I wish this store wasn’t so far from me. I love it, the people who work there are very nice and helpful. They will take time out to talk to you and give you suggestions if you have questions about herbs and oils or need help. I love the way the place smells, but I can see how it could be a bit much, especially if you are allergic to incense. There is almost always someone there reading tarot. They have a great selection of herbs, oils, books, incenses and candles and are reasonably priced.

Overwhelming smell of soaps/incense/essential oils and herbs. It smelt so strong my husband could not come in with me and asked me to air out before I sat in the car with him. Thin inventory. If you want new age books, you would be better going to any other bookstore or ordering online. If it’s candles you’re after head over to Crystal Works that has a tidy section of colored candles, tarot, sage, etc. If you want herbs, head on over to The Herb Bar, which has a more numerous, fresher selection. If you want a faux velveteen place mat with a pentacle on it, or a cheap pewter pendant stamped with a generic goddess image, go ahead and check out Ancient Mysteries. The only upsides I could see to going to Ancient mysteries are the fact that they do have a room that looks like holds and active practice, and if you happen to find yourself stranded for a year without soap, a 10 minute browse in this place might trick your friends into thinking you bathe regularly.

What I like most about Ancient Mysteries is that I usually go in with a list of items to get, and I usually find them all. They’re a great place to find a variety of herbs and oils(essential oils, magick oils, etc.), along with incense in its myriad forms. They also have a modest tarot card and book selection. There’s also rocks/stones, jewelry, incense burners, crystal balls, specialty candles, and more. You can find some locally made stuff as well as standard Lucky Mojo items. The store is small and well-organized, but there’s a surprising amount of *stuff* to look at. I’ve definitely spent my fair share of time browsing every inch of the place. The only issues I have are with the staff and the prices, both of which are ultimately negligible because of the convenience of finding what I’m looking for.(And it doesn’t hurt that I live 5 minutes from the store.) But… as an example, let’s talk about taper candles. Not specialty candles(as far as I can tell), just standard, colored taper candles — $ 1.50 for one. Most places sell them for $ 0.50. Everything in the store seems slightly more expensive compared to prices I’ve found online and at other local stores. And the staff… I don’t know exactly what it is… are they not friendly? Are they not approachable? Do they seem full of themselves? Maybe all of the above. There’s a blonde woman who is pretty loud and I find her kind of obnoxious… she seems good-spirited enough, but her dealings with me haven’t been particularly warm. She’s usually at the counter chatting up fellow employees or familiar customers or commenting on how a particular goddess doesn’t seem like a «patchouli girl.» There’s also a younger brunette woman who is quiet and has been attentive, and helpful in looking for items I can’t find, but she’s not particularly warm either. It almost seems like customers are a nuisance. That said, the employees are obviously practitioners themselves, and they know what they’re talking about. It’s just a matter of catching their attention. Overall, this store is a hidden gem in an otherwise nondescript strip mall. Despite the questionable prices and the cold employees, it’s a good resource for finding a lot of useful occult items and even gifts.

Further and additional trips to this store are always a highlight to any trip south. I am truly excited to go in as I’m always welcomed and I love to hear the banter with any customer inside; they are treated as well as I was on my first time. Any staff member will be helpful with your questions whether serious or curious. I have purchased some items that have been of great personal help to me over the last several years. Highly recommended. Incense, candles, amulets, rings, books, other necessary items, some clothing, a wealth of knowledge. One of my favorite Austin stores.

I’m not Wiccan or a firm practitioner of anything spiritual, but I went here to help break a run of bad luck and found advice on exactly what I needed. Great shop!

I’ve been there several times and I like the products that they have. I wish they would tell of actives they have or how to get involved. I walk in there and the feeling is different each time. Some staff is friendly and others are not. You can tell that the mood changes. They need to tell people that they are there.

Great little hole-in-the-wall type of place. The road it’s on is a one way street, and I drove past it once before I saw it, but it was very easy to do a loop around and get back. The Inside is very nice, clean, and well spaced out so there’s room to browse around. They had a nice selection of candles and gem stones, was fairly impressed with the various selection. They also had shelves of books on many various topics. In the back, I found practically every kind of herb, oil, and incense I could think of. The ladies who worked their were also very sweet and helpful. I would definitely come back here and recommend it to others. One thing to keep in mind though: they don’t use shopping bags, so if you’re gonna be buying more than a few items, make sure you have a lot of pockets or be prepared to carry your items out :)

Such a great place! Reasonable prices, fantastic selections of tarot, herbs, stones, jewelry, and even some clothing. They also seem to get new things in all the time. They were out of the roll-on sandalwood perfume I usually buy, and they called me as soon as they got in back in! :) Great store, highly recommended!

Cool little store. Lots of incense and chime candles, as well as other«supernatural» stuff like White Sage smudging sticks. Staff is VERY friendly and fun. Hey, if there’s the slightest chance lighting a candle can bring peace and good mojo my way it’s worth 45 cents and a match. :)

What a great place. I drove during rush hour from up north, and I don’t regret it at all. Rene was so nice and helpful. I went home with some great candles that I can’t wait to burn. Thanks again, and I’ll be back soon!

I found my new favorite place! I really love it! I was looking for supplies and not only did I find exactly what I needed, but I found more! This place has candles, incense holders, cauldrons, herbs, smudging bowls. I can’t wait to go back again and again. The lady that was there was very nice and very helpful. I love this shop. Best place to go and grab something to lift you up, get creative, and explore your deeper-self. Everything here is reasonably priced. Makes for a fun afternoon visit and a few dollars can buy you something that changes you for the better.

The new location is amazing! It’s bright and airy and the space has a huge classroom area in the back. The wall of dried herbs just goes on and on – if they don’t have what you need, then you probably don’t need it! The book selection has been greatly expanded as well. The gal behind the counter was friendly and knowledgeable. I will definitely be back.

If Midnight doesn’t have what you need, she’s happy to help you find it. She’s very helpful & friendly, willing to chat about things. The shop has a great selection(especially for how small it is), with the statuary and the jewelry being notable. One of my favorite shops in Austin!
