Blackbird Clothes & Curios

I visit this boutique whenever I’m in the area, i really love stopping in to check out new items… especially the jewelry. I like the selections, they’re always very feminine with a little bit of edge.
I’ve purchased clothing and earrings from here before and they’re all very fairly priced! The store is small and cozy and the owner is friendly

I have a lot of love for this little boutique. It stocks quirky and sophisticated wearable goods for folks who like to wear black or who err on the edgy side for fashion. I didn’t look very hard at the clothes, but I was drawn to the accessories.
The jewelry is probably my favorite feature of the store; elegant, lovingly handmade, and at prices that are extremely reasonable. Much of the jewelry is handmade by the owner. Can’t get more local than that!
Also, there were some adorable tiny dogs behind the counter. How cool!

Blackbird is a cute boutique in the midst of a stretch of vintage stores. My friend and I happened to walk by and found the slightly old, slightly steampunk window decorations and decided to go in. I assumed it would be vintage because the items in the window did have that look to them but walking in we found out it was the opposite. It is a small store but packed a lot of great new jewelry, accessories, and clothing.
A lot of the jewelry looked to be handmade. Big long earrings, plastic necklaces, gaudy diamond necklaces and bracelets. I found a pair of pink plastic pistols for $ 8. What a steal! The clothing was fun and flirty but sans color. Lot of black and gray. The clothing sizes ranged from small to larger sizes for the full figured woman. Practically anyone can purchase an outfit here.
The sales woman was friendly enough I suppose. She did seem more occupied with putting out new items then helping us but work is work.
Blackbird is a store I would like to visit again when I’m in town to see what new things they have.

Best kept secret in Austin! I love this place, great, fun, creative clothing at a reasonable price.
The owner and her little amigo/​s are too cute. It is a friendly, beautifully decorated shop on the north loop.
The owners/​buyers have a great eye for items that are artistic and well made, good quality and unique.
So refreshing to go into a store in Austin that is not a chain, or over priced boutique store.
Multi generational clothing, parking is usually good and not typically crowded.

Cute and affordable stuff, friendly staff/​owners, and LARGER SIZES, TOO! Sorry to yell, but that’s a rare thing and it bears a shout (out)! This place is bunnies and rainbows.

Love, love, love, love, LOVE this place! Everything in the store is just fabulous & the two girls who own it are the sweetest people ever. I’m just sad that I can’t afford to go there as much as I’d like. Ok, that’s a lie. I go there all the time. I just can’t always afford to buy everything I want. Not that it’s overpriced, because that couldn’t be further from the truth. Their prices are amazingly affordable… but I want it ALL!!!

You know what… I almost hate myself for reviewing this store. Because it’s amazing, but it’s also affordable, the latter of which just can’t last if everyone finds out how amazing it is. But it deserves to be a big time boutique. *Sigh* I know, support your local business, yadda yadda, so FINE, here I go…
Last Sunday we drove by this store on the way to a nearby record place. It was funky, interesting from the outside, so very… AUSTIN. And it’s exactly the same way on the inside. Clothes for men and women, accessories, jewelry and some curios. I admit… this women’s clothing isn’t really designed for, well, let’s just say my abundant womanly attributes, but they’re so original, gorgeous and so fairly priced, it literally pains me to have to pass on them. But I immediately grabbed a card from the owner so I could pass it along to friends (let’s face it, there’s rep cache in being a «first to find» with the gal pals).
The jewelry, well, it’s darling dah’ling. Funky, eclectic, I found that most of the stuff I kept pointing to and ooh’ing over made the owner smile as they inevitably were the pieces she had made. Even the spouse got into it, gifting me with a pair of earrings that even he thought were unique: tiny little cuckoo clock dangling earrings. I also bought for my typically hard-​to-​please, artsy but anti-​girly-​girl 13-​year old niece a necklace that she loved.
The only thing I would change is that I wish the store would offer more of the interesting little decorative home items. Judging by their clothing and jewelry tastes, let alone the design of the store, the owners would no doubt supply some seriously amazing conversation-​starting décor.
I also enjoyed talking to the lady who helped us that day, the part-​owner and designer. Very charming, happy to answer our million questions about the store. Honestly one of those people that makes you think, «Damn, I want to be that cool. God I’m boring!»

Saw this place while visiting Phara’s. I checked it out yesterday with some time to kill before HH. It’s small but well stocked with all kinds of goodies, from sunglasses to studded skirts, from handbags to hair clips. They have cool jewelry, some that looked vintage and some that the co-​owner makes herself. There was a sexy pair of skull earrings that almost convinced me to have my ears pierced finally. They also have some nice button downs for men that are coolly casual, most in the $ 30 range. Very cute store!
I like how this area is growing up, with this place opening alongside the Tigress Pub and Foreign and Domestic down the street. This is becoming your one-​stop shopping for anything from growing lights to vintage furniture to dild, er, marital aids. What more could you need?

I was at Room Service and HOLY SHIT saw something new across the street. I have never really understood why there are so many vacant spots in these awesome buildings, but I’m glad to see the trend reversing.
I went in with my lady mainly out of curiosity, expecting to find a few things that she didn’t like enough to pay for. What I wasn’t expecting was guy’s clothes that I actually liked. What they offer is, I don’t know, classy casual, nicer clothes that you don’t have to suffer to wear. For men this is a lot of button downs with interesting patterns and subtle ornate touches.
What really surprised me was the price. I don’t think I found anything in the men’s section over $ 40. Said lady had similar luck, and we walked out with a new shirt and a new dress for around $ 80.
The owner was incredibly sweet and had two adorable chihuahuas that she was kind enough to let us fawn over.
All in all, I’m a fan, and happy to have a store besides Service Menswear and Stag to visit every now and then.
