We were pumped to go to amys while in austin but it was disappointing. The line wasn’t too long (3 people in front) but it took forever! Then the ice crema was extremely lacking in falvor. My husband got a beer flavored one and said it wasn’t good. My mexican vanilla had no taste of vanilla. It was just blah.

Thank god I didn’t realize there was an Amy’s within walking distance until recently or else I would have been in huge trouble. Typical Amy’s — amazing ice cream, nice staff and mixins for dayz. Easy parking our front and the best ice cream ever!

I finally like Amy’s Ice Cream! I like basic ice cream flavors so I would order ‘Just Vanilla’, but I never liked it. I thought maybe the ice cream machines or something was wrong because it tasted like PLAYDOUGH. So I ordered ‘Just Vanilla’ a second time. NOPE. It really does taste like PLAYDOUGH. Me and several of my friends agree. If you must get Vanilla then get the Mexican Vanilla, otherwise you might as well eat Playdough.
Moving on, I tried Shiner Ice Cream with Pretzels and wow. That was enough for me to forgive all the playdough tasting Vanilla I had in the past. It was really really good and the salty pretzels went really well with the sweetness. I highly recommend.

Was hoping they were a part of «free ice cream day» but unfortunately they weren’t however price is still cheap. Ice cream was really good. Like cold stone level good. The Mexican vanilla is the best I’ve ever had. We’ll be coming back

Gotta love Amy’s — local ice cream with a weird flair. It couldn’t get more Austin than that!
We go to this location most frequently because it’s close to our house and super convenient. I also love that the staff gets excited about the ice cream creations they think up. The employees seems to mostly be college and high school aged kids, and I honestly can’t think of a better summer gig.
They’re fun, friendly, and the ice cream is tasty. I’m only knocking off one star because sometimes they run out of my desired flavor before the end of the night (but doesn’t that mean they’re doing something right?).
They were even open late on the Fourth of July — which meant post-​fireworks treats. Win!

Probably had the worst customer service experience EVER at this Amy’s. The ice cream is good, that’s not what this review is about.
After just looking at us, and not saying hello or asking what we wanted, our ice cream server asked us «what we were doing here?». What? There is nothing else to do at this Amy’s, after Phils ice house closes, than get ice cream! At this point, other people are there and it’s about an hour before close.
Alright, after my boyfriend ordered his ice cream, he asked the guy serving us if knew any tricks, and our ice cream sever responded «no, not for you two. yall aren’t nice enough.» Uhm.
This comment ruined my ice cream. Maybe it shouldn’t have, but any situation where my server insinuates that I’m mean and undeserving, I’m not going to get into again.
I like Amy’s, and it’s better than that.

Great ice cream. Great staff — one guy would throw a scoop of ice cream and catch it in a cup behind his back. It’s a really fun place to get ice cream. Definitely worth checking out.

There was literally no one at the counter when I went here today. The two employees for Phil’s Icehouse were sitting around with nothing to do. When I started looking around, they said, she will be back. After ten minutes of waiting and no attempt from the Phil’s people to help, I left with nothing. People have to go to the bathroom I get that, but to have two other employees sitting around unable or unwilling to help is not acceptable.
I also don’t recommend buying the pre-​packed pints. They tend to get a lot of ice in them that makes them gross. The same can be said for the frozen raspberries as a mixing about part of the time.
Amy’s is decent ice cream, but I wish it wasn’t so dominant in Austin. I honestly think marble slab has a better flavor.

Out of town to go. But I’m here right now at the one next to phil’s and I ordered $ 6.58 of Mexican vanilla, strawberries and chocolate chips. It’s almost completely melted when they handed it to me. They try to sell me on the fact that the melted ice cream makes the strawberries taste better. Ummm I did not want sweetened milk. I said it should not be that melted. He said well sometime that’s the way it goes. Ohhh not when I’m paying that much for a handful of ice cream. If there is something wrong with your freezer, fix it, close down for the day ect. But please don’t make me eat melted ice cream and get a bad taste in my mouth for Amy’s who I have loved for so many years. So from now on I will stick to the arboretum Amy’s and south congress. Hope they get there ice cream frozen before the next patron comes by.

The only thing better than Amy’s Ice Cream on a cold winter day is Amy’s Ice Cream on a warm one.
Amy’s in general has been a long time favorite of mine and this particular location has become my first choice when the craving hits me. My kids love the outside play area and with the adjoining Phil’s Ice House we will often do both lunch and dessert. The playscape is great and makes the perfect outing with the kids just about anytime.
As with all Amy’s, the service is a big part of the fun. The staff here is outgoing and make ordering an event as they juggle your ice cream into your cup. Ice cream with a mix-​in is the way we usually go. Anything with peanut butter cup is a sure winner. The kids love that they can also get sprinkles for no extra cost.
Amy’s is always good.

I came in for ice cream at 9pm and the kids working were mopping the floor. I didn’t mind that they were trying to clean up 2 hours before closing, but I did mind that the boy mopping kept asking me to move so he could continue mopping around me. Service was fine, but when I dug into my sweet cream and dark chocolate ice cream, I pulled on a piece of hair. When I pulled the entire strand out, it measured 14 inches long. The grossest thing I’ve ever found in food before.

Yummy ice cream but not enough options for someone looking for non dairy… When I go there with my partner I just have to watch her eat because there really isn’t an option for me. The option they do have is frozen solid and not worth the money.

The ice cream here is excellent: cold, rich, creamy… And they have a decent assortment of toppings. Not as extensive as say a Coldstone, but covers most bases. They have some fun flavors including alcohol flavors and you can taste them all. Customer service is great, nice late hours, and lines move fast.
This location shares space with Phil’s Icehouse who I hear has great burgers, I keep coming just for the ice cream. Situated on South Lamar it has the same fun, quirky vibe the area is blanketed with. And there is a nice sized outdoor eating space with a cute playground for the kids to work off their sugar-​high ;)

Loved this place!!! The flavors were so cool and I guess I would have to say I’m a bit biased because I love chocolate — especially dark chocolate, which they had in abundance.
It was also really cool to see some alcoholic flavors on the menu as well. I can’t wait to come back sometime!

Man I love this place — the ice cream is good and the vibe is very friendly. Though, it’s very pricey for what I’m getting. I used to think Marble Slab was expensive. Of course, I’ll continue to go here. The location on Lamar is so much less of a hassle than the one on Guadalupe.
The combos they have are as ridiculous and awesome as the people that work here. We saw some pretty impressive ice cream juggling (I think that’s what I would call it) and some really weird hats. I think they’ve convinced me that they’re genuinely happy serving ice cream to the masses. There’s always something new to choose from and something crazy to see.

The Brandy Alexander is aaaamazing!
With the locations that are combined with a Phil’s Icehouse — Amy’s is the perfect destination for parents with young kids. Get dinner for the whole family, drinks for mom and dad if you want ‘em, and dessert is right there all while the kids play on the playground! (My review of Phil’s Icehouse goes into more detail of the playground etiquette…)
Last time I went the girl behind the counter was learning to portion and she accidentally mixed up too much ice cream… what a happy oops that was for us! She was really sweet about it.
Pick your ice cream, pick your crushins, watch ‘em mix it and walk away with happy kids and the perfect treat :) Stop by the photobooth on your way out to capture your smiles!
Pay attention to the seasonal and daily flavors menu — that’s where you can really have your socks knocked off!
