Applebee’s

I went here with a friend because we just wanted drinks after being at the pool all day. My experience was truly awful. The table we had was sticky; if you rested your arms on it, there would be a slight stick. Gross. Our server was Anthony. This is a prime example of a guy that just had no motivation, not initiative. The drinks on the menu don’t have prices (we wanted a margarita). We asked Anthony, and he said he would be right back. He said, «it’s about 7 dollars,» so we ended up getting it. They were just slush. They wholeheartedly put no alcohol in it. It was just… Water. Then, we ordered a sample combo (it’s like a 4 or 5 appetizers in one). Anthony just wrote it down as three separate appetizers, even after we pointed to the exact thing we wanted. My friend had to correct him and Anthony just says, «my bad.» It was awful too. It’s all microwaved food. It just comes frozen in portions and they just stick it in a microwave. We shouldn’t have expected better from Applebee’s, but damn. The boneless wings on our sample combo was just pure breaded, and heavily sauced. Just pure vileness, and there is no hyperbole in that statement. My friend then wanted a martini, so it came in one shaker and two glasses. We asked Anthony how much the martini was, and again he had to go ask. He comes back and said, «it’s like 5 dollars.» So we said ok. The martini was awful. There was no alcohol I bet you. No real olive juice. It was just martini mix that tasted like lime… I don’t even know what happened. We get the bill, and we were shocked. The prices Anthony told us were several dollars different than on the bill. Two margaritas, one martini, and one sample combo plate was over 50.00. We were outraged. Awful time. Awful food. VERY awful drinks. Don’t ever come to this place. Just leave. Don’t try it. Anyone who gives this place anymore than 2 stars is probably a liar. I promise you. Don’t settle. I reiterate: an awful experience.

Its Monday and I just paid 11 dollars for a half cooked burger and French fry «Special». Worst experience /​Memorial Day EVER…

4÷3÷16 — Great Customer Service waiter was on point! served immediately! You better this waiter got a nice tip. Left logans on S. Stassney because of bad customer service.

Very satisfied the staff was very professional and polite. Normally all the restaurants we have been to on the south side have been filled with rude staff so it was a shock to relieve this kind of service

Ordered soup and salad and it took 30 minutes during lunch and we were 2 of only 8 people in the establishment

Very slow service when it’s not even busy and all we ordered was a soup and salad. I don’t like judging but there knowledge of food and service is under par. The food tasted just blah. It’s wants good. The restaurant wasn’t even that busy and there were loud kids as well. Not worth it.

The menu had low cal alternatives which was nice. The food quality was what you would expect from a chain restaurant, not bad and consistent quality control.
My criticism was exclusively the service… it was just plain bad and the restaurant was not busy. We saw the server when she took our order and saw her when she dropped off the check. That was it. No water refills, no pre-​busing, no checking if we needed anything. The kitchen had to drop off the food. We could not even get our check paid, we waited and waited but then finally went to the bar to get someone to pay us out.

Had a great lunch here on a Saturday! The new bartender Bryan gave us exemplary service and was hilarious. My Margeritas were on point and dat spinach dip!

Why eat here when we are in Austin?! I’m disappointed in myself for bringing the family here when we could’ve ate better quality food and better customer service.
Our waiter was nice. But he was slow in keeping up with our order (forgot to bring everything out). Also, the manager walked past our table 3 times and didn’t check in with us. While the manager walked by 3 times, I didn’t see our waiter and ended up asking him to grab our check.
Poor quality of food. When you can be a foodie in Austin, Applebee’s could try to keep up with taste… Right?

Would give 0 stars if possible. Waited for an hour for two burgers, then the manager Eric came by and asked if we still wanted our food. Will not be coming back

Ate here yesterday, and wish I could give this place zero stars. Food was terrible, cold, and ended up giving me food poisoning. I’ve been sick since shortly after we left the restaurant and have been ever since. The only reason it will get the 1 star is for the fact that our waitresses (Amy J and her twin sister who’s name I’ve forgotten) we’re good at what they did, and offered us great service. Unfortunately, I hadn’t read the Unilocal reviews before attending, but totally wish I had considering a lot of others have share my experience. Advice to any is to keep going to pretty much anywhere else except this restaurant. There’s a Chili’s and Taco Bell across 35, and I definitely wish I would have eaten there.

Hadn’t been to Applebee’s in ages and will not be coming back. We were met at the front door by a young girl that told us there would be a ten minute wait and asked if we’d still want to stay. Well there is a wait at almost every restaurant in Austin on the weekend so we were surprised she made a big deal of this, she asked us twice if we wanted to stay. We told her yes. The wait was more like 5 minutes. We were sat and noone came to start our drink order for atleast 10 minutes. Our waitress finally came and we were ready to give her the whole food/​drink order. When we received our food, many things were not correct. The mushroom burger my dad ordered, had 2 mushrooms on it. When we said something, we were dismissed and told that the mushroom burger doesn’t have many mushrooms on top. He had also asked for lettuce/​tomato which was not delivered until we asked for it. The response we received took forever and the attitude of the server was pretty lame. Our server hated her job, you could tell. Noone ever checked on us, our order was incomplete and we had to flag down other servers to correct our order. Just a mess. Lastly, it wasn’t even 30 minutes and I was sick as a dog. Something there made my night a horror. We aren’t in any hurry to return, especially to this location.

Sergio H has to step up his game! I didn’t receive my silverware till after my food made it too the table… That should say a lot honestly. The food was good but the service was TERRIBLE.

Great place to eat and very good waitstaff. Very friendly and great food. Can’t wait to go there again. My daughter took me there for mothers day before mothers day

Seated as soon as we walked in, waiter (Aaron) was super attentive, gluten intolerant husband was able to eat. Had food with 5 minutes of ordering. Second visit here, super happy with service both times.

Oh my god if there is ever a new place to avoid or chain of restaurants to avoid this is the one. I had moved in the area of this Applebees literally within walking distance.
Partner not decided why not we can go have drinks there every now and then since its so close by we don’t have to drive or get a cab.
But the place itself and service is usually in bad shape. The service is pretty poor as the last time I saw the host tell my server that they had another table and when the guy got to us he literally rolled his eyes while asking us what we wanted to drink.
At that point I was already ready to walk out, but my partner said we’re already here and we’re hungry might as well just stay. The food came out a while later and was completely over cooked I ordered a steak medium and it came out well done and burnt on one side.
I got a side something as simple as just fries to go with the steak which day were cold and there was one there completely not cooked.
Applebees is always been bad, I’ve always known it the one in McAllen Texas I’ve literally throwing up after eating at, and anytime I figure well they can’t be that bad still I don’t know why I’m surprised when they still suck. I don’t really care for the chain restaurants such as Applebees and chilis but if I had the option chilis would definitely be the lesser of two evils.
I do not recommend this place late night I do not recommend this place daytime there is a reason why it’s usually empty. The staff needs to get more on their game be a little more friendly at least act like you care about what you do. The management needs to be on top of their staff and not let them provide less than mediocre service. Now if they had just one thing bad bad service or bad food maybe you don’t worth trying. Lately it’s just send nasty and not worth the trip.
If you’re into mediocre food there are other bad places out there this place is definitely not worth your money maybe this location has been one of the worst ones I’ve ever been to but the whole concept and chain needs a whole makeover.
I’m sure someone will convince me in a few years to try Applebees. As I have my doubts about them and the success of the company or the success of this location I really hope they can try and do something better than they have been its pretty bad.

Met up with 2 buddy’s from work. Was trying to suggest somewhere else (because of a previous experience at another location) but they had already made up their mind. I met them at one of the bar tables and they had just ordered queso. The waitress was less than cordial but maybe it was a bad day for her? They skimped on the chips and then the salsa bowl wasn’t much larger than a shot glass. The chips we did get tasted stale and refried. I’ve worked in kitchens before and am familiar with the process so I know what refried/​recycled chips taste like. Then I ordered the sampler platter. The marinara sauce for the cheese sticks came in a porcelain thimble. The quesadillas had ham (wtf???) and the spinach artichoke dip already had the skin formed on the top like it had been sitting for a while. Not only that but our waitress didn’t bring us any appetizer plates for either of our orders so I had to go ask another waitress for some (she got a tip for it). It felt like we were on the set of a bad National Lampoon movie. Servers looking wore out and longing to be elsewhere… Several hours later my coworker threw up twice and my insides turned into an Olympic speed «Applebees Ap-​poo-​tizer» luge. In a way, the experience provided me an effective colon cleanse but I imagine there are healthier options for that. Double-​FAIL!
Oh yeah and it was 8pm and all the parking lot lights were out. CLASSY!

Been here one time a couple of years ago and had a sandwich of theirs. It was pretty bad, one of the worst sandwiches I’ve had in my entire life. It was messy and the sandwich was literally crumbling apart. They put too much inside the sandwich, and it didn’t taste very good. Not sure if I should try out anything else of theirs due to my dislike of their sandwich. The interior looked nice tho’; had a fancy look to it.

I am from California, and most of the Applebee’s around seem run down and dirty, this Applebee’s was clean, inviting, and a breath of fresh air. The staff was extremely nice and accommodating, felt comfortable and welcomed. WILL BE COMING THROUGH AGAIN, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

How did I end up here on a Saturday night? Oh yah, my out-​of-​town friend wanted to do a meetup with several Austin friends in a convenient place. BecauseI love my friend, I will follow him anywhere… even if it means this mediocre chain.
I had a skinny margarita which was decent but lacked the alcohol. My boyf had a red sangria that was overly sweet and lacked any hint of red wine; so on his 2^nd drink order he got a white sangria and it literally tasted like a cherry limeade with maybe a splash of wine. We asked if the bartender could just throw a splash of white wine on top, they said «no» but said they could just take the drink back, so we sent it back. yuck.
The group ordered several appetizers which were of the generic fried variety and didn’t offer anything exciting.
I would choose Chili’s over Applebee’s because at least Chili’s has that SKILLET QUESO.
I was sad we spent $ 13 on drinks that were below average but at least there was good conversation. Thank goodness for that.
