Very nice, and insightful but a little too dramatic for me. I am more into spiritual angels, cleansing, and have a belief in many religions as I am not of just one faith, I have my own and that works for me. I wont be coming back here but that is my personal preference as the experience was not for me and felt that that I was trying to be scared into buying products for fear of being influenced by the devil(which I am not, you just have to know me to confirm that). I believe that he is intuitive, just on a different level than I am, we all have our beliefs and sensitivities… thats what makes us unique individuals. I will not give a bad review because it wasnt for me, but I would recommend visiting if you are looking for something like this shop.

I’ve been to Botanica Oggun, and I have to say I’m not impressed. The caretakers are seemingly more interested in in selling you ‘blessed’ or ‘empowered’ kernals of corn in ziploc bags than actually helping you with any specific needs. Beware of Botanica Oggun… I think they might be trying to pull one over on you.

Are you a gullible simpleton willing to spend money on useless trinkets to scare away imaginary demons? If so, come on down! I’m a pretty hardcore atheist, so whenever ‘spirituality’ is on the table, I’m usually pretty skeptical. Botanica Oggun did not manage to shake my firm belief– that most ‘spiritual’ remedies are pretty much just snake oil. Four dollars for a tiny bag of corn kernels? What’s that you say? They’re magic??? Man, let me trade you my families cow! I’ve changed my review to a 1 star to counteract all the obviously FAKE5 star reviews. Keep Austin Weird? Not if the business in question abuses Unilocal to boost their rank.

My 100th review! I wanted to save my 100th review for somewhere special, so I bring you my review of Botanica Oggun. This is a relatively new Botanica in Austin, a town with surprisingly few, if any, others. I was attracted to it by the gorgeous mural on the side of the building on the corner of Live Oak and South 1st. I knew I had to go in when I first saw it. This is a traditional Botanica which sells candles, oils, herbs, incense, homemade soaps and other items to help you on your spiritual quest or to deal with the obstacles life puts in your path. Mike, the proprietor, is a gifted priest in his religion who received his studies from masters in Cuba. He offers cleansings and consultations at reasonable fees. He and his wife run a friendly and very special place here. If you have any inclinations along this road, check it out!
