Centex Propane

Today, I called Centex and spoke with «Jan». I found out that my propane needs were out of their scope regarding RV propane tank service. However, I’d like to add for the record: Not only was Jan very polite and courteous, she led me to the right places to contact. The only thing I don’t like — but I cannot demerit them — is that when you call the local number, you’re directed to a regional call center in upstate New York. While the staff I spoke with (Angie) with this call center was extremely courteous, I don’t like being redirected across the country when calling a business less than 10 minutes from my home.
And to Jan in the event you guys are ever asked this question from another: The answer is no. Per two separate RV authorized dealerships, DOT removable canisters must be inspected after the age of 12, ASME attached do not; only a visual inspection will do but there’s no Federal or State law that demands it to be done for those specific kinds of propane tanks. One can be denied propane fill service if the tank is rusted/​broken/​damaged upon «visual inspection» (which mine is not, only road dirty). I like to look at this as a learning experience for us all. :-) Complaints are common, I like to give compliments when they are due.

They were very helpful in dealing with a recalcitrant propane bottle. The technician worked for about 15 minutes trying to get it to refill. They didn’t charge me anything for the gallon or so of propane that did get into the bottle. I will use them again

I recently located this place by performing a default search on the web, it seemed that Unilocal*had no information for «propane parts, etc.» During my search there was only one review (non-​Yelp) that indicated they may be able to assist; and they did.
If you need your propane bottles filled for your business, or connections, fittings and other supplies this is the place you need to visit for what you need or good «free» advice.
I am an avid cooker, I have many tools and one of them is my custom made propane cooking rig. My situation developed during an event where my 20 year old rig got a melted propane line that expanded into get «off the shelf» items to make it usable for my cooking event. It worked, but not to my liking… so I needed to replace items on the line.
I went to Centex Propane and spoke with Richard. He is quick with a «can I help you» like a time forgotten service station attendant, and he is the seemingly know it all local guy for all things propane. We spoke at lengths for my needs, and it came to the conclusion that they did NOT have what I needed; but he insisted on still helping me out.
As if this was a local barber shop, and customers were hanging around outside getting tanks filled, and swapping local info and fare; in walks a friend and fellow propane specialist from Lockhart. Without delay or worry for loss of business, Richard pointed me to his competition for assistance.
All in all I was able to locate the information I needed with person they directed me to; it is not everyday in this modern world that someone is willing to send their customer elsewhere, unless they care. Here they do care about the customers.
At this time Centex Propane did not have what I needed, but with a handshake and a thank you, they provided a customer service that is hard to find.
So if you are in the area and need your propane filled, connectors, or parts. stop in and see Richard and the family atmosphere to get what you need either here or at their friendly competitor.
With this type of genuine concern to help the customer, they will always have me Unilocal for them when they have something you need.
