I moved from CT and had a long standing relationship with my dentist up north. So when I moved to Austin, I really wanted to find dentist that could offer suitable care. Because of my insurance and the proximity of Dr. Samani, I picked her. Im glad I did. The staff is cordial, friendly and thorough. I knew since I missed my six month check up I wouldnt get the glowing thumbs up I usually receive. But now that my teeth are back on track I will be sure to return. Dr. Samani is approachable, friendly and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend.

Apparently giving zero stars is not an option, so I’ll give this business one. This dentist is one that I would avoid AT ALL COST. First of all, I had three fillings done by Dr. Samani 3 weeks ago and I am still in immense pain every time I chew. I went back two weeks ago to adjust said fillings and she assured me that we fixed the problem and my pain would subside in about two days… This didn’t happen, and after paying her an arm and a leg for those fillings, I haven’t had the cash to go to another dentist to fix the problem. I’ll be damned if I ever set foot in her office again. I have had numerous fillings in my life, and none of them hurt more than a day after. On top of the painful and expensive procedure, Dr. Samani has a personality like stale bread. Not someone you want staring into your mouth for an hour. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

We are still very happy with Dr. Samani and her staff. We highly recommend Magena who does a thorough job of teeth cleanings and is great with children. The office staff does a great job of working with insurance and they always call to remind us of appointments.

I really am surprised by the few stars for Dr. Samani and her team. I have been nothing but happy with her since we made the change to her practice several years ago. I took a chance and picked her at random because of her location and because the dentist that had been recommended to me previously had done such a poor and expensive job I was desperate to find anyone else. In fact, she was able to correct work that was done poorly by that dentist as well as doing my second crown and mouthguard. The office staff have always been friendly to me, and though I’ve been coming here for years I’ve only ever had to wait once (for ½ an hour total while I could hear her next door with an emergency visit where a child had broken a tooth, and both she and her staff checked on me regularly in that time and apologized for the inconvenience of the wait). Usually even if I get there a few minutes early to my appointment they can already see me right away.
I had a real problem with previous dentists being reluctant to tell me what the price for upcoming procedures would be (even when I point blank asked them and explained that money is a concern-​seriously, when is it not for dentistry work? That’s not cheap stuff), or tacking on things after the fact that they knew would be likely. (Like the build-​up for my crown, not a cheap or unusual addition). I love that Dr. Samani has a write up of everything printed to show me what my options are and the prices for each and what she recommends (which is usually the cheaper option). She also charged half of what my previous dentist did for a build up and crown. I’m sure there are less expensive dentists somewhere (hers seem pretty middle of the road), but for the quality of her work and the price point I couldn’t be happier. My gums have also been in better shape, she recognized right away why I was having the problems with them that I was (the previous dentist had left too wide a gap when he put in my crown) and she was able to correct the issue and suggest preventative measures to take.
The hygienist is a wonderful woman, always cheerful and kind and very competent, and has been there for years. In fact, in the years I’ve been going I haven’t seen very much turnover at all in the staff which usually indicates that it’s a good place to work. My husband sees her and is equally happy and my parents have visited Dr. Samani when they need emergency work while they’re in town. In fact, I first became aware of her poor ratings on here because my father made an appointment and then panicked when he saw the bad reviews and called me to make sure this was the right dentist. When he saw them (and he really hates going to the dentist in general so he already had a bias) he didn’t understand the bad reviews either. He was perfectly happy, they were quick, upfront, thorough and professional.
I suppose the décor is a little dated? I don’t know that I would have noticed if I hadn’t read it in another review, it’s a dentists office not a salon, I don’t know that I’d judge by their interior decorating. I had a previous dentists office that upgraded to huge glass windows and modern furnishings and then started charging their patients twice as much to cover it, so I don’t actually find décor to be of the utmost importance in a dentist. Everything is very clean, and the tools all seem very modern, the x-​ray machine feels like much less of a hassle than the ones I was used to previously. (And I really REALLY appreciate that they don’t try to over x-​ray you. Once a year is all they’ve done for me ever. A previous dentist –yep I had a few, it’s hard to find a good one– used to try to X-​Ray me after after little bit of work they’d done. As in several a trip sometimes. Insurance wouldn’t cover that, and that is NOT healthy for a human to have done regardless.)
As for claims of her being curt with a poor bedside manner, I don’t mean to belittle someone else’s experience, but I personally have never experienced this at all. I wouldn’t call her excessively smiley or chipper, but she’s not unfriendly. She is a little matter-​of-​fact about the care, she doesn’t sugar coat things or beat around the bush, but I prefer the upfront. She doesn’t feel like she’s scolding or making a huge thing out of it either.
Another issue I appreciated was how her office staff really takes dealing with the insurance company on themselves. Insurance can be ridiculous and I’ve had more than one dentist previously want to either charge me upfront for EVERYTHING and wait to see if the insurance would reimburse, or force me to call and deal with difficulties myself when they arose. Dr. Samani’s staff has always dealt with this stuff themselves, even telling me when I was concerned once that –no, we checked your policy it’s definitely covered, sometimes they just get kicked back for whatever reason, don’t worry about it, we’ll resubmit and call and deal with it if it’s a problem.
I couldn’t be happier.

Competent service and the people have been nice. Dr. Samani knows her stuff. I would recommend.

If I could give a –1 star I would. The dentist was very curt and did not seem to want me as a patient (bad bedside manner), did not ask about my level of comfort. Staff seemed equally inconvenienced by my presence. I will never go back.

the first thing Dr. Samani spoke to me about was my insurance and was so eager to get my most expensive procedures out of the way. If it hadn’t been for my own knowledge of insurance, My treatment plan would have far exceeded my benefits available to me.
Dr. Samani is not a comforting DDS to say the least. She made me feel like my teeth were a ticking time bomb and that I was going to end up in the E.R.
I really felt that this practice’s main concern is reimbursement.
The support staff is not very friendly.
and the facility is out dated with little to no interior updates. when I’m having my teeth worked on I get distracted by how lazy someone must have been that painted this place.
When numbing my teeth she applied oragel and right away followed with the Novocain. typically when having major dental work done I have had the topical numbing agent sit for a few minutes and then the Dr. comes in says «Okay, we are going to start here… slight pinch, let me know if you get uncomfortable» … something along those lines. This was not the case during my visit with Dr. Samani. I haven’t been this nervous about the dentist since I was 7 years old.
I will not be visiting this dentist again.

I had a horrible accident a few years ago. I lost 4 teeth. Dr Samani restored all 4 teeth, did the root canals, whitened them, and has provided all of the advice I needed to help keep my teeth clean. She walked me through how to use the special floss I need, and provided great educational material to help me understand where and how plaque form on my teeth. Overall, very caring dentist. Highly recommend.

Terrible experience. Painful, bad service, bad bedside manner. most unpleasant dental experience of my life.

First off, Dr Samani is a great dentist. She explains everything thoroughly and ensures you are comfortable. The downsides to her office are her support staff. The dental hygienist and dental assistants are not professional at all. You can tell how they speak to her or make comments while she is not listening. At one point, the assistant was speaking loudly across the office and Samani asked her politely to come to her and talk. That kind of courtesy should be expected in a doctor’s office. This office is also much older and needs to be upgraded or moved.

Only so-so…enough said!
