Really? You can’t get off the phone to greet your customer? If not, can you smile at me, acknowledge that I entered the store? And…then…not really have merchandise to look at? Eh.

I’ve had several prints framed at Avenue Gallery, all with nice results. Narda is easy to work with and the turn-around time was short. You’re obviously going to pay more than you would at Michael’s, etc., but the prices seem reasonable for a true custom framer and you can feel good supporting a local business to boot!

This gallery features the beautiful black and white photography of local artist Kip Holm, and he has some incredible and eerie photos of the Austin area, his cat, lots of sky shots… Also some intense photos of horses… really super work that ranges from $ 75-$ 225 unframed. Avenue Gallery does also specialize in framing. One stop shop, if you’re lucky enough to be able to afford it(and I think it’s worth it). Staff kind of, sort of not all there when you want attentive service… and the collection of gifts, etc. not all that inspiring. Worth checking out for Kip Holm’s work. He’s a find. tp://www.kipholm.com/pages/PP58.html

Avenue Gallery is nestled in between Uncommon Objects and Yard Dog Folk Art on the infamous vintage/antique strip in SoCo. There is not much to say about this quaint little shop. Long and narrow, it is part gallery, part custom framing store. The B/W framed photography is amusing and captures life accurately, but it’s pricey. The limited supply of random gifts and trinkets is also pricey.(Think jewelry, candles, stationary, home décor.) I can’t comment on the framing, but I would guess it’s not cheap, as it is custom and seems to be their main focus. Their jewelry boxes, however, are absolutely beautiful and may be worth the stiff ticket. Possibly worth a quick stop.
