Great place to hang with friends for a quiet/not so quiet night. Have a few drinks and the queso and sit back and enjoy the ride. The waitress DeDe is a character and helpful with drink options.

Love, love, LOVE, the live music. No cover. Not too thrilled with the wait staff AND the drinks. I order the same drink at every bar I go to, and for some reason, the drinks here tastes like sh*t. Last Sunday I tried 1 of their specials — Long Island… Still tasted like horrible. So did my husband’s drink,(vodka 7). The bartenders — omg — RUDE! Every frikin time we go there! Not even simple manners,(thanks, you’re welcome… Nothing) We left torn … We want to come back because of the music, but hate the drinks and staff… What to do?!

I so much wanted this place to be good, and it really does have potential. Ate there twice(out of necessity) both times we found the food to be not very palatable. Fries were over, over, over salted. Nacho chips, were soggy with oil. Hamburger, was plain no flavor. However, the staff was nice, and the beer was cheap(could have been a bit colder) Has live music every night from 10 to 1am. When the ban is playing it can be very loud.

Great place. Friendly wait staff and awesome live music. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a laid back spot to chill, have a drink, grab some food and hear some seriously awesome live music. I went there last Wedensday and they had open mic night and then a great band, lots of fun, will come back again!

Loud, drunken, and obnoxious… in other words fun. Word to the wise, be careful crossing the parking lot at closing time, a little too much muchesmo with the brake torques and burning rubber showing off for the ladies. I was there on 7÷28÷15 and had a good time

Strange vibe here. We walked in and there were poker tables all over. Weird. Older crowd.

*sigh*. I love, love a good dive bar with old country and colorful patrons. But this place was bad. It’s clean, the waitstaff is nice, but there is only one waitress for 30 people, mine and my roommates order was completely wrong, and one of my drinks was actually made without alcohol. Then there was the«Our Cesar salad is supposed to be made with spinach instead of iceberg. «no ma’am. That’s a lie. It a shame that this place didn’t work out. I won’t be back. Also, I liked the cover singer but his music was way too loud and when the waitstaff tried to turn him down he threw a fit.

It’s been a few months but we’ve been here for 45 minutes and nobody has offered to serve us… thought we’d wait it out and see how long it takes. We could’ve had drinks and food, I suppose we don’t really want it if they don’t care to serve us.

This was the closest bar to my rental in Austin. I quickly walked over when I saw their large list of local draught beers, including the awesome 512 Pecan Porter. The Blue Moon Bar & Grill is attached to the Best Western, but it feels like a typical suburban bar & grill with a bit more of a pulse. They have a standard interior dining room and bar with a large covered outdoor patio. It was a slow night, but I can imagine the place hopping with live music and a crowded floor. The beer was cold and served well. I did not try any food, but the typical options were gladly enjoyed by my neighbors at the bar. TV are everywhere which made watching the NBA playoffs more interesting. Blue Moon seems like a great neighborhood bar with a kick. I am glad I found it.

We had a new server the other night and while he was super cute and personable, the bar was running slow so our food got to our table before our drinks did. The food was good for what it was — burgers and fries… I might try it again food wise. The beer, however was good. I had a seasonal blue moon which was pretty yummy.

I have been staying at the adjacent hotel for years and have always enjoyed ending the night at the Blue Moon restaurant and bar. ALYSON on the bar is awesome, she always remembers your favorite drinks and preferences. Excellent customer service and an extensive menu of burgers, salads and appetizers. Great comfort food at any time of the day. You can’t go wrong here, I highly recommend this establishment for your enjoyment. Always great live entertainment & music and no cover charge. This is a typical Austin come as you are fun place.

Very good live band. Food was great, I had a grilled chicken sandwich done western style(bbq sauce, cheddar, bacon, and onion rings) with Cajun spiced fries… Total came to about 9 bucks. It was served on a fresh bun and was really tasty,. I would return for this. Beers are priced for a motel/hotel demographic… Slightly higher(4.50 for domestic pint) than most of the area This place will never be confused for some divey juke joint, it is absolutely in the same building as a motel and it feels like it. All the chairs and tables are similar to convention style, in my opinion they should dirty it up a bit… But that’s just me… My real problem with this place is what I witnessed when someone on the wagon ordered a coke in a real glass(not the plastic cup offered) … The bartender declined and said glasswear is reserved for full price alcohol customers…, the guy quietly mentioned that he was in ‘the program’ and sitting with a few drinkers and politely asked again if he can be served in similar glasswear… Again the bartender declined. That sucks!

My friend thought he was being funny when he said this seemed like my kind of bar and suggested we meet there to grab a catch-up drink together… but really, it is my kind of bar. Cheap drinks, good people watching. There are events pretty often here so I’d check into those before you just show up. The night I was there turned into quite the party as they had a DJ and crazy cheap drink specials. We didn’t stay for the ultimate excitement since we were just grabbing a couple of drinks around HH time, but I could tell it was going to be a packed house by the end of the night. I’d love to go see some of the live bands that play here and will definitely go back!

One of my favorite places to go. Very chill place for friends and families to get together. Food is not bad but I love the music. If you’re into Blues then this is the place for you.

The food was fantastic. The service was a little slow at first, but then the pace got picked up. I had the Gr Chicken Sandwich, buffalo style, cajun fries & corn cob. The sandwich was easy to eat as it was not slathered in buffalo sauce. Just the right amount, fries crispy & delicious. We also had the Queso with beef added. Generous portion of gr beef, queso was ok, chips were nice & crispy. I will be back again, & order take out as well.

This place is attached to the hotel I am staying at and seemed like a no brainer for bar snacks and some drinks. I came in at about 8:00 on a Wednesday and waited a good 5 min for a beer. The bartender let me know that when we sat she’d send one of the waitresses out to take out food order. After 15 min of waiting we had already decided to forgo our food purchase. Another 15 min later a waitress came out to check on us. We told her we were fine as we’d decided to go elsewhere after finishing our libations. Bottom line — I was starving, before coming here and am now leaving starving with a bad taste in my mouth. I will be staying next door all week and would prefer going to the gas station next door for snacks rather than trying this bar and«grill» ever again.

Blues Jam!!! The staff here are always friendly, and the patrons are as well. It’s just an all around nice place, with food and drinks. A good place to enjoy a beer, watch a game and hang out with friends. Also great for the weekly blues jams on Thursdays and Sundays. I’m taking classes with Ted Hall and have done a few songs in the blues jam, and everyone at this bar is supportive. There are some world class musicians who perform here, too. Literally. Some of these musicians have toured and performed all over the world. It’s a gem.

We stumbled into this bar attached to the hotel we were staying at for Fun Fun Fun Fest. And I’m so glad that we did! There was some amazing live blues going on in there, and the crowd was truly having a good time. The drinks were reasonable and the beer selection decent. It was real chill and a great place to have a nighcap and unwind.

I love this place so much, I wish I could rent a ROOM! Well, actually ya CAN; Blue Moon Bar & Grill’s located in the Best Western, N.W. corner of Oltorf & S. I-35. But I don’t have time to sleep anyway. Apparently, it’s the same Blue Moon that used to be on 6th. St; I never went to that location. I don’t «do» 6th St. much anymore. Between the tourists(bad enough) & the college students«learning ta get drunk»(worse), it’s not the same as it used to be. Judging from pictures posted from Blue Moon’s 6th St days, looks like it was kinda wild. As a former cabbie & currently(still) Musician, I’ve dealt with my share of drunk UT and Texas State students. I’d like to teach a class to them; It’s called: «Drunk101: How to NOT be so FRIGGIN’ IRRITATING». There’d also be a special segment dedicated to PROPERPUKINGETIQUETTE. First two rules, DON’T puke in the CAB, & try to avoid puking ONYOUROWNFEET. Though I must admit, the latter is very amusing to watch! BTW, whoever posted that Blue Moon’s in «SoCo»(gag) or Bouldin Creek areas musta been the«drunk one» at the bar; it’s close to NEITHER. Even if it WERE, can we PLEASE just say«South Congress»? «SoCo» makes ME wanna puke! This AIN’T New York City; we don’t need to «trend it up». OK? OK! I’d call it as being on the«fringe» of Travis Heights. But just go to the location described above and you’ll find it. Seems like Blue Moon’s a little classier than it was than in its previous Downtown life. Don’t get me wrong; it’s a CASUAL atmosphere, leave the suit & tie at home. It’s a great place to have a quiet drink with your significant other; bar staff’s quick & courteous(maybe a lil’ light with the cocktail napkins; I had to keep asking for one). The food is GREAT! They’re open late, until 2:00AM every night. I’m not sure how late the kitchen’s open; you’re on yer own there. Standard Bar fare: Apps, Burgers, and Sandwiches(salads too). Prices: Reasonable, & I’d disagree with the overall two«$» rating Unilocalers have bestowed. If you have an entrée & a Coke or Tea, you’re lookin’ right at $ 10, excl tip(you’d BETTERTIP). So let’s call it ONE«$», unless you’re drinking a lot. And please DO. I totally agree with my Unilocalfriend, Ed; they’re very UNDEPENDABLE when it comes to finding out what nights they have Live Music, even if you DO get a live person on the phone, & the website is wrong too. I’ll tell ya what I know, & that’s all I can do. They have a great stage for music, & decent sound system. I don’t know what goes on EVERY night, but I’d encourage you to come on out on SUNDAYS and THURSDAYS; that’s when Ted Hall hosts his now-legendary«Blues Church» Jam. Having made the rounds at various venues all over Austin, and holding«services» for over 20 years now, it’s the BESTOPENMICBLUESJAM in Austin, BARNONE! If you’re a fan of the Blues, and wanna see some great players, you need to be here on Thursdays and Sundays. And, CALLINGALLMUSICIANS! If you’re a player, you REALLY need to be here! It’s not«clique-ish», like some Jams I’ve been to; you don’t have to «know someone» in order to get up and play. If you’re a player, Ted will make SURE you get your stage time! Guitar/Bass players, suggest bringing yer own Axe. Of course, drum kit is available, & there’s a good chance be a keyboard will be there, for the«ivory-ticklers». Newcomers are always welcome; the more the MERRIER! Be forewarned: This is a BLUES Jam; it may stray a little bit away from the 12-Bar, «¼/5» structure, but Ted takes the Blues very seriously, & has a fairly strict interpretation of what Blues«is», & what it «isn’t». Suffice to say, check yer Metallica & Aerosmith licks at the door. Sorry if that’s limiting; after all, it only leaves ya with around a HUNDREDYEARS of material to choose from. I can’t help ya out as far as the other nights go, but suffice to say if it’s on Blue Moon’s stage, it’s gonna be a quality act. Just call ahead and ask questions. Bottom Line: Blue Moon Bar & Grill is a great place to have a casual drink, Pub(food) fare, and absolutely the BEST Blues Open Mic Jam in Austin. I’d also like to ask that you please TIPTHEBANDGENEROUSLY! And no, I’m NOT a House Band member, just a «regular» who thinks they deserve to be supported. They play their ASSES off! Please check out Blue Moon Bar & Grill, and bring a friend, or twelve! larrythediner .

We are the people our parents warned us about. And, yes, as some of the reviews mention, this venue, thankfully, draws an older crowd. Maybe that means I’ve lived long enough to know good music when I hear it. But, hey, we can all enjoy the music at Blue Moon. If you like blues and southern rock, you will be at home here. We came on a Thursday night to see Travis Green and his band. Damn that boy can sing, his lead guitarist is outstanding, and, well his entire band has big talents! Travis belted out timeless songs made famous by artists such as Johnny Cash, Mitch Ryder, and Elvis as well as his own melodious and spirited compositions. Our group of five sang and danced around our table and had a great time. One nice surprise for several of us was Dexter. He is here Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights polishing and shining shoes and boots. I had my scratched and worn Lucchese boots on and Dexter did them up right. They look like new. Too pretty to wear on 6th Street so I’m leaving them in the closet for a while. Blue Moon beer is always on tap here along with other beer, wine and cocktails. The shot menu is something to behold and there is no cover. So come on down on Thursday or Saturday for Travis Green and wear your scuffed boots for Dexter.
