Building Image Group

I received the following private message from an employee at Building Image Group. I really appreciate his efforts in rectifying the situation and the poor judgment of his work colleague it is not my intent to cause harm to the staff of BIG, with that said I was quite surprised that Mr. Appice felt so confident and self-​assured in his statements, he replied to my posts on the Building Image Group Facebook page telling staff he will discuss «his side» in the morning. As a former Human Resources Manager that has dealt with similar situations, I have discovered whenever a person vehemently defends their personal views as it relates to race, sexual harassment, roles of women in the workplace, drug use, etc. it is because the employee has been embolden by leadership it’s okay. It is obvious in this response:
«Do with what you will… I have not made any pro racism comments at any time. I have also screen shot this entire post so should my employer need proof of what was said and not said… they can see for themselves.»
I have seen the beautiful Emancipation Proclamation monument your company worked on at the Carver Museum. Me, being an American knowing what that piece of history means to so many people to have Mr. Appice say this:
«The slaves argument is so overused. Some blacks also owned slaves. so it wasn’t just white folk. And honestly, in that current time… it was allowed. True, they shouldn’t have done it. but come on… how long do we have to hear slavery is the reason for every single thing wrong with the black community. Even now, their community struggles and they take no personal accountability. They glorify rap culture, and make idols of criminals. Hard working black folks are made fun of… not admired. They believe it’s better to get on welfare, SSI, food stamps and medicare instead of doing better for themselves. They teach each other to cheat the system… they feel whites owe them something for slavery that happened years ago. And I’m sorry, there are traitors and terrorists in every culture. But whites are always singled out.»
So, to read this on top of all of his other comments was very disheartening and sad, because if Mr. Appice spent 30 minutes in the Carver Museum he may have learn something about black people. I was disappointed the taxpayer funds may have been used to pay Building Image Group to work on the Emancipation Proclamation piece, and the company has an employee who proudly spews such prejudicial statements.
No, I am not going to remove the screen shots from my Unilocal review, as they are a true representation of the opinion and personal views of your co-​worker. People who contract your company for projects should be aware of who you hire to represent your company.

I want to send a message to you about a conversation you had with a fellow colleague of mine regarding a Facebook post. I want to let you know that in no way does BIG represent someone’s personal views. As a company we are non-​bias and we aren’t for racism. I don’t respect his comments nor do I personally believe in what he had to say. We completely understand your severe frustration with what was transpired on a Facebook page as we were as well. I do have to say that we cannot hire someone based on personal views for that would be discrimination. We are a very open, understanding, non-​bias company. His personal views do not in anyway represent BIG. Could you please remove the photos from our Unilocal!page? It’s not fair to the other people who work here and don’t share the same views. We have spoken to our colleague here internally and we are taking actions. I personally apologize for his actions. I don’t own this company but I do work here as a Senior Project Manager and my personal family depends on this place. Sorry to bother you and sorry again for the actions of said employee here but I do assure you that what was said is not a shared value of this company nor anybody here.
