The employees here, both sales and in the service area, are friendly and helpful. I bought a used bike off Craigslist that I was told was in pretty good shape and just needed a tune up. I brought it to the shop here and they could have completely taken me for a ride («Hi, I don’t know anything about bikes, what does this need done? HALP.»), but they didn’t. They confirmed that all it needed was a tuneup.
I keep coming back to buy all kinds of little stuff, and they’re always friendly, and they install everything I buy for free, no matter how little it costs (bell, basket, etc.) I don’t know if this is standard at all bike shops, but I really appreciate it.

This used to be a great locally owned tri shop with incredible customer service. It was purchased by an out of town company and has slowly become a mediocre bike shop. It lacks in any kind of local feel, has an increasingly limited selection and is just kind of blah. I’d consider on of the local bike or tri shops that are within walking distance of this place.

I just made my first bike purchase at Jack and Adams, and after 2 hours of thorough sizing, adjustment and test riding I walked out with the perfect bike! Will took the time to make me feel 100% comfortable on my bike and I felt extremely confident with all of his recommendations. This shop is great!

Confession: I do not know how to ride a bike. «It’s like riding a bike» is not a phrase I ever connected with. But I love swimming and running, and sprint triathlons are something I want to participate in. So, I need a bike.
I heard a lot of good things about Jack and Adam’s, so I went there to learn some things and get fitted. The salesperson laughed when I asked about training wheels, but I don’t think he understood how uncomfortable I am on a bike. There was a thorough fitting, and we went out to «test ride» it in the parking lot. There was a lot of patience and helpful hints for areas where I was struggling. Pedaling? Easy. Turns? Meh. Getting started? Impossible. Although I’m an adult, the salesman played the role of my dad, and I was his 8 year old daughter. He held the bike for me to help me balance and then lied about still holding on.
I didn’t leave the store with the bike because I’m not yet confident enough to know if bicycling will be in my future. However, I did leave with the tools to get started. I can now buy a used bike that fits right and start practicing on something that I don’t mind dinging up a bit. When I’m ready to upgrade, I will definitely be going to Jack and Adam’s. Seriously, fantastic service.

Ok a little update. I went back in this past weekend for an event they were having. They were much better staffed and people were welcoming.

Bad expirence with there service department. I came in bc my bike was not shifting gears. They told me that it would take 92.00 bucks to fix it but after I pay the money the bike l. Had the same problem. I asked did anyone ride the bike first wich they said yes. All they had to do was tell me they cannot fix the bike and I would have understood. I went there to get my bike fixed I would have paid top dollar to do it but my bike is still not fixed. My time has been wasted my time valuable now I am at one of their competors down the street.

Great staff, knowledgeable and non-​pretentious. One of the better shops in town!

I’ve recently fallen in love with spinning and decided to get serious with it by getting myself a pair of shoes. I ordered online and didn’t have the tools to install the cleats so I called around for rates. One store quoted me $ 20 (!?), J&A’s charged nothing — zilch!
Once I entered the store I was immediately greeted and offered help. They took my shoes and within minutes cleats were attached, free of charge. I was so impressed by the quick and friendly service I felt obliged to buy a top. (A cute one that was just begging to be purchased.) Now this is a great example of how establishments should earn their business… shower customers with amazing attention that they just HAVE to buy something from the store. Bravo! I’ll be back to get me some of those booty shorts!

I bought my first bike in years at Jack & Adam’s a few months ago, having just moved downtown. They were so helpful and knowledgeable in advising on which bike would be best for what I needed, a Felt Café 7. I know they work with much more serious cyclists than me, but I never felt any less important to them. Whenever I go back to add or adjust something on the bike, the staff is always attentive and friendly. This place is great.

I came to Jack and Adam’s recently and they were an overall great business. The staff was very helpful and answered and assisted in all my questions. Best bike shop in Austin!

I would not go anywhere else for biking needs!

Simply put, Jack and Adam’s are great. My daughter purchased a GPS watch from them for my birthday. Neither she nor I knew anything about them and after I tried setting it up I found that it was specifically set up for running and I do not/​cannot run but am an avid cyclist.. I called the South Lamar store and told them the situation and that I had already set up and used the original one for a day. They said no problem, bring it in and we’ll see what we can do. I went in and they looked up the invoice and within five minutes I had paid a very modest upgrade charge for the Multi-​Sport model and was on my way with the new one in hand. Everyone was very helpful and went out of their way to make the whole exchange process very pleasant.

LOVED them — I am a 50 year old single woman who assembled her Diamondback bike herself and needed some adjustments. Victor in service was so nice and didn’t laugh when he saw I assembled from front wheel on backwards. He gave my bike a GREAT once over and helped me out tremendously Everyone else working there was AMAZING and helpful. I am surrounded by bike shops living off of 6^th but have found my new home. They even helped get my bike out of my car and back in — true gentlemen! Thanks Pay Pal for helping me discover them.

I have bought 2 bicycles from this store over the past 4 years. They are consistently customer focused and always stand behind their products. I will continue supporting this fantastic bike shop.

I’ve recently been to Jack and Adams more in the past few weeks than I have ever been my whole life. BUT J&A’s is amazing, and they have become my favorite! I’ve joined Gilbert’s Gazelles and we meet at J&A’s all the time. Not only do we meet there, we shop there, we ask for advice, we get fitted for shoes, we buy nutrition… It’s endless. The staff is SO wonderful, and the owners are ALWAYS there. You have faces with these names, and they start to remember you.
J&A’s also has the LOWEST mark up I have ever seen. I bought a pair of socks for 11 $ there vs the 14 $ they were at Lukes (Yes, I buy 14 $ socks. Don’t judge) So J&A’s is the place to purchase all your sporting needs. You really can’t ask for anything else!

Needed help with a multi– sport watch, worked with Mike and he was awesome. He went over and beyond our expectations. We will return to jack & Adams for future purchases.

There are some awesome people in the triathlon community. The folks at J&A are some of the best. Whether your starting out and want to get geared y up for your first tri, or your a veteran that’s looking for a high end item to shave a few seconds these guys will help you out. Their staff is knowledgeable and have solutions to meet every budget. I’ve been going there for years and have never once felt pressured to buy something I didn’t need.

Fun staff, solid selection. Every time I walk in there’s someone to greet me. My visits here are efficient because the team is knowledgable about the products they sell.
Prices are very competitive. I did a quick comparison the other day on some DeSoto Tri shorts and after taxes and shipping they were within $ 2 of the price on Amazon (retail price was around $ 119).
They offer a decent overall discount for joining their Tri/​Multisport club.
Biggest headache is the parking situation at the new store. I’ve just started to run or bike there to avoid the hassle.

Not a bad word to say about this place!
I am visiting Austin for work and brought my bike for some exercise while I am here. The first time I hopped on it, I heard a creaking/​cracking sound coming from either the handlebars or crank. With very few tools, I decided to take it to Jack & Adams. I expected them to want to keep it for at least a day to look at it… not the case! Javier immediately took it for a spin. Upon returning, he pulled apart the head, greased the bearings and took apart the crank and cleaned/​lubed all parts. He worked on it for about 45 mins. After all was said and done, it worked perfectly! At the register, I was charged only $ 20! I was floored.
Incredible service and excellent prices! Oh yeah, the free beer they had on tap was a nice plus as well!
