sold from Austin on there. They were full sized upright refurbs, but they had me at the «3 year warranty» being offered: 6 months from Dyson, and 2.5 years from ABC Vacuums— all parts and labor included. Bingo!
We went to the showroom and we were greeted by Brian who took plenty of time with us and showed us all about the different models of refurb’d Dyson’s they had to offer. (He said that if its a new Dyson and the box even gets damaged it goes back to Dyson and has to be sold as a refurb. All the parts of a refurbished machine look — and are— brand new.) We decided on one and he even assembled it for us, told us all about each part and how to open it up, clean it out, etc. and then let us test drive it.
To get a cheaper ‘brand new’ product from a local place with great customer service makes my local-​loving heart sing! (And thus write a Unilocal review.) Three cheers for ABC Vacuum Warehouse!

I have a Dyson DC28, it stopped working despite troubleshooting efforts. I contacted Dyson customer service who informed me they placed a work order with ABC Vacuum. I brought my vacuum into ABC and was helped by Sandy. She was very friendly and helpful. My vacuum was fully fixed and ready for pick up 3 business days later. Got the vacuum home and it worked great, just as when new. I am happy with my customer service and know they will handle my vacuum great for any future repairs. The storefront isn’t some shiny new place but they are effective and that is what I would judge a company that provides such service by.

I am updating my review to show that sometimes persistence and explaining WHY a problem with a company is a problem can pay off.
After 3 weeks, several in-​depth complaints lodged with the store manager, I did receive a call to say the steamer was ready. My issues are fully logged in my original complaint here.
What I WILL say is that there’s been a definite improvement in the store appearance — it’s MUCH much cleaner than the previous visits I’ve had there. In speaking with the office manager Sandy, I have come to find a little information that at least backs up as to why there was such a problem with my servicing. It doesn’t necessarily «excuse» it, but I will tell you here that:
–I feel that my issues was taken directly to heart
–I feel that I was truly listened to
–I feel that the advice I gave to check out what people have written here was taken
–I feel that my finished product is fantastic
–I feel that they are truly sorry for the way it was handled.
When my steamer was brought out I was blown away — it looked like a brand new machine! Got it home and it worked like a charm, pretty much as it did «out of the box».
While the steps that were taken to get to this spot were not the most pleasant and very frustrating, i DO believe that the experience will serve as a growing one for the new manager of the place and I do see improvements being made, and a heartfelt apology was received for my frustration and bad experience.
I’ll go back again to see if those changes «stick»; it’d be great to see it doing the same upward trend in a year.
