I was referred to Dr. Briggs several years ago by my PCP. I thought she was fine to begin with. She spent an average amount of time with me and had decent communication skills. However, I went off a medication and had a bad outcome and I notified her office and I never got a personal follow-up call from the doctor. Since then I have seen other doctors who have followed up with me over the phone over various matters. Dr. Briggs didn’t even request I come in to see her. This rubbed me the wrong way because I was a little traumatized by the experience. So a couple years go by and I decide to go back for a follow-up to discuss switching medications. I gave the office my new insurance information before I set foot in the building and think everything is fine. A few months later, I get a bill for $ 117 from the office saying I had no referral from my PCP so my insurance wouldn’t pay for it. I call to try to explain that I was never told that my referral was no longer valid but the medical billing is outsourced by this office and they were rude and said it was my fault. They said they have no responsibility to make sure I have a referral. They said nobody at the doctor’s office would even talk to me about it because it is not there job. Every other doctor’s office I have been to always double checks that before I go into see the doctor so this was news to me. I tried to fight paying this extra charge but they just sent me a letter saying they would refer it to collections if I didn’t pay in ten days. So I paid it. I am a social worker with a low salary and so this makes me mad. If I had known I didn’t have an active referral I would have canceled my appointment and/or gotten the referral. The fact that Dr. Briggs office has no accountability or customer service has made me switch doctors. Dr. Briggs office staff/polices make this place a nightmare.

Dr. Briggs is the best doctor that I’ve had for epilepsy. She’s extremely knowledgeable and has the patient best interest foremost in her mind. She’s great!!!

Horrible and unprofessional quack who directs the neurology clinic at Brackenridge. I had the misfortune of using her when I briefly lost my health insurance. My epilepsy prescription needed adjustment because I was having break-through grand-mals lasting two days. After examining me, she concludes that I am perfectly fine and does not write up a new prescription. I then continued having the seizures until I scraped together money to see another doctor outside of her clinic – who does properly treat me. But that cost more, making the whole idea of her service riddiculous. I honestly have no clue how this woman keeps her medical license. Never mind the wait for an appointment or inside the clinic, her lack of basic patient dignity is dangerous.

Excellent Neurologist, I was sent to her after surgery to remove a brain tumor to determine if I had any lingering effects from the surgery(epilepsy, primarily) she was very helpful and suggested alternatives to medication, which worked well(I didn’t end up having epilepsy, but persistent headaches). I would recommend her to anyone, but make time for the appointment! She’s booked for 4 months and every time I’ve gone in for an appointment, its been about a 45 minute wait.
