Not the best; not the worst. Look, for the price and location you’re not going to do much better; it’s a good spot to be if you don’t have a car and need to get to UT or downtown reasonably quickly, as it’s right on a bunch of bus routes(and is also a pretty easy bike ride). Good for grad students or folks who want no-frills roommate-free living. They even have furnished units, which saves a ton and also keeps you from accumulating a bunch of stuff if you’re not sure how long you’re staying in Austin. Apartment has a few dings and dents, but is clean and functional. Pools are nice and maintenance is super friendly and responsive.

The new apartment manager came to me with her feelings hurt cuz she thought I was calling her a hag, so I told her I would update my review. The hag that was mentioned in my previous story disappeared pretty soon afterwards, and I like to think I had something to do with it. The new lady that’s running the show here is great. Her name is Amber and she’s just the sweetest. She’s very pleasant and friendly and really makes sure things get taken care of around here. My boyfriend-now husband and I renewed our lease in August, so now I am speaking with almost a year and a half of experience at Central Park. Rent is still ok, though they raised ours when we renewed the lease from 595 a month to 655. I was pretty put out about it, but I have seen them doing some work on the building and some people getting new furniture, so I guess it’s ok. It’s still a good place to live, quiet, safe, nice folks, awesome maintenance guys, and I even think the mail lady has straightened up(about time. I can’t tell you how many times I went up to that post office to complain about her to her supervisor) Also, I’d like to add that my previous review may have been a bit naïve. Little did I know what paper thin walls were… after a summer in Houston in a «luxury» apartment, I was sooooooooooooo ready to come home to Central Park!(Please do read my review of San Paloma Apartments in Houston. I would pick Central Park over them ANYDAY) You can hear your neighbors running water and slamming the front doors, but that’s really about it. I have never had to complain to one of my neighbors about being noisy. I’ve never been able to hear music or their tv or voices or anything from the people around us(in Houston, we could literally hear the conversations of the people above us. I think that’s what people are talking about when they describe«paper thin walls», not this place!) Parking here is a blessing. We live on the first floor, so we get to park right in front of our apartment every day, and that’s wonderful! I will be very sad to leave Amber and Central Park when it comes time to move back to Houston. This is still a fine place to call home if you’re looking for a cheap, centrally located place to live.
