Aps Child Development

My daughter was enrolled at this daycare for little over a year. During that time there were a few small things that caused me to raise my eyebrows and question the way the daycare was run. Four weeks ago the daycare posted a heath alert stating that a couple of the kids had gone home with SCABIES. I checked my daughter over and she was fine. What I did not know is that scabies lies dormant under the skin for 3 weeks before any signs or symptoms appear. She began itching and developing a severe rash all over her body. Surprise, surprise, the doctor diagnosed her with scabies. Now I am not an unreasonable person and I understand that kids are going to get sick. However, when I tried to do the right thing and let the director know that she had scabies, he began speaking to me very rudely and said that now I have infected his establishment. He denied ever having an infestation in the first place. When I tried to point out that a month ago they had issued a health alert for scabies, he tried to make up some story to cover for it.
I have also been told by my daughter and other children that the teachers encourage the kids to physically fight out their disagreements and often times have the children get in a circle to watch the fights. When ever I have had issues with the daycare in the past and gone to the director about it, he always has the attitude of «what now?!?»
My daughter came home a few months ago and told me that she was terrified of police officers. When I asked her why, she told me that the teachers threatened to call the police and have the entire class arrested because they wouldn’t sit down and listen. For over a month, whenever we would go places and see a police officer, paramedic or fire fighter, she would start to cry and start yelling that she didn’t want to go to jail. When I asked the director about it, he stated that none of his teachers would ever say something like that to the kids.
This daycare is open from 7 am to midnight, which means that they provide breakfast, lunch, snack and dinner. Increasingly the past few weeks, my daughter comes home starving and eats an entire meal. After talking with other kids and some of the teachers I found out that they simply aren’t making enough food to feed all of the kids. They used to only have about 10 kids at night, now its more like 30. The cook makes food for dinner and puts it in the refrigerator where the other teachers will go and take some. So not only are they not making enough food for the kids, but then the teachers are going in and eating the food made for the kids.
The classrooms are filthy. The kids will vomit, urinate and deficate on the carpets and all they do is spray lysol on it. Children’s clothes, diapers and wipes are stolen. The playground equipment is not safe. Not too long ago a child fell off of the merry go round and lost 4 teeth because she was too big to be playing on it and the teachers said nothing. When it is time for out side play, the teachers congregate together with their backs mostly to the kids, so there is no real supervision.
Not all of the teachers at this daycare are bad. There are a couple of teachers there that really care, but for the most part it seems like its just a means to a paycheck for most of them. Bottom line is that before you decide to put your child in this daycare, you need to really look into this daycare. I will freely admit that I should have pulled my child out of there long ago. Please don’t make the same mistakes that I did.
UPDATE: Since I posted this yesterday, I have heard that at least one other child also has a suspected case of scabies and that they have probably had it for over a week. I think it is kind of funny that the director claims that the center has never had it when there is one confirmed case and at least one other suspected case. PLEASE RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN FROM THIS PLACE!

THIEVES!!! Parked across the street from this «child development» center??? Right, some old guy comes out yelling at me because I had the nerve to park on a public street so my 11 year old daughter and I could got to the UT baseball game on 6÷12÷2010.
My window was slightly open as we went into the game, I get home after the game to see that my 11 year old daughters softball bag had been taken out of our car. Now mind you, this guy didn’t come up to me and ask to park somewhere else.
He got up in my face, was calling me Mother Fer this and dropping F bombs and called me a sexual derogatory name that starts with a F. I called the owner on Mon. 6÷14÷2010 and he says, oh I told him he shouldn’t talk to people like that, but he is just some guy who mows the yards around here, he doesn’t work here.
So I drive over to the place, park my car and get out and who do I see in the back yard of this place with the kids, that’s right, the same jerk who verbally abused my daughter and I. He sees me get out of my car and comes right back up to me telling me that he was talking to me nice before. I told him he should not be talking/​screaming at people like that in front of kids/​my daughter, he says, I bet you have your daughter trained, I know how you «Mexicans» are, you’re always trying to get something free.
I then talk to the owner/​person in charge, I take one look at him and realize that he was the guy standing right there in front of us on that Friday when this guy was yelling and dropping F Bombs, I asked him why didn’t say anything to the guy when it was happening, he says, I didn’t know what was going on. REALLY he saw the whole thing form the start.
These people are LIARS and THIEVES I would NEVER take my kids to a place that associates with people that act like this in front of children. My daughter had to play a softball tournament the next day with borrowed equipment, thanks a lot JERKS!
