I love Abe Young’s Beyond Words Writing Workshops. They are a high point of my week.
Abe has a gentle, comforting energy and provides a warm, supportive atmosphere for her writers to grow and be challenged. Abe usually starts with a check-in, then a poem that inspires a number of writing prompts. Then we are given 45 minutes to write, and we have the option to share our writing with the group. She also provides tea and snacks!
The last few weeks of the session are set aside for feedback on longer pieces of writing you may be working on outside of the workshop. This is not a critique group per se, but it is a chance to share your work and receive general feedback.
I highly recommend Abe’s workshops for any poet or prose writer who is seeking a safe and supportive place to share work and be inspired.
