What a great, great place! Came here for a friend to get tested after a very, very bad experience at the Travis County STD clinic(stay away from there!). This place is leaps and bounds above that experience with very kind, informed, supportive people making it work. Great counseling and great environment. I’m glad they are doing the work they do!

Hard to rate a non-profit doing good for the people, but if you’re looking for a place to offer service/volunteer, the Food Bank at this NE Austin location is satisfying… and fun. Every other week recipients of aid from ASA come in to get groceries(which although donated, are not a lot go on for 2 weeks), and volunteers are needed to receive and organize food prior to that day, as well those to help the recipients get their food together after they fill out their sheets. Volunteers whiz around the kitchen and stuff bags, sometimes take the bags out to the car or bus of the ricipient, and at times take food to the people who are not able to get to the facility. Volunteers usually travel in twos or more, and it’s a nice group of people. Very gracious population, and much more diverse than you might imagine. Also countless opportunities to volunteer for annual events.
