I’ve only had the tacos and they are tasty, but they don’t stand out. Salsa is the same, tasty but not a stand out or a star.

This place is an old-school, family-owned Mexican restaurant that’s been around for years. The food is your standard fare for a Mexican restaurant, but it’s very cheap and(more importantly) very good. Service is fast, the place is clean and the people behind the counter are friendly. I’ve eaten here several times and never been disappointed, unlike some other places I could name off Riverside. If you’re looking for quick, cheap and good Mexican food, you could definitely do worse than this place.

This place is on point! Everything I have eaten here is good! The sweet tea is the best! Their rice let me say I always order extra rice, it’s that good! And their menudo is in the top 5 in my book, well time to go my menudo is waiting.

Bought tacos and menudo on 7÷12÷2015 for the family and it was all good as usual. Congratulations on 25 yrs of being in the neighborhood and providing great food and service for everyone. Great staff and clean environment.

2stars for cleanliness & friendliness… I prefer Marecelino’s Pan Y Vino for breakfast tacos, but its out of the way so i sometimes go to alonzos which is 4 blocks away… i decided to try their enchilada plate for lunch, not impressed rice and beans were microwaved, it showed on the to go styrofoam plate the food was melted on to it & the cheese on the enchilada wasn’t even melted! Really?!? Is this how you treat«your so called neighbors» in M-Town??? I’d rather make the drive elsewhere, seems like Alonzos is just in it for the $$ instead of the quality! Where’s the the love to your neighbors Alonzos! SMDH!!! Won’t return and I will definitely spread the word about how horrible the food is! SO disappointed!!!

Two barbacoa tacos and a red Chile later I’m still underwhelmed. The place is clean but that’s the extent of favorite parts. The food came out pretty quickly. The green sauce is decent. Not sure I’ll return unless I need something very quick to scarf down. And no time to do it. Not much to say here. I’ll have to make a trip back for breakfast tacos.

This place is a last resort. I have tried almost everything on the menu and the food never fails to be BLEH. Cheap ingredients, bland taste. I was honestly flabbergasted reading all of these great reviews. Let’s put it this way, I live in the neighborhood and even though I can walk to this place, I would rather drive elsewhere for my tacos. The only time I will eat at Alonzo’s is when I’m too hungover to function and every bite of food tastes like the alcohol and regret from the night before anyway. Like I said, last resort.

I won’t be down right cruel. I give them a star for the cleanliness at least and nice employees. However that’s where it end for me. You can be nice but if the food is bland or just down nasty you lose me. I visited on 7⁄18 of this year and I thought getting their early enough I’d be okay. I actually passed by to give it a few figuring a few cars would accumulate before I got back. I got back and I was the only person there. The staff thought I was a regular(no problem) but still try not to assume. I got a special and it reeked of lipton Mexican rice and gross meats. I know the prices aren’t high but sometimes you really do get what you pay for. No thanks I’m not a fan.

Authentic Mexican food at its best. Very reasonable prices, and the owner is very accommodating to picky eaters and people eating vegetarian(like me :)

Phenomenally good green chili enchiladas. Sides of rice and beans are way more flavorful than typically at most tex mex places. Great value here too.

Very«homey» atmosphere. Especially the little homie busboy haha food was cheap, quick, and good. You get what you pay for, but it’s still good and I will definitely be back next time I get hit with the taco fits in Montopolis.

The food was mediocre at best. We ordered about ten different items and one ok. The rest were bland and boring.

While breakfast tacos are like a religion in Austin, I’d never heard about this place, so when a co-worker brought a bag of Alonzo tacos into work one morning, I was skeptical. I thought I’d eaten the extent of breakfast tacos in Austin. I mean breakfast tacos and I are like BFFs. So let’s get real here… HOWCOULD I HAVEMISSEDTHISPLACE? These tacos were so good, I now have an excuse to hit up the East Riverside area. The potato egg and cheese tacos(although so simple) had a complex and delicious flavor. I ended up eating two. I then became a major fatty and had a bacon egg and cheese taco. It was so good, I went for fourths. To my disgust, my other co-workers had finished these OUT-OF-THIS-WORLD tacos. I was SO heartbroken but vowed to return to get my hands on more of these delicious tacos. I don’t know if Alonzo Tacos infuse crack into their concoctions, but they are some of the best breakfast tacos I’ve ever eaten in Austin. HANDSDOWN. Definitely will be back.

Thank God for tacos, and Alonzo’s has them wrapped up in spades. Beef fajita taco wasn’t exactly what I was expecting, but it was good. Al pastor taco was tangy. Carne guisada was pleasant. $ 6 for those three tacos and a small tea. Not bad. Breakfast I had the next day was better. Chorizo was not greasy and they had great bacon on the bacon/egg taco. They get 4 stars for breakfast, maybe only 3 for lunch. Salsa comes in squirt jars and is pedestrian, but that’s not all bad. Don’t be afraid of the exterior. Reminds me of San Antonio. This is what a taco joint should look like.

I’ll admit that I was skeptical of Alonzo’s as I drove down Montopolis. Maybe it was the fact that they only take cash, maybe it was the fact that my co-worker ordered Kool-aid with her lunch special, maybe it was the fact that the lunch special is a burger, fried, and drink for under 3 bucks. However, after pulling my meal out of the brown bag my skeptism was replaced with bliss!!! The burgers were cooked to perfection. The sweet tea was just right. The fries were thick without being undercooked. My co-workers raved about this place for months before I tried it, and now I’m officially hooked to Alonzo’s. I can’t think of anyway to describe it besides: P. Terry’s times 2!!!
