I’ve taken guitar lessons for a long time and Josh was the first instructor in Austin who I really clicked with. He is a personable and dedicated young man. Josh insures his lessons are tailored to each students needs and abilities. I highly recommend Josh as a first class guitar instructor.

If you want to learn everything about the guitar and music in general, Josh is your teacher. He is very patient with you and knows the pace you need to be on. Josh is unique in that he focuses on the songs that you want to learn. He will quickly learn the songs that you want to learn and will write them out for you and teach you to read them, step by step. In the way he explains the concepts of the guitar, you will be able to figure out many things on your own. He will tell you what you’re doing wrong and help you fix it. He’s very encouraging and doesn’t let you say «I can’t». It’s more like Hey, hey, what can I do!

A friend recommended lessons with Josh and we couldn’t be happier. Josh is incredibly patient and encouraging with our son, who is quite reserved. He takes the time to break down and simplify tasks when our son has questions and he pays attention to details. Our son didn’t know how to read music and had never played any other instrument and Josh makes it easy and fun for him. We would highly recommend Josh for both beginners and more advanced students.

Been a student of Josh’s for a few months now and feel very fortunate to have found him. His attention to detail, continuity between sessions, and obvious broad knowledge base are a few of the elements making this a very rewarding learning experience. I am learning to read music, understand music theory, and develop technique. I have been taking guitar lessons from Josh for about 5 months now, and I couldn’t be happier! From day 1, Josh asked what I wanted to take away from guitar lessons and has continued to focus on what I want to do rather than a set curriculum. We work on the songs I want to play and after just a few short months, I have already learned a handful of songs. Josh has a passion for teaching unlike anyone I’ve met and he has gone above and beyond my expectations. I highly recommend him to anyone interested in learning to play or anyone who wants to better their guitar playing skills.

Josh has been a wonderful teacher to our son, who started lessons when he was 7 and is now 9 years old. Not only is Josh great with kids, but he allows our son to choose some of his own music — and takes the time to find it and writes out the sheet music for us! — but he also trains on technique and has him playing some of the more classical songs that are good to learn. Josh wants to ensure that playing the guitar is a fun experience and not a ‘chore’ for his students. He also comes to the house, which is a big bonus for us!

My son has been taking guitar lessons with Josh (ATX Guitar) for over a year. He loves it and has learned so much. He is reading music and even coming up with his own melodies now. Josh has taught him a lot. He had a recital and this was a great experience for him. Not only that but I think the lessons have increased his love of music. He now plays the guitar for fun and not only to practice.
