Always satisfying — great food, hard working staff.

Tasty food, great margaritas, friendly staff, and it’s very affordable. We eat here at least once a month and we’ve never had a bad meal. Fantastic little place.

Awesome. Exceptional food– bistek tacos with cilantro and avocado were excellent as was the fish Taco platter(served on hot skillet) — owner was pleasant and helpful– we will be back– unusual shaped place with bar and restaurant kind of jammed together but oh so good

Had the El Salvadorian pupusas that were on special on Saturday night. They were out of this world! Margaritas were barely okay… and that is what BF was after. His food was okay so he would have given three stars. Mine was so good I am waiting to get a text from Amigos letting me know that they have pupusas on special again.

The worst fajitas and service I’ve ever had. Seriously, I wish I would have stayed at home for a frozen meal. The fajitas were the poorest quality, I didn’t even know fajitas could taste that bad. I’m not a picky eater, but holy cow! No pun intended… The Hot Chips and green and red salsa were the ONLY good thing about this place. This place needs a Bar Rescue or Reality Show Makeover. I could do better at cooking and serving. My tip to Amigos: Get a friendly staff, Get a Hostess, Get some Décor and get some better FOOD! We walked in and some young guy was playing on his phone and didn’t know how to speak English and wasn’t in uniform and he kind of greeted us after we greeted him?!? It was totally awkward… Our server never asked if we were enjoying our food… I had a feeling he knows how horrible it is.

Such an unexpected surprise! I was bringing fajitas for 10 to an office for lunch and Amigos was close by. I read the reviews and decided to give it a chance. The staff was great, the food was superb and was an overall great experience. Thanks Amigos!

Amazed this place is still around. Service is still questionable and the food really isn’t that good. If you watch any of the food shows Restaurant Impossbile etc you will most likely find out reasons why this place is so poor… FROZEN food used way too much. This is Austin and have too many choices when it comes to Tex Mex… take $$ elsewhere, even the drinks aren’t that good… or just go next door to Subway

I’m not especially impressed by the food, but for the money during the lunch hour it’s hard to beat. The service is hit or miss: I remember during the summer having a 10 year old boy wait on our table. He actually did a fairly good job! But it’s also easy to go 15 minutes without getting checked on. The salsas, however, are great. I could take it or leave it as a lunch spot. As a spot to come have a drink and some chips/salsa during happy hour while lounging on the patio, very nice.

What a find! My cousin and I stopped in for lunch and left with our bellies full and hearts warmed. The food(particularly the corn salad and queso!) hit the spot. But what really made an impact was the gracious hospitality of owner Joe Fuentes and his team. Thank you, Joe, for everything. See you again.

Amazing place for casual, authentic, and delicious Mexican food! The salsa is a bit too spicy for me, but delicious! I eat it anyway, and I don’t generally like like hot salsa. The tacos are AWESOME. The Bisteak and Pork ones especially — but you cannot go wrong with any of them. Queso Blanco is delicious. Their fajitas were okay, but I have to admit I’ve had better. I’d stick with the tacos or carnitas. The Margaritas are great — especially for $ 4! The patio is spacious and the service is great. The staff are SO nice and friendly. It can be a bit slow if they are super busy — because they cook your food fresh so its worth the little extra wait. Highly recommended.

Lowest quality, most tasteless food I’ve had in a long time. Disgusting beef fajitas. Would have been better just paying for it and not eating it. What a waste. +1 star for their salsas.

Amigos has delicious tacos, warm chips and a fantastic little wooden deck/patio to enjoy on summer evenings. I’ve had the Barbacoa tacos and Carne Guisada. Both were absolutely delicious. They bring two small bowls of salsa with contrasting colors and flavors. Basically, it’s green and red. On my second visit I enjoyed the Ricas Enchiladas. These were creamy, rich and delicious without feeling too overwhelming. I haven’t actually ordered any hard drinks at Amigos, but they seem to have the bar pretty well stocked with the usual fare. It’s close, cheap, open later than some and, most importantly, delicious!

Raise your hand if you like bad food and sub par margaritas!!! Anybody? No??? Yeah, I’m not gonna raise my hand either. I can’t believe how many good reviews this place got. I went for lunch and ordered some nachos with chorizo to start off with. The chorizo tasted like armpits smell. It was rubbery and not cooked well. Oh well, I’ll take a sip of this margarita and the food will start to taste better. Yuck! The margarita was loaded down with sweet and sour. I managed to suck that Rita down(it was a beautiful day outside, I was thirsty) and ordered a frozen Rita hoping that would be better. Nope. I then went on to get the combo quesadillas. If you’ve ever mixed rubber and low grade beef and chicken together, you have experienced what the food tastes like at Amigos. If you’re looking for a spot to enjoy a beautiful day on the patio with a beer then this is a pretty good option. The patio is spacious and you can’t screw up bottled beer. If you are looking for some really good Tex Mex and a good margarita, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. Las Lomas in RR would be a good choice. Heck, Rosa’s Drive thru is much better than this joint.

GREAT service, food, drinks, and prices. Carnivore date had a taco plate. Vegan me had the veggie tacos sans cheese. Now, I’m not militant about my diet, but I do think there may have been some animal stock used to sauté the veggies. They were REALLY good and something grease-like was dripping from them. It was a small amount, though, if any; I feel no side-effects. Service was quick and accurate. Drinks were cold and tasty. There are a bunch of a la carte items on the menu, so you can keep within budget, easily. I really have zero complaints, and I’m sure we’ll be back, soon.

Great Service! I’ve only been to Amigo’s 3 times so far(2 for the beer and 1 for dinner), but I love the staff. They are all very friendly, and their timing is perfect! So far, I’ve only had drinks and their blanca enchiladas. It was a little different than some of the restaurants that have the blanca enchiladas, but it seems to have made them move to the top of my list. The fajita beef inside the enchilada, was superb.(I can’t wait to go back and try their fajitas!) My friend ordered the quesadillas, and they looked soooo amazing! I can’t wait to try more on the menu. Also, the prices are very fair, as all 3 times, I haven’t been over $ 20, and that’s queso, dinner, drinks, and more drinks.(:

Middle of the road Tex-Mex, middle of the road pricing. For a new place, they don’t really seem to have that«zing» going for them… We had the Mexican poboy, and taco lunch special. The tacos were pretty good, but the beans were gritty — which should never happen. The poboy was interesting… I thought it was a cool idea, but upon trying it… womp womp… no go. Oily, and too much bread… wasn’t very good. While an original idea, I wonder if anyone working there has tried it, because if they did, they would probably agree. The chips and salsa… especially the green chili salsa were pretty good. So, meh, I’ve had better… considering there are other better, similar restaurants in the area.

I had the tacos and they were amazing. After going back a couple times, I think they have surpassed Torchy’s as my favorite in Austin. The tacos are definitely a more traditional taco than Torchy’s. I’ve tried 6 or 7 different types tacos and each has been delicious. There are a lot of other things on the menu that look good but I might not ever have them because I can’t pass up the tacos. I will be a regular at this place.

Introducing an entirely new category of cuisine on Unilocal. That’s right, everybody gather round and make some noise for«FAIL-MEX». Judging from the reviews that predate my own, I can only assume that the family that owns this hole has several family members who are avid Unilocalers posting shill reviews in order to bolster the rating. This place is everything that is wrong with Tex mex in Austin, and the embodiment of everything I hate about restaurant owners who are lucky enough to be able to open a restaurant, and then piss it away down the river of watered down, half ass attempts. Between the obnoxious live music that was way too loud for the confined space and the trashy bitch sitting next to us manhandling her kids, while talking about what a good person she is, I barely noticed how completely unremarkable the food was — until I did. Seriously, there is not a single dish here that I have not had better somewhere else, or have made better myself. The real insult though is the $ 10.00 Mexican martini that tastes like Kool-aid and comes served in a plastic shaker, which is not capable of chilling liquid to a temperature south of tepid. As I sit here typing this, I am so furious at the uncomfortable sensation of the slop from this trough sitting heavy on my stomach, that I have almost decided to induce vomiting just so I don’t have to feel it anymore. Seriously Austin’s new restaurants, either quit sucking or get the«F» out of town!

I work over in the Amber Oaks business park and pass by this place everyday on my way home from work. Today, I decided to give it a go for lunch. It wasn’t busy at all and I was met by a really nice host who told me about the dynamite lunch specials($ 6.40 after tax = ballin). I got the cheese enchilada plate that came with rice and beans. The enchildas were absolutely delicious and you can tell they’re working wtih authentic cheese here. The beans had a nice almost smokey flavor that I had never experienced before and the rice was pretty much the standard as far as mexican rice goes. The thing that sets this place apart is the fresh chips and salsa. The chips were about as fresh as you can get and the salsas(red ancho chipotle and spicy salsa verde) made sure I left with a food baby in tow. Plus, and this is a minute bonus detail, the water comes with lime. LIME! When life hands you lemons, ask for limes instead. Only thing I had to knock a star off for was the fly that buzzed around my head the entire time I ate. I know it’s not necessarily their fault… but maybe closing the door to the patio would keep the bugs outside. Also, the wait staff was nice, but the host was much more energetic and eager to help while my waitress was just kinda ‘there’. Anyways, for the price and the taste, get to it. They also had some awesome looking dishes like fajitas, salads, and buritos so if you’re in the need for a quick mexi-fix, check this place out and you won’t be disappointed.
